1. Had I written out my script in a direct instruction model? Would it have
helped my lesson delivery and success if I had done so? Yes I did write out my scrips in the DI model though I needed to practice it more. It helped my lesson plan a lot by keeping me on track when I got flustered half way though the rehearsal too. 2. What was my ratio of 1, 2 and 3s? I had a lot more 1s in this plan than 2s, around a 2:1 ratio. My 3s were few a far in between. 3. Were my students doing lots of 2s the entire time? Were they on task? My choir were all very understanding and every time they had a 2 they were on task and engaged. There was no talking or wandering attentions and they were able to follow my flustered moments throughout the rehearsal. 4. Did I talk too much between every 2 and back to a 1? I do think I talked WAY too much for this rehearsal, I was extremely flustered and allowed my rambling to take over when I was giving instructions or when I messed up. 5. What kind of 3s did I use in this clip? Do I need to improve my use of 3s and if so, in what way? I used a lot of non-specific 3s, and I said, thank you for that way too often in this rehearsal. I need to relate my 3s back into what I asked the choir to do more often! 6. Were there any DI errors in this script? I did not see any DI errors in the script but I didnt practice and follow the script as well as I should have once I got flustered. 7. Did I turn any 1os into a 1a? Not in this rehearsal. 8. What was the pattern of the best chunk in this teaching sequence? (For example, 1a, 2p, 1a, 1d, 2v, 1o, 1a , 2p, 3sra) The best pattern was 1d, 1a, 2p, 1d, 2p, 3sra. It was a nice flow and the choir followed the pattern without realizing it was a pattern several times in the rehearsal. 9. To summarize, what were the strengths of my Direct Instruction Model in this lesson? My strengths were the model used itself when I followed my script and when I followed Dr. Vs suggestions in dialing it forward. 10. To summarize, what were the weaknesses of my Direct Instruction Model in this lesson? My weaknesses were my rambling when flustered, not enough 3s, and my issues with some pitches. 11. What are my next steps? My next steps will be to go over the B section!
