FINDINGS

Article 1

The solution procedure outlined in the previous section can be used to examine beam-column
structures with any number of spans and with various boundary conditions. The problem can be
formulated with either p or k as eigenvalue when w is 0. Critical p values can be determined for
designated k values, or critical k values can be found for specified p values.

The problem can be expressed alternatively with w2 as the eigenvalue and with specified values
of p and k. A plot of these results for the first two critical circular natural frequencies.
This article are shows that the method where we use it when in real life or while we working.
This will make the eigenvalue very useful to design a supported beam-column.

Article 2

This article proposes an efficient numerical method for the multiple or close eigenvalue
problems using the accelerated Newton-Raphson method. The proposed method has the
following characteristics.

The proposed method is a general technique that can compute the eigenpairs of structure
efficiently without any numerical instability in case of multiple or close eigenvalues as
well as eigenvalues.
The proposed method will not be affected by the eigenpairs previously calculated because
each eigenpairs is centrically obtained independently.
The proposed method is simple and numerically stable and converges very fast.
Missed eigenpairs can be detected with negligible operations in passing and can be found
by the proposed method.
Article 3

Two example problems are done in this paper. First consideration is performed for dynamic
behavior of shaft of electromotor. The obtained results for natural frequencies for three cases
show that dynamic characteristics of considered shaft are satisfied. The relative ratio between
first frequencies for the first and second cases shows decreasing first natural frequency of
16%. But for the sake of improving dynamic characteristics of structure, design variables
can't be changed arbitrarily. It depends on distribution of the potential and kinetic energy
Second consideration is performed for dynamic behavior of cantilever beam. From this study,
all modified cantilever shapes are of better dynamic characteristics. The difference between
two neighboring frequencies is satisfied. From all above considerations, it can be concluded
that cantilever of the shape is the best modified one because the first natural frequency is
increased enough, but all other natural frequencies preserved almost the same values. In the
above explained modification only one constraint is used, with respect to first natural
frequency. However, the structure can be modified with the multiple constraints of natural
frequencies, which will be done in future investigations. This article opens up new
possibilities for application of this approach to improve dynamic characteristics of structures,
providing increasing of all considered natural frequencies and increasing the difference
between them.
