The Lincoln Electric Company proudly announces the acquisition

of the American Welding Institutes (AWI) comprehensive line of
welding software products. This acquisition is part of Lincolns
ongoing commitment to provide leading welding technology for our
customers. Lincoln Electric will offer and support a variety of welding
software packages designed to aid users with complex welding
parameters and applications, always with the goal of enhancing
quality and productivity of the design process. In addition, our
engineering team will continue to expand and update the packages so
that they reflect the very latest in the fields of welding and welding-
related computer technology. Information regarding our full line of
welding equipment and consumables will be integrated with the latest
software packages.

Lincoln Electric welcomes all previous customers of AWI as our

customers. Standard support will be provided to AWI customers, just
as it is to all Lincoln customers. A web site has been designed to
provide a quick-and-easy service center through which customers
can continue to pose their problems and suggestions and in turn,
obtain timely solutions from Lincoln.

Arc Works AWS D1.1
A WPS/PQR/WQTR Database Program for Windows
Based on the AWS D1.1 code, Arc Works D1.1 is a
database program which allows the user to enter, store,
search and retrieve Welding Procedure Specifications
(WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder
Qualification Test Records (WQTR) quickly and easily.
AWS D1.1 Features:
Compatible with Windows 3.X, 95 and NT.
Includes a Computerized copy of the AWS D1.1-98
Structural Welding Code - Steel.
Includes recommended AWS D1.1 WPS/PQR forms.
Search Utilities fully employ the functionality from the
relational database.
Includes a Welder Qualification Test Record (WQTR)
database, which can be searched on any combination
of welder name, type, qualified welding process,
welding position, etc.
Integrated with the WeldCad version 2.0 drawing tool.
Features include:
- A complete set of AWS D1.1 prequalified joint
design drawings with specifications.
- A weld symbol drawing tool to allow generating
AWS standard welding symbols
- A joint drawing tool - for multiple pass/layers
welds and all common joint configurations,
symmetrical or asymmetrical
- Capable of specifying both Metric and English
units of measure
- A weld bead drawing tool - for drawing type
I, II and III welds
- Capable of importing other types of drawing files
Arc Works D1.1 is designed for use with the 1998 AWS
D1.1 Structural Welding Code. It provides a successful
system for managing and organizing WPSs, PQRs, and
WQTRs. The program can track and store a virtually
unlimited number of records. It contains all of the
information on the recommended AWS D1.1 forms. The
latest version of WeldCad 2.0 is also included in Arc Works
D1.1. WeldCad is a graphics package that will enable the
user to draw required welding joints easily and efficiently.
System Requirements:
The program is compatible with Windows 3.X, 95, and NT.
For Windows 3.X systems, 8 MRAM is suggested. For
Windows 95, 16 MRAM is suggested. 32 MRAM is the
minimum for Windows NT systems. Installed, the program
will take up 10Mbyte of hard disk space.

Arc Works Ferritepredictor
Ferritepredictor is a computerized database program that
applies the Schaeffler, DeLong, or the WRC 1988 and
1992 Constitution Diagrams to calculate the ferrite content
of welds. The program is capable of handling a simple
autogenous weld on a single base metal, as well as a
complex dissimilar metal weld. Embedded in the program,
there are several databases containing steel and electrode
compositions based on the UNS, AISI as well as ACI
systems. In addition, the user will be able to build his or
her own composition into the user database. The system
calculates ferrite percentages and ferrite number values by
applying a series of complex mathematical formulas. This
is a great time saving reference tool for design and
application engineers.
Ferritepredictor Features:
Includes databases of typical base material compositions
(UNS, AISI, or ACI).
Includes databases of AWS classified filler metals for
stainless steel (SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and GMAW
processes).
Capable of allowing users to specify and store new
compositions for design or experimental reference.
All methods (Schaeffler, DeLong, and the WRC 1988
and 1992 constitution Diagrams) are made available to
the user.
Allows the user to modify composition or dilution
interactively on the diagram and instantaneously view
the effect on ferrite content.
Allows the user to set a target for ferrite content and
back-calculate what the percentage of the individual
element should be.
Permits viewing and printing the Constitution Diagrams.
System Requirements:
DOS3.3 or higher, 80286 or faster computer with math
co-processor, 1Mbyte RAM, 4 Mbytes of hard disk
space for installation, VGA monitor and Card. Compatible

Weldselector is a computerized expert system that uses
artificial intelligence to choose the proper welding electrode
for a specific application. It provides a correct and
consistent choice of welding electrodes for your individual
application. Weldselector includes a powerful database
system that allows users to quickly access information on
more than 1200 different ASTM classified steels, providing
almost unlimited choices and covering most popular
weldable steels. The advanced technique of coupling
expert systems and databases enables Weldselector to
make complex decisions quickly and provides the user with
more capabilities and information than a stand-alone expert
