Evaporator Section

Bio-methanated effluent is concentrated in a multistage vacuum evaporator from 4% to 40%

solids. The total process is under vacuum and the vapours generated in the system are

compressed in a TVR to economize steam consumption.

Condensate polishing

The BOD/odor of the condensate water can be further brought down by using condensate
polishing unit.

This consists of activated charcoal based bed through which condensate water is passed and
sufficient time is a giving which reduces odor and BOD. By using this method BOD can be
further brought down

SSP evaporators are most energy efficient. In a 5 effect plant with TVR
the specific steam consumption is 0.12 Kg/Kg i.e 1 Kg of steam
evaporates 8 Kgs of water & in a 7 Effect plant with TVR the specific
steam consumption is 0.10 Kg/Kg i.e. 1 Kg of steam evaporates 10 Kgs
of water.

technology. As drying is an energy intensive process and dryers are
