Michael Jackson by Andy Warhol

I visited the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. To get to the museum, I

traveled by metro. I enjoy visual art because it is a beautiful way of capturing a moment. It

shows the emotions and subjects of the object. I believe this is a powerful way to show a

message.

To paint my canvas, I wanted to see the great work of the painters to use an idea. I felt

surprised at first by the many men as subjects of paintings and the large canvasses. This shows

how there are many men artists that show their perspective in paintings. I learnt that paintings

depict a whole story in their stillness and suspend the viewer to finish the story.

To see art from other generations, I wanted to view the style of paintings. These were

older and more realistic than the extreme style of more modern paintings. I appreciated the truth

of paintings and variety of styles.

Michael Jackson by Andy Warhol shows Michael Jackson against a yellow background.

His hair is curly and his skin is a light shade of peach. He smiles widely and wars a red jacket.

To look at the viewer, his eyes are black. Although Michael Jackson was from an earlier

generation, his music inspired world peace and love. I enjoy Andy Warhols paintings because
they are pop art and a risky style. To see a collectivist culture, the paintings shows how people

should get together. He emphasized harmony between groups of people and inspired dance

moves. This shows how communication to the audience is essential.

He was a great at inspiring pop and had connection power to other people. Michael

Jackson inspired music by popularizing pop. He danced and touched all backgrounds of people.

To promote equality, he assisted other poorer countries and showed courage in singing. This

shows equality and the need for unity. To connect people, he shows open-mindedness of all

cultures.

My family has a mixture of individualistic and collectivistic culture whereas the United

States is an individualistic culture. This is beneficial because of independence and assertiveness.

However, equality and cooperation are necessary to maintain harmony in relationships. If we can

be more like Taiwan, then we can balance the benefits of both attributes. To stimulate

competition, the United States stresses independence. Compared to my family, this is similar

because my Dad is the head of the household. This emphasizes strength and independence in the

family.

By showing Michael Jackson by Andy Warhol to Americans, this can initiate silence and

teamwork. Promoting a power distance among people show how respect and equality are

necessary. A mixture of both individualistic and collectivistic cultures is best for our country
