Teacher-In-Charge
You may never know what result comes from your action, but if you do
nothing, there will be no result.

True to the essence of these words from Mohandas Gandhi, nobody

can expect a result from an action which has not been done. Whilst an
educator who aims to be a real agent of change must do some move and
take a leap to progress not just for his/herself but for everyone in the
academe.

In support to the calling to hone, encourage and support the teachers

to live to their commitments in contributing change, CAA National High
School-Annex held a School Roll Out Program on Action Research on
December 8, 2017 at 11:00AM until 1:00PM.

The program formally started with a Doxology and a singing of the

Nationalistic Song and it was then followed by the checking of attendance
for every department. Next was a warm greeting from our beloved Teacher-
In-Charge, Mrs. Ma. Teresa B. Delos Santos. In her remarks, she
commended all the teachers for their support in all the programs and
undertakings of the school to better serve the clientele- students. Yet, she
continuously made an appeal to all the teachers to keep working together
and fulfill their commitments with a heart.

The morning inspiration was followed by the content of the program.

The first speaker was a Master Teacher I/School Researcher, Mrs. Catherine
B. Junio. She made a talk about the Definition and Importance of Action
Research. In her talked, it was made clear that an action research is a tool
to evaluate ones teaching which aims to progress and to enhance its
quality. To conduct an action research, it is important that the teacher is
involved in the problem of the school which he/she likes to study about.
Next, the teacher should follow its steps or procedure. Third, the action
research must recommend a solution. Fourth, because the nature of the
research is that it is participatory, everyone in the classroom is involved.
Moreover, the process of the action research is: Inquiring, Acting, Observing,
and Reflecting.

After the first speaker, the teachers were entertained by a song

number by John Rhey Monteza and Abby Sanchez.

The second speaker was another Master Teacher I/ School

Researcher, Ms. Liezl C. Razon. She talked about the Basic Education and
Research Fund (BERF). The coverages of this topic are: Legal Bases of
Educational research, DepEd Policy Issuances on Research, Features of
DepEd Order No. 43 s. 2015, and other updates about the matter. In the
end, she encouraged the teachers to try to apply and enjoy the privileges
that DepEd grants to those who conduct action research.

The last speaker was the School Researcher Coordinator, Mrs. Jo Ann
N. Pedrigal. The topics she discussed are: (1) Supplemental Research Guides
and Tool and (2) Writing A Research Proposal.

In the first topic, the teachers learned about the essentials of research
in regards to guides and tools. Each of the parts of the action research was
thoroughly discussed so the teachers understood fully what to write and
include in it. On the other hand, the second topic made the teachers know
about the mechanics and format of writing the action research proposal and
the action research itself.

Some questions were raised about the topics being discussed

throughout the program but those were also addressed well.

The program ended with a closing remarks from Mrs. Pedrigal. She
made some commendations to the teachers from different learning areas
who finished an action research in the field of their concerns. In doing so,
she also encouraged those who have not yet tried to pursue their own
studies or research. Because action research was proven to be effective in
developing and evaluating teachers quality of teaching, she assured the
great help it would bring to each ones efficiency in teaching.
