Greetings from 204th Brigade
Support Battalion. On behalf of
Command Sgt. Maj. Scott Dugan
and all our great Rough Rider
Soldiers, I want to take a moment
to highlight some of the upcom-
ing events within the 204th and
discuss the outstanding things
that our Soldiers have accom-
plished recently.
During the past several
months, our Rough Rider Sol-
diers have been very busy. They
worked tirelessly to refine supply
systems, from Organizational
ment inventory records to
property accountability. As a
result, 204th BSB was recently
recognized as the winner of the
FORSCOM Supply Excellence
Award for Battalion-level units.
Our Company B maintenance
team is working feverishly to
improve maintenance systems
across the battalion, as they
prepare to compete in the Army
Maintenance Excellence pro-
gram. Both of these programs
assist commanders to validate
current garrison systems. Other
activities, such as the 2nd Brigade
Combat Team Leader Course, are
aimed at teaching and coach-
ing young leaders to operate in
a garrison environment. Both
our Soldiers and our leaders
demonstrate every day that
they are committed to making
the Rough Rider Battalion a
better organization.
Soldier and Family resilien-
cy continue to be a main focus
of our Army. To that end, we
continue our Family strong
education. In September, we
will look at Family budget-
ing and money management,
with an additional focus on
investment education. We

to have fun and serve our neighbors:

ums, paintball, golf, and opportunities
to volunteer in the local community. We
remain committed to providing oppor-
tunities for our Soldiers and Families to
learn and grow, both as an organization
and as a family.
Our Soldiers performed magnificently
during the brigade field training exercise
at Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site in Trini-
dad, Colo. As a battalion, we took the
opportunity to refine our marksmanship
skills, train on MEDEVAC operations,
execute sling load resupply operations,
and improve our ability to conduct base
defense operations. We conducted our
sling load training with the Marine
Corps, hosted leaders from the Target
Distribution Center in Pueblo, and
conducted leader engagements with local
Trinidad officials. All the while, our
Soldiers continued to provide world-
class, seamless support to the Warhorse
Brigade--both at Pinon Canyon and at
Fort Carson.
A memorial ceremony was held on
Aug 18 to pay tribute to our two fallen
Soldiers whose lives were cut tragically
short. Both Families were extremely
grateful to have the opportunity to at-
tend the memorial, and Soldiers from
both battalions had an opportunity to
pay their respects during a truly memo-
rable ceremony. I want to send a sincere
thank you for the leadership provided
by 2nd Special Troops Battalion during
this joint memorial ceremony, and for
the continued support from across the
brigade during this difficult time for our
Rough Riders.
Dugan and I are proud and humbled
to lead the magnificent Rough Rider Bat-
talion. We stand in awe of all that our
Soldiers and Families accomplish every
day, and remain committed to support-
ing our Rough Rider Family.
