Viva related questions: (Grade 7)

The Viva shall be largely divided into 5 major components as mentioned below. Suggested
questions are provided below:

- Harmony:
1. Scales/ modes which are being played in a certain piece based on the key signatures.

2. Definition of Relative minor/ major of the keys and their construction.

3. Dierence between a Major Seventh Chord and a Dominant Seventh Chord

- Melody:

1. Intervallic construction of melodic phrases within the piece up to a crotchet length.

2. The enharmonic names of any notes as asked in the exam.

3. Any transposing/ key change happening in the piece. If yes, point out where.

- Rhythm:
1. Meaning of any note value (whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth, thirty-second, any dotted
rhythms, triplets or any associated rests up to a minim).

- Technical:
1. Fingers used to play the 3rd/5th/7th/9th and 11th/13th note of a chord.

- Genre:
1. Melodic/harmonic/rhythmic devices indicative of the genre chosen.

2. Popular Artists from these Genres.
