]c Audited the accounts and vouchers of firms from all industries including manufacturing , construction , exports , pharmaceuticals as
well as banking thus understanding the diverse ways of book-keeping both manual as well computerized.
]c Audited the branches of the esteemed State Bank of India which are located in the remote villages of Gujarat, thus not only
enriching myself with knowledge about technical aspects regarding functioning of banks (like provisioning for loans , various credit
schemes for rural and agricultural class , checking cash balances in ATMs , calculation of EMI ,etc ) but also adapting to and exploring
the rural culture , the people and their financial needs as well as the hardships.
]c Such audits were also accompanied by back-office work related to documentation , stamping and filing the returns ,etc which seem
to be trivial but yet indispensable and a great learning experience.

]c Following the 26 July deluge that shattered the city of Mumbai, I was allocated the project of studying the major and
minor nullahs in the Andheri ( East ) constituency so as to check for any discrepancies in their functioning and to
scrutinize the activities and progress chart of the plans so formulated by the government agencies namely £  

  ( BMC ) and 
  
  (MMRDA).
]c I had to study the conditions of storm water drains in the constituency , the flow of water from drains to nullahs and then
to the river and the amount of budgeted funds so spent on repairs and de-silting.
]c I used the Right to Information Act,2005 so as to obtain information about the storm water drainage project
implemented by the Government. I visited the department , filled the RTI forms in the prescribed format 
]c I visited each and every nullah and supervised its conditions and then prepared a report thereon on each pertaining to
how dilapidated and clogged they are , the amount of silt to be dredged and removed , etc. This report would be
submitted to the BMC thereafter.

]c My work was not confined to a particular department in specific but was given the opportunity to understand the entire
system which was divided into Trading , Sales and Customer Service. Being an informal structure I was able to interact
with all my colleagues who were kind enough to answer all my queries. They first trained me for a week to get me
oriented to the overall functioning and the sources of revenue of the company.
]c I was then made a part of the SALES and CUSTOMER SERVICE team where I directly interacted with customers ,
documented their queries and also took necessary steps to redress them ( under the guidance of my supervisors).
]c I was able to acquaint myself with the various documents required that are required to be filled by the customers like
Demat forms , Share transfer forms , Delivery Instruction Slips , etc. Moreover these documents were to be checked and
scrutinized and subsequently be forwarded to SEBI. Even a minor discrepancy was rejected.
]c I was also able to understand the KNOW YOUR CLIENT norms and would guide the customers regarding the same.
]c Received first hand experience and insights of how a trading terminal looks like , how trades are executed , how
brokerage on futures and delivery is calculated and the different types of security or margins required.
]c Also learnt how clearing takes place and how the different modes of bank payments work i.e. RTGS , ETFs and cheques.
