1. SCOPE
This specification, together with the attachments, covers the minimum requirements
governing the design, manufacturing, testing and delivery of Medium Voltage (MV)
Induction Motor that are suitable for installation at various area for BPGIC Fujairah Terminal
Phase 1, AL Suda, Fujairah, UAE.
2.1 Deviations from this specification are acceptable only if the Vendor has listed in his
quotation the requirements that he cannot or does not wish to comply and the Employer /
Employer's Representative has accepted in writing the deviations, before the order is
placed.
2.2 In the absence of a list of deviations, it will be assumed that the Vendor fully comply with
this specification.
2.3 Any technical deviations to the purchase order and its attachments including, but not limited
to, the data sheets and specifications shall be sought by the Vendor through the
concession request format.
2.4 Concession requests shall require Employer's / Employer's Representative review &
approval prior to implementing the proposed changes. Changes which are implemented
without the approval of Employer/Employer's Representative shall be subject to rejection

4. ORDER OF PRECEDENCE
It shall be the vendors responsibility to be, or to become, knowledgeable of the
requirements of the referenced Codes and Standards.

6.1 SITE CONDITIONS
The MV Motor shall be designed and manufactured for use / installation in the following site
conditions:-
(3) Rainfall
Design rainfall intensity : Rare, but heavy-design max intensity of 60 mm/hr
for one hour per day.
(4) Wind
Maximum design wind velocity : 160 km/h, 3 sec, gust wind
(6) Outdoor Atmosphere : Saliferous, sulphurous and often contains fine dust
and pollutants and Coastal marine environment

7.1 GENERAL
7.1.1 The insulating and dielectric materials used shall be non-toxic, flame-retardant, non-
tracking, non-hygroscopic and vermin resistant material and free of components that are
persistent and hazardous to the environment such as PCB, CFC, asbestos, etc.
7.1.2 Vendor shall give a notice of at least one year to the end user of equipment before phasing
out the product / spares to enable the end user to make placement of order for spares and
services.
7.1.3 The Motor and auxiliaries shall be suitable for continuous operation for periods of up to four
years without servicing and part replacement.
7.1.4 The MV Motor assembly shall have life expectancy of at least 25 years, when operating at
the rated current & voltage and maintaining under the specified service condition.
7.1.5 The Motors shall be designed duty type S1 (continuous running duty), according to IEC
60034-1 and shall be suitable for the load characteristics and operational duty of the driven
equipment
7.1.6 Within a span of 4 years, the periods of running may alternate with idle periods of maximum
6 months. At the end of such an idle period the motor shall, without requirement for
additional inspection, be suitable for another running period.
7.1.7 The offered equipment shall be brand new with state of the art technology and proven field
track record.
7.1.9 All motors shall be of high efficiency energy saving type and tested / certified to the relevant
IEC codes and standards.

8.1.1 General
8.1.1.1 The rating of the machine offered by the Vendor shall be in accordance with IEC 60072
Parts 1 and 2 and all insulation materials shall be class F, as defined in IEC 60034-18. The
rating of the machine offered by the Vendor shall be based on a class B temperature rise
for all parts of the machine windings based on site ambient temperature.
8.1.1.2 Starting method of the motor shall be as indicated in the relevant pump data sheet.
8.1.1.3 Motor Vendor shall coordinate with the pump and VFD/Soft starter Vendor where applicable
to meet the pump & starter (VFD / Soft starter) specification and their requirements. All
drawings / data sheets shall be submitted to the pump Supplier to ensure compatibility of
the pump with motor.
8.1.1.4 The frame size of the motors shall be a minimum of 10% in excess of mechanical duty.
8.1.1.5 Motors used for hazardous areas shall be of suitable design with necessary approval
obtained from BASEEFA or equivalent with certified ATEX certificates, authorized at the
country of origin and approved certifying authority for use in the particular areas specified.
8.1.1.6 All motors approved as above, shall have a separate name plate carrying the details of
such approval, fixed on the body adjacent to the main name plate.
8.1.2.1 The degree of protection shall be at least IP 65 for the motor, auxiliaries, terminal boxes
and bearing housings as per IEC 60529 and external mechanical impact protection IK 10
(able to sustain an impact force of 20J without damage)as per IEC 62262.
8.1.2.2 Motors for outdoor service shall be provided with special seals for the enclosure, joints,
bearing housing, terminal boxes etc., so that no extra protective covering for ingress of
water is required.
8.1.2.3 Vertical motors for outdoor installation shall be provided with a rain protective hood. All
external hardware or parts shall be zinc passivated or cadmium plated.
8.1.2.4 The enclosure shall be provided with certified threaded metallic plug to permit drainage of
condensed water from the inside.

8.1.3.1 For motor feet, the limit of variation between two points on any set of foots in the X or Y
direction shall be limited to a maximum of 80 microns.
8.1.4.1 Motor shall be air cooled with a method of cooling of IC 411 (TEFC) or IC 611 (TEAAC) in
accordance with IEC 60034-6.
8.1.4.2 Wherever service conditions indicated in the specification sheet are such that corrosive
agents are present in the surroundings. The following materials of construction for cooling
tubes shall be aluminium tubes having minimum thickness of 1.6 mm.
8.1.4.3 The cooling fans shall be suitable for bi-directional rotation of motors. These shall be
fastened to the motor shaft by means of compensating rings or will be balanced
independent of the motor. Guide key or reference points shall be supplied to prevent wrong
assembly. The cooling air shall be sucked from the non-driving end.
8.1.4.4 The cooling fans shall be made of non-sparking materials such as cast aluminum (LM-6
alloy)/cast iron.
8.1.4.5 The Vendor shall make sure that the cooling method provided is sufficient for the motor
running at low speed on VFD-operated pumps otherwise suitably rated auxiliary cooling
fans shall be provided.
8.1.4.6 Materials of construction of fans, tubes, etc. used shall be suitable for the environment
specified in the data sheet.
8.2.1.1 For MV motors the DOL-starting current shall not exceed 5 times the rated current of the
motor.
8.2.1.2 The accelerating torque at any speed and 80% rated voltage shall be not less than 10% of
motor rated full load torque. In any event the motor starting torque at 100% rated voltage
shall be not less than 1.7 times the torque obtained from a load curve which varies as the
square of the speed and is equal to 100% torque at rated speed.
8.2.1.3 The torque-speed characteristic of the motor with 80% rated voltage and rated frequency
applied at the motor terminals shall be adequate for starting the driven load under the most

severe conditions, e.g., pump with open discharge. Under these conditions, the
accelerating torque shall not be less than 10% of the full load torque.
8.2.1.4 Starting torque and minimum torque of the motor shall be compatible with the speed torque
characteristics of the driven equipment under specified starting and operating conditions.
8.2.1.5 The motor torque during starting from zero to minimum driven equipment operating speed
shall be at least 10% greater than the driven equipment absorbed torque.
8.2.1.6 The locked rotor torque with 80% rated voltage and rated frequency applied at the motor
terminals should be more than 30% of the rated torque.
8.2.1.7 The breakdown torque shall not exceed 300% of the rated torque and should be higher
than 180% of the rated torque.
8.2.1.8 The pull-out torque shall be in excess of 135% of the rated torque for cylindrical rotor
motors and in excess of 150% of the rated torque for salient pole motors.
8.2.1.9 The pull-in torque shall be at least 60% of the rated torque for two, four and six-pole
machines. For machines with a pole number of eight and higher, the pull-in torque shall be
at least 45% of the rated torque.
8.2.1.10 All motors shall be suitable for DOL starting and for restarting with full opposite residual
voltage under full load condition with supply voltage ranging between 80% and 110% of the
rated value at the terminals of the motor. Manufacturer shall ensure that the end-winding
supports and the quality of the motor windings are suitable for supply reconnection onto full
motor residual voltage at total phase opposition, and that the shaft and active iron core
systems are suitable for supply reconnection onto full motor residual voltage at 180 degree
phase difference.
8.2.2.1 At any voltage between 80 to 100% rated voltage, motors shall be capable of:
Three (3) successive starts with the motor initially at maximum ambient temperature
(cold starts)
Two (2) successive starts with the motor initially at full load operating temperature (hot
starts)
Six (6) minimum number of starts during first hour of continuous operation (e.g.
commissioning)
Four (4) evenly spaced starts
8.2.2.2 After a cooling period of 30 minutes at standstill, another starting sequence of at least two
successive starts shall be possible.

8.2.3.1 The Vendor shall furnish the running-up time at 80% and 100% rated voltage applied at the
motor terminals.
8.2.3.1 The Vendor shall furnish the maximum allowable running-up time at 80% and 100% rated
voltage applied at the motor terminals.
8.2.4 Stalling Time
8.2.4.1 The Vendor shall furnish the maximum allowable stalling time with rated voltage and 80%
voltage and rated frequency applied at the motor terminals.
8.2.4.2 Data to be provided shall include both "hot" and "cold" stalling time.
8.2.5.1 The maximum allowable temperature rise of the electric motor is dependent on:
8.2.6.1 To permit evaluation of balance and vibration of rotating electrical machines, it is necessary
to measure on the machine alone (non-rotating parts). The test conditions should be
properly defined to enable reproducible tests to be carried out and to provide comparable
measurements.
8.2.6.2 Vendor shall provide vibration monitoring probes for motors where such monitoring is
deemed critical for safe operation of the equipment and indicated in the motor data sheet.
Motor vibrations measured at the bearing must not exceed the limits as specified in relevant
IEC standards.
8.2.6.3 The test conditions and values of vibration shall be as described in detail in IEC 60034-14.

8.2.7.1 The maximum sound pressure level shall not exceed 85 dB (A) in the work area, i.e., any
position accessible to personal not less than 1 meter from equipment surfaces.
8.2.7.2 The requirements apply in the absence of reverberation and background noise from other
sources and for all operating conditions between no-load and full-load.
8.2.7.3 If the noise measurements are performed under no-load conditions, the maximum allowable
noise limits shall, for 2 and 4-pole machines be 2 dB (A) more stringent and for machines
with a higher number of poles be 4 dB (A) more stringent than the values stated above or in
the requisition.
8.2.7.4 If the mean sound pressure level is used to evaluate the noise emission of the motor, the
maximum allowable noise limit shall be taken 1.5 dB (A) more stringent.
8.2.7.5 If the motor produces narrow-band noise with total or impulsive components the maximum
allowable noise limits shall be 5 dB (A) more stringent than the values stated above or in
the requisition.
8.2.7.6 In situations where more than one reduction factor to the maximum allowable noise limit
applies, the total reduction shall be the linear sum of the individual reductions. Motors
should preferably meet the maximum allowable noise limits by design and not by corrective
measures.
8.2.7.7 The acoustic measures, if applied, shall not obstruct routing inspection and maintenance
activities such as lubrication of bearings and inspection of oil levels. The maximum
allowable temperature rise of the motor windings and bearings shall not exceed the limits
specified in this specification.
8.2.8.2 The additional inertia necessary to comply with the current variation and speed irregularity
requirements should be added to the rotating mass of the motor.
8.2.8.3 If this requirement cannot be met, approval shall be obtained from the Employer /
Employers Representative regarding an alternative design. (The basis for determining this
vibration shall be by oscillography measurement and not by ammeter reading).
8.2.8.4 Generally this test will be part of a site acceptance test.

8.3.1.1 Materials that are persistent in or toxic to the environment or that are considered potential
carcinogens shall not be used.
8.3.1.2 The use of hygroscopic materials should be avoided. The materials used shall be selected
to prevent contact corrosion.
8.3.1.3 Transport units heavier than 25 kg shall have eye bolts, lugs or extension pieces clearly
identifiable to be used for hoisting. Eye bolts shall not be part of the equipment type of
protection.
8.3.1.4 Motors weighting over 600 kg shall have jacking bolts or facilities to lift the motor with the
aid of a mechanical jacking device to facilitate the alignment of the motor with the driven
equipment.
8.3.1.5 Motors shall be provided with external earthing facilities. The earthing facility shall be
clearly marked with the appropriate symbol.
8.3.1.6 Two earth points should be provided on each motor body. These points should be welded
on motor body and continuity should be available even after motor paint.
8.3.2.1 All motor frames and bearing end-shields shall be constructed of ferrous metals. Motor
frames made of aluminum alloy are not acceptable.
8.3.2.2 Corresponding mounting surfaces for horizontal motors shall be in the same plane and
within a tolerance of 0.15 mm per meter distance between surfaces.
8.3.2.3 Motor frame including bearing supports shall have sufficient strength and rigidity to avoid
distortion or increased vibration as a result of external mechanical forces, e.g. tightening of
fixing bolts.
8.3.2.4 After tightening one or more of the fixing bolts, the deflection of the motor's feet from the
horizontal plane shall be less than 50mm.
8.3.2.5 All welding and welding inspection shall comply with AWS D1.1 or other approved
equivalent codes and standards.
8.3.2.6 Intermittent welds, stitch welds or tack welds are not allowed on any structural part of the
motor frame including the outer enclosure. This requirement does not apply to parts of the
motor frame where the use of continuous welds would cause deformation of the part.

8.3.3.1 Motors shall be suitable for bi-directional rotation. In case of any design limitation, the same
shall be indicated in the offer and to coordinate with the driven equipment.
8.3.3.2 In either case, a plate showing the direction of rotation corresponding to the phase terminal
markings shall be fitted at the driving end shield of the motors.
8.3.4.1 The motors shall be provided with anti-condensation heaters of fully insulated design to
prevent condensation when the motor is kept idle for long period.
8.3.4.2 The heaters shall be suitable for operation on a single phase, 230V, 50Hz.
8.3.4.3 Anti-condensation heaters shall be arranged to provide uniform heating of stator and, if
applicable, rotor windings and should maintain the temperature of the motor windings
approximately 5C above external ambient temperature.
8.3.4.4 The surface temperature of the heater element or of the motor enclosure shall not exceed
the limiting ignition temperature as specified.
8.3.4.5 The connecting leads of the heater elements shall be brought out to terminals in a separate
heater terminal box mounted on the motor frame. A prominent warning label shall be
provided, as shown "Warning - Circuit May Be Live".
8.3.5 Windings
8.3.5.1 The complete insulation system of motor, including all insulation materials, shall meet the
requirements for class F insulation.
8.3.5.2 All insulation materials used for both stator and, if applicable, rotor and exciter windings
shall be at-least class F materials in accordance with IEC 60085.
8.3.5.3 Stator windings of motors shall be made of high quality enameled wire with suitable ground
and inter-phase insulation.
8.3.5.4 After installation of the windings and connection of the coils, the windings shall be fully
impregnated to restrict the movement of the coils and to realize adequate heat dissipation.
Impregnation by means of dry vacuum/pressure method (vacuum impregnation) is
preferred. Coating by painting is not recognized as impregnation and is not acceptable.

8.3.5.5 All windings shall be adequately supported, braced and blocked to provide sufficient rigidity
and to limit end winding vibration and subsequent cracking of the winding insulation.
8.3.5.6 Windings shall be able to withstand the dynamic forces which result from frequent starting
and starting against full opposite residual voltage.
8.3.6.1 The cable glands shall be of the double compression type and shall provide seal around
both inner and outer sheaths, electrical bond and inner sheath and clamp the armor.
8.3.6.2 Gland plates and glands to be used for single core cables shall be made of non-magnetic
material.
8.3.6.3 The terminal box shall be located at the right hand side of the horizontal motor looking from
the driving-end.
8.3.6.4 Inside the terminal box, an earthing clamp or bolt of adequate dimensions shall be provided
for connection of the cable earthing. The earthing facility shall be clearly marked with 'the
appropriate symbol.
8.3.6.5 Auxiliary equipment fitted to the motor, e.g., temperature detectors, vibration monitors, shall
be wired a separate auxiliary terminal boxes fitted to the side of the motor and complying
with the above requirements.
8.3.6.6 Terminal boxes shall have threaded entries with ISO metric threads to suit compression
cable glands of size identified by Contractor.
8.3.6.7 For M.V. Motors, design of terminal boxes shall be such that it may be possible to rotate by
90 degree arrange top / bottom /side entry of cables at site.
8.3.6.8 All terminal boxes for the MV motors shall be Vendor's standard box with ingress protection
of IP 65.
8.3.6.9 The main terminal box shall be made of steel. Terminal boxes made of cast-iron are not
acceptable.
8.3.6.10 The main terminal body shall be of Phase segregated type non-compounded filled designs
A terminal box so designed that phase segregation is provided by earthed metallic barriers
forming completely distinct individual phase compartments so as to restrict any electrical
breakdown to an earth fault.
8.3.6.11 Main terminal boxes should be constructed in such a way that the cable can be connected
without a requirement for pulling the cable through a fixed opening in the box.

8.3.6.12 The lowest part of the terminal box, including cable gland and other miscellaneous parts,
shall be not lower than the lowest part of the motor.
8.3.6.13 For explosion-proof motors, Exe or Exd type of terminal boxes shall be used.
8.3.6.14 The cable box shall be air insulated and cold shrink terminations or heat shrinkable
terminations shall be used. Compound filled cable boxes are not acceptable.
8.3.6.15 The motor cables shall be able to enter the terminal box from bottom unless otherwise
specified by the Purchaser. The lowest part of the terminal box, including cable glands and
other miscellaneous parts, shall be not lower than the lowest part of the motor frame.
8.3.7 Bushing and Terminals
8.3.7.1 Terminal marking of the main cable connections and the direction of the rotation shall be in
accordance of IEC 60034-8.
8.3.7.2 Terminal marking of auxiliary cable connections shall be in accordance with the relevant
motor wiring diagrams.
8.3.7.3 Terminal blocks should be made of synthetic resin. The use of porcelain is not allowed.
8.3.7.4 Terminal connections shall be constructed in such a way that direct contact between
screws, bolts or nuts and the conductor is avoided.
8.3.7.5 The bushings and insulators shall be fully rated for the rated motor voltage and be capable
of withstanding both the dynamic and thermal effects of a through fault short circuit current
for at least 0.2 seconds.
8.3.7.6 The distance between bushings and earthed parts of the terminal box shall be based on the
applicable distances for air insulated installation.
8.3.8 Rotor
8.3.8.2 Welding on finished shafts is not allowed. Shafts and/or spiders subjected to welding shall
be post-weld stress relieved.
8.3.8.3 Rotors of all motors shall be dynamically balanced at nominal speed with half the key (HK)
fitted in the keyway(s). The shaft-end should be permanently marked with the indication
'HK'. The rotor design shall allow for the addition of balancing weights. Balancing weights
shall not be of lead or similar ductile material.

8.3.8.5 Rotors of motors above 250 kW shall be subjected to an over speed test twice, at 1.2 times
rated speed for a duration of 2 minutes.
8.3.8.6 The over speed test shall be considered as satisfactory if no permanent abnormal
deformation is apparent.
8.3.9 Fans
8.3.9.1 The external fan and if applicable the separately mounted internal fan(s), shall be
individually balanced.
8.3.9.2 The external fans shall be of non-corroding material or shall be treated with a corrosion
resistant coating.
8.3.9.3 The flow of cooling air shall be in the direction of the driven equipment.
8.3.9.4 Motors fitted with unidirectional fans shall be provided with an arrow permanently indicating
the direction of rotation. Indication by means of a painted or adhesive arrow is not
acceptable.
8.3.9.5 Cooling impeller fans for motors installed in classified areas shall be made of spark-free
aluminium alloy material (containing less than 0.2% of copper and not more than 6 % of the
magnesium by mass). Special reinforced thermosetting plastic fans which are conducting
sufficiently to prevent the accumulation of static electric charges, may be used but subject
to prior written approval from the Purchaser. The free space between the external fan and
any stationary part of the motor shall be at least 1/100 of the maximum diameter of the fan
and shall not be less than 1 mm. If both opposing parts are machined, the clearance
distance shall not be less than 1 mm.
8.3.10 Couplings
8.3.10.1 The coupling design shall be based on the maximum transient torques which can be
expected at the coupling in case of a two or three-phase short-circuit at the motor terminals.
8.3.10.2 The coupling components shall be balanced individually and the assembled coupling shall
be balanced as a unit by the driven equipment Vendor.
8.3.10.3 The motor Vendor shall mount the balanced coupling hub as supplied by the driven
equipment Vendor.

8.3.10.4 When the coupling hub does not fully cover the shaft-key, the motor Vendor should
machine the key in such a way that residual unbalance is eliminated.
8.3.10.5 The shaft-ends shall be provided with a suitable threaded hole or holes to facilitate the
assembly or removal of coupling and bearing races.
8.3.10.6 Shaft extensions, keys and key-ways shall be in accordance with IEC 60072 Parts 1 and 2.
8.3.10.7 For motors with rated output in excess of 1000 kW an integrally flanged shaft-end design or
a tapered shaft-end design for hydraulically fitted coupling should be considered. Vendor
shall furnish the proposed shaft-end design in case no design is specified.
8.4.1.1 RTD shall be provided for sensing all MV motor winding and motor bearings (DE and NDE).
8.4.1.2 RTD shall be PT100 resistance elements in accordance with IEC 60751.
8.4.1.3 All MV motors shall be provided with evenly distributed embedded resistance temperature
detectors in the 3-phase stator windings (1 + 1 in each phase) for measurement of winding
temperature. These shall be located in locations where the highest temperature is likely to
occur
8.4.1.4 For VFD-operated motors, one number of RTD sensor for hot air (motor frame temperature)
shall be provided only where specified.
8.4.1.5 RTD elements shall be suitable for 3-wire connections. The RTD elements shall be wired to
a separate auxiliary terminal box mounted on the motor frame.
8.4.2.1 In VFD-operated MV motors, the measurement-of hot air (motor-frame temperature) and
bearing temperature (of oil-lubricated type of bearings) by dial-type thermometers shall be
provided wherever required. The dial-type thermometers shall be provided with threshold
markings and settings for alarm and trip together with volt-free output contacts where
specified. Alternatively, RTD type sensors shall be used.
8.4.2.2 The arrangement shall consist of a dial type of mercury-in-steel thermometer so mounted
that its stem is located in the maximum temperature region.
8.4.2.3 For bearing temperature measurement, separate thermometers shall be provided for each
bearing.

8.4.3.1 Motors shall have grease lubricated ball or roller type bearings or of the manufacturer's
standard design.
8.4.3.2 The bearings shall be chosen to give a minimum L-10 rating life of 5 yrs. (40,000 hrs.) at
rated operating conditions. (The L -10 rating life is the number of hours at constant speed
that 90 % of a group of identical bearings will complete or exceed before the first evidence
of the failure).
8.4.3.3 Bearings shall be protected to eliminate contamination, loss of lubricant and to prevent
intrusion of fine dust and sand particles.
8.4.3.4 Housings for grease-lubricated bearings shall be provided with openings accessible from
the exterior of the motor; one with a pressure grease fitting and one to serve as a drain and
vent during greasing.
8.4.3.5 Unless specified otherwise, the bearings shall be adequate to absorb axial thrust provided
by the motor itself or due to shaft expansion.
8.4.3.6 Bearing shall be suitable for both directions of rotation of the motor.
8.4.3.7 The minimum re-lubrication interval shall be 4000 hours for horizontal motors and 2000
hours for vertical motors.
8.4.3.8 Motors shall be able to run with forced lubrication switched off or failed within specified
duration. During testing and commissioning the motor shall be able to run unloaded for a
period of 10minutes without forced lubrication and. or separate cooling applied.
8.4.3.9 Pre-lubricated sealed bearings may be considered provided a full guarantee is given for 4
to 5 years of trouble free service without the necessity of re-lubrication.
8.4.3.11 The motors shall have facility for on-line greasing. Necessary grease nipples for on-line
lubrication from outside shall be provided for both DE & NDE bearing.
8.4.3.12 When grease nipples are provided, these shall be associated, where necessary, with
appropriately located relief devices to ensure passage of grease through the bearings.

8.4.3.13 Vertical motors shall be provided with thrust bearings suitable for the load imposed by the
driven equipment.
8.4.3.14 Oil lubricated bearing housings shall have the following features:
Oil reservoirs fitted with constant level oilers (Trico or equivalent) on non-force-lubricated
bearings.
Cleanable or replaceable oil level indicator marked with acceptable high and low level
limits. (The indicator shall be designed such that oil will not get trapped in it, as this could
give a false reading).
Fill and drain openings (Drain opening shall be at the lowest point in the reservoir).
8.5.1.1 Motors for use in Zone 1 areas within group installations shall be suitable for gas group IIB
and temperature class T4, unless otherwise specified in the requisition.
8.5.1.2 Type of protection shall be Exd (e) in accordance with IEC 60079-1. The motor shall be Exd
type but the terminal box shall be Exe type.
8.5.1.3 Motors used in Zone-1 areas shall be certified by ATEX / IECEX confirming compliance
with IEC 60079-1.
9. RATING PLATES
9.1 Rating plates shall be made of stainless steel material (SS 316L) and shall be fixed to a
non-removable part of the motor frame.
9.2 Information provided on the rating plates shall be in line with IEC 60034-1 and shall include
but not limited to the data as specified below :-

10.1.2 Overall and assembly drawings showing main dimensions, arrangement of components,
terminal boxes, foundation loading and gravity centre point location;
10.1.4 Control schematics and wiring diagrams covering all equipment pertaining to the motor;
10.1.5 Bearing arrangement/alignment drawing with data to replace the bearings/bearing lining for
motors;

10.1.17 Any relevant drawings, literature, calculations, certificates or any relevant drawings as
requested by Employer / Employers Representative.
10.2 Each drawing shall be provided with a title block in the bottom right-hand corner
incorporating the following information:-
10.2.4 Drawing title giving the description of contents whereby the drawing can be identified;
10.3 Revisions to drawing shall be identified with Triangular symbols adjacent to the alterations,
a brief description in tabular form of each revision shall be given, and if applicable, the
authority and date of the revision shall be listed. The term "Latest Revision" shall not be
used.

10.4 All the documents mentioned above shall be finally submitted as dossier in a compact disc
(electronic copy) format.
10.6 No manufacturing / fabrication is allowed to commence until all submitted documents are
given final approval from Employer / Employers Representative.
11. INSPECTION AND TESTING
11.2 The Vendor/Manufacturer shall carry out the complete range of Routine and Performance
Tests as specified by IEC 60034.
11.3 All the type, routine and performance tests, as specified, shall be witnessed by the
Contractor/Employers Inspector and/or Third-party Inspection Agency as authorized by the
Employer. The Manufacturer shall give prior notice of minimum 4 weeks to the Contractor
for witnessing the tests.
11.4 All the type tests, routine tests and performance tests, as specified, shall be carried out at
manufacturer's shop under his care and expense.
FAT & SAT procedures shall be submitted in advance for review and approval by the
Contractor/Employer prior to the tests.
Tests shall be carried out in accordance with this specification and the relevant IEC and
ISO recommendations, unless otherwise agreed.
11.5 Tests Certificates/Reports duly signed by the Contractor/Employers Inspector at the end of
the tests shall be a part of final documentation but this will not release the responsibility of
the Vendor/Manufacturer to deliver the equipment complying with the specification.
11.6 The manufacturer shall submit all internal test records of the tests carried out by him on the
purchased equipment at least one week before the final inspection and testing of the
equipment.
11.7 Performance tests shall be carried out on all motors. The performance test of motor shall at
least include but not limited to the following tests in the motor vendor/manufacturers
works:-
Winding resistance (cold)
Full load heat run
Winding resistance (hot)
Calculated winding temperature rise
Calculated winding resistance at 20C
Bearing temperature rise

11.8 The manufacturer shall carry out routine tests on electric motors that are not subjected to
Performance Test. Routine tests shall include at least but not limited to the followings in the
motor vendor/manufacturers work :-

11.9 The manufacturer shall submit the following certificates/reports for verification by the
Contractor/employers Inspector, and/or Third-party Inspector as authorized by the
Employer:-
11.10 Though the motors shall be accepted on the basis of the satisfactory result of the testing at
the shop, it shall not absolve the Vendor/Manufacturer from liability regarding the proper
functioning and performance of the motors when coupled to the driven equipment at site.
11.11 The motors and associated equipment shall have test certificates issued by recognized
independent test house (ATEX/BASEEFA/LCIE/UL/FM or equivalent). All indigenous
motors shall conform to IEC Standards and shall be certified by International testing
agencies. All motors (indigenous and imported) shall also have valid statutory approvals as
applicable for the specified location. All indigenous explosion-proof motors shall have valid
license & marking as required by statutory authorities For VFD driven motors, motor
nameplate shall clearly indicate that the motor is suitable for operation with variable
frequency drive along with VFD make and model number.
11.12 The motors shall be first shop-tested in motor manufacturers shop and then ship to Pump
manufacturers shop for the performance of integrated tests together with the job pumps
and the job VFDs/Soft Starters before shipment to site.
11.13 Before leaving the vendors work, the motors shall have been fully inspected and tested,
and all test records/certificates/reports shall have been approved and signed off by the
Contractor/Employers Inspector and/or Third-party Inspector as authorized by the
Employer. All punch-list items, as a result of the FAT, shall have been cleared by the motor
vendor/manufacturer and approved by the Contractor/Employers Inspector, and/or Third-
party Inspector as authorized by the Employer before shipment is allowed.

12. GUARANTEES
12.1 Vendor shall guarantee the process performance and mechanical design of all equipment
supplied under this specification when operated at the conditions specified herein.
12.2 Vendor shall guarantee that all the materials included in his scope of supply are of the best
quality, free from faults in design and poor workmanship and fulfill satisfactorily the
specified operating and design conditions.
12.3 Vendor/Manufacturer complied with the provisions of this Specification and Codes,
Standards and Specifications mentioned herein, does not relieve Contractor / Vendors
responsibility to furnish materials of proper design, mechanically suited to meet the required
conditions.
13. TRAINING
The Motor Vendor shall provide training for Employers operations, maintenance and service
personnel. The training shall include classroom discussion of the theory of operation of the
motor, as well as trouble shooting, maintenance and service methods for the supplied
equipment.
14. START-UP
The Motor Vendor shall provide the field services of a factory trained technician, as
necessary to supervise installation, inspect, install, test and start-up all equipment provided.
15.1 The Vendor shall ensure that all packing and protection supplied for the materials are
adequate to maintain the material guarantees.
15.2 Items supplied loose required for erection at site shall be packed together with the Motor.
15.3 Preparation for shipment shall be in accordance with the Vendor's standards and as noted
herein. The Vendor shall be solely responsible for the adequacy of the preparation for
shipment provisions with respect to materials and application and to provide equipment at
the destination in ex-works condition when handled by commercial carriers.
15.4 Adequate protection shall be provided to prevent mechanical damage and atmospheric
corrosion in transit and at the jobsite.

15.5 If the motors are intended to be imported, it shall be the sole responsibility of the Vendor /
Contractor to ensure that the motors are properly packed for safe transport by road and
ocean freight. The motors shall be delivered, mechanically completed and cleaned and
packed in suitable sea-worthy packing to preserve the cleanliness during any storage,
intermediate transport, shipment, till installation.
15.6 Any wood packaging material intended to be used to import electrical items shall be heat
treated or duly fumigated with Methyl Bromide and stamped or branded with a mark of
compliance. Such procedures are to be executed in strict compliance to accepted
international standard.
15.7 After inspection and test, equipment shall be completely free of water and dry before start
of preparation for shipment.
15.8 Equipment shall be packed, securely anchored and skid mounted when required. Bracing,
supports and rigging connections shall be provided to prevent damage during transit, lifting
or unloading.
16.1 Vendor shall be responsible for the supply of all spares required for start-up and
commissioning of the Motor and its accessories.
16.2 Vendor shall also recommend and quote for the supply of required spare parts for a normal
operation for a minimum of 2 years.
16.3 Any special tools required for installation and maintenance of the motor shall be provided
by vendor / manufacturer.
