General information 1

1 General information
1.1 Using CASE HWC

Description
The hardware commissioning program CASE HWC (hardware commissioning) is used
to check the automation stations (AS) of the EY3600 system and the associated field
equipment. After completion of the hardware commissioning, the program may be used
for primary trouble-shooting.

CASE HWC does not allow for the parametering or programming of the automation sta-
tions, since this is effected with the programs CASE Prj (CASE project) and CASE FBD
(function diagram editor).

The program CASE HWC does not make great demands on the PC, and it can be used
without detailed knowledge of the system or of computers.

CASE HWC is used with a single AS or with an AS which is connected to other automa-
tion stations via novaNet. If the PC is equipped with a telephone modem, and a nova-
Net291 with a telephone modem is installed in the installation, CASE HWC can establish
the link to remote ASs or AS networks.
Connection of CASE HWC does not affect the operation of the AS or of the novaNet.

1.3 Operating the program

1.3.1 General information

Description
The operation of CASE HWC is menu-led. Use the cursor keys [ ] / [
] or the numbers
[1]...[9] at the relevant menu item to call an individual menu item. The chosen menu
item is shown in red.
All describing functions are accessible without authorisation code.

Even if CASE HWC is connected to the AS via novaNet, you are only connected to the
chosen AS on-line.

Operation with the mouse is not provided for.

Note
When you start the program (or when you change to the relevant AS), it checks whether
the AS has already been programmed. If the house address of the AS is found, the ini-
tialisation of the AS and the sending of a data record to the AS are not possible.
If it should nevertheless be necessary to initialise the AS, this has to be done manually,
using the relevant switch.
If the chosen AS could not be searched for the house address after starting CASE
HWC, working with the program is only possible after the search has been started
manually.

Description
The heading of the screen shows from left to right:-

1.3.4 Print

Note
All print functions of the program CASE HWC print into the file AS-xxxxx.txt (xxxxx
denotes the AS-address. Therefore, it is ensured that no printer has to be taken into the
technical plant while checking the hardware and the wiring. The printing on paper can be
carried out any time with any available text processor. This makes it also possible to add
one's own text or data to the data supplied by the program in the file.
Each print process adds the relevant data to the existing file. If the file is non-existent in
the program directory, it is newly created.

Application
Different menu items contain print functions. These print functions are set off with the
function key [F5]. The files thus created are entered into the directory which also con-
tains CASE HWC. The file names usually get an AS-address preceeded by AS. The file
extension can vary:-

1.4 Telephone modem: special functions

1.4.1 Establishing/breaking a link

Description
The telephone link is established when an AS has been defined or an AS selection list
has been requested.

The telephone link is broken when you close the program or change the interface.

1.4.2 Call-back function

Description
You can either dial the modem directly or use the modem-supported security/call-back
function.

The modem-supported security/call-back function must be supported by the installation's

modem in the following manner:-
1. When the call arrives (after the tone), the modem waits for the transmission of a
password, which is requested via plain text.
2. This is then compared with the password list stored in the modem. If the password
is invalid, it hangs up.
3. If the password is valid, the inquiry of the relevant call-back telephone number is
transferred to the connected station. It is also possible to use a default number or
a telephone number that is permanently assigned to every password.
4. As soon as the telephone number has arrived (including return), the modem hangs
up and calls the remote modem on the telephone number that it received.

The PC's telephone modem (or CASE HWC) acts as follows when the call-back function
has been activated:-

1. Call to the appropriate installation is initiated.

2. Modem is initialised (e.g. AT&T0).
3. When Call back is active, Auto answer is on (ATS0=1).
4. Initiate dialling (ATDT<telephone number>).
5. Wait for the answer string of the modem (or the dialling timer) and display it in
plain text.
6. CONNECT.
7. Open terminal window.
8. Identification and password dialog from remote modem.
9. Remote modem and then local modem hang up.
10. Show call-back timer (or answer string of the modem) in plain text.
11. Show Connected message.
12. Return to basic functions of CASE HWC

2.4.5 Counter

Description
When this menu item is chosen, CASE HWC selects the first counter address (pulse
counter) of the selected AS and shows all parameters of this address on the screen.
Use [PgUp] and [PgDn] keys to jump to the next address.

The field Imp.weight (step-down ratio) is used for testing the transmitters (white field),
but only if no house address has been generated. Use the range of numbers from
0.47*10-9 to 2.15*109 to adjust the step-down ratio. To set a counter to a specific value,
you can use the fields Freeze (Hrs) and QC this hour. The counting value is based on
the sum of these fields.
All other fields are for indication of the values of the AS. The main values are shown in
red. The relevant inputs (or changes) have to be carried out with CASE FBD or EY3600
novaPro32.

To change, enter the desired value into the relevant field and send it to the AS by
pressing the function key [F2].

2.7 Data record

Description
All generated data in an AS are called a data record.
These data can be read back out of the AS and stored in a file on the PC's hard disk.
Afterwards, this data record can be used to draw up a so-called USER-EPROM, with
which you can store data in the AS for an unlimited time. If a total loss of the data in the
RAM of the AS occurs, the data are automatically read from the USER-EPROM, and the
AS can continue to function.

Application
The following menu items are available:

1 Read AS data record

2 Read data for EPROM-file
3 AS standard parametering
4 Create EPROM file from data record

2.7.1 Read AS data record

3.1.4 Setting the memory area for novaNet290

Description
The card has to be encoded according to the memory area that it has to occupy within
the PC. The encodability includes the whole memory area of the PC-RAM (16 MB), or
the memory installed on the relevant PC, but only 1 kbyte is occupied.
The address C800 is factory set on the novaNet290 card.
If the jumpers of the bus-controller are set on the start address of the memory reserva-
tion, the bus-controller can be installed in the PC.
The settings on the card have to be equivalent to the ones in Windows 9X. See chapter
2.1.5 PC memory address for setting the code jumpers.

3.2 Connection
3.2.1 novaNet290

Description
The EYS 290 F001 bus controller enables you to connect a PC to the EY3600 bus (no-
vaNet). It needs an ISA bus card slot. The bus controller acts like an automation station
on novaNet. The telegrams are exchanged via a dual-port RAM between novaNet and
the superior visualisation and control level. The RAM serves as a buffer and allows tele-
grams to be temporarily memorised. A watchdog controls the state of the bus controller
and resets it in the event of an error (reset). Connection to the novaNet is via an RJ-
11 (6/4) socket.

Application
The bus-controller card makes no special demands on the PC hardware. It occupies a
16-bit ISA slot in the PC.
The novaNet290 bus controller is directly connected to the EY3600 bus (novaNet); the
power supply is taken from the ISA bus.
The card has to be coded according to the memory range that it has to occupy. See
Chapter 3.1.4 Setting the memory area for novaNet290.

3.2.2 novaNet291

Description
The novaNet291 router (EYZ 291 F001) enables a PC to be linked to the EY3600 bus
(novaNet) via a serial interface on the PC (COM interface). The novaNet291 can be
linked either direct to the PC's serial interface or via two normal telephone modems.
As far as the electrics are concerned, the novaNet291 router behaves like an automa-
tion station on the novaNet. The telegrams are exchanged via a RAM between novaNet
and a superior visualisation and management level. The RAM serves as a buffer and
enable telegrams to be stored temporarily until they are processed.
Connection to the novaNet is via either an RJ-11 (6/4) socket or a 2-pin screw terminal.

Application
The novaNet291 makes no special demands on the PC's hardware. Since it occupies a
serial interface, it is particularly suitable for use with portable PCs.
The novaNet291 router is connected to the EY3600 Bus (novaNet) direct. The power
supply must be made available by means of a connection to the 230 V mains. The de-
sired data transmission speed, which must be set to the same value both in CASE HWC
and at the novaNet291 router, should be as high as possible, though the technical limits
of all the other components must also be taken into account.

Different manufacturers use different names either RJ-11 (6/4) or RJ-12 (6/4) for
this plug.

Connection to PC
The novaNet291 router is connected to the PC via a DB9/DB25 connector, using a so-
called zero-modem cable (crossed cable):-

3.3 Program Start

Description
The way the program starts depends on whether one or more communication units are
used.

One communication unit

When you start this program (or when you change the relevant AS) a check is per-
formed to determine whether the AS has already been programmed. If the house ad-
dress of the AS is found, the initialisation of this AS and the sending of a data record are
not possible. If it should, nevertheless, be necessary to initialise the AS, it has to be
done manually, direct with the relevant switch on the AS itself.

After the program has started, the following menu items appear on the screen:-

1 Specify AS address (xxxxx)

2 Select AS address (xxxxx)

If this selection is jumped with the [Esc] key, the last chosen AS will be used. See
Chapter 2.2.2 Select AS address (xxxxx) for the selection of an AS.

Several communication units

If more than one interface has been defined, the program when it is started up for the
first time after the installation goes straight to the menu item Select the interface, see
Chapter 2.1.1 Choose interface (xxxxx). After you have chosen the appropriate inter-
face, the usual procedure (selecting the relevant AS) is started.
The last interface that you selected becomes the default interface, and this information
is stored in the case_hwc.def file.

The next time CASE HWC is started, the settings in case_hwc.def apply. If it adopts a
configuration that is not present in the hardware, the program starts off-line, and a mes-
sage appears on the screen. After the message has been acknowledged, the program
goes straight to the menu item Select the interface, see Chapter 2.1.1 Choose inter-
face (xxxxx).

4 Translation
4.1 Translation of the program texts

Note
All program texts in CASE HWC are archived in the file hwc_xx.txt, where xx denotes
the language version.
The texts for the installation program are archived in the file inst_xx.txt, where xx indi-
cates the language version. The file hwc_xx.txt is in the same directory as CASE HWC
after the installation. When the program is started, the texts of this file are read and used
for presentation. In case_hwc.def, it is defined which language file is used. See Chapter
3.1.5 The file case_hwc.def.

The above texts can be translated.

Texts which refer to firmware blocks (cf. Chapter 2.6 Firmware Block) are stored in the
file fwbnn_xx.def, where nn denotes the internal number of the firmware block and xx
the language version. These texts should not be translated because they are derived
from CASE FBD.

Warning
For the translation, use a word-processing program which does not use control charac-
ters (e.g. Notepad, which is included in Windows 9X).
You must not add any new lines.
The length of the texts is limited by the application in the program.
