1. What is the most interesting lesson? Tell the reason.

In my opinion, the most interesting lesson was small group discussion with the topic separation
method for fullerene. I found that fullerene is quite phenomenal topic and a lot of research was
conducted worldwide after its discovery, but it was the first time for me to hear the name of the
compound. During this class, I learned many new things and my knowledge become broader.

I also enjoyed the discussion with Japanese students when we talked about several methods to
separate solids from a solution. Moreover, the discussion went smoothly because each of us had
already searched about the topic from the previous day.

2. How did your thought about industrial/production technology change before and after taking the
class?

Before taking the class, I thought industrial technology is about management of system, unit
operation, unit process, and operation system inside an industry.

After taking the class, I learned that industrial technology also includes manufacturing process
and health and safety management. I think an industrial technologist has to cooperate with other
parties/companies, also deal with clients. Sometimes the clients have a complaint, and industrial
technologist/engineer should be able to picture the whole system to solve the problem, by
considering many kind of aspect (benefit, performance, cost, etc.). The solution is expected to be
the most effective and efficient system that complies the clients demand and companys profit.

Industrial technologist also have to deliver the idea or conclusion to the clients, which requires a
good communication skill. I think industrial technology is an integrated field of study that is
interesting to be learned deeper. The demand for industry is high because people cannot be
unconnected with the industry that not only directly, but also indirectly support our daily life.

3. What improvement can be done for the class?

The topic for each class could be introduced before, and probably the student could be asked to
learn or read some articles related to the topic. When discussion time, we already know about the
topic briefly and the brainstorming would be easier.

By discussing a lot of case study also could be interesting way to know more about application of
theory we learned from lecture.
