M.Sc.

Management and Engineering in

Structural Engineering and Risk Management
of Industrial Facilities
Do you want to become a leader in the designing and risk management sector?
In this M.Sc. program, you will acquire application-based skills for designing, constructing and monitoring structures during operation
and accidental events in compliance with international building codes. Furthermore, you will learn how to identify sources of uncertainty
and the risks associated with them (hazardous, operational, design-related, etc.) You will then be able to manage them so that negative
outcomes are minimized, or even avoided altogether, and any positive outcomes are capitalized upon. This interdisciplinary M.Sc.
program therefore covers not only technical, but also socioeconomic aspects of civil engineering. Besides this, the management
component will prepare you for leadership roles in the designing and risk management sectors.

Study at two top universities in the heart of Europe!

This unique management and engineering M.Sc. program is run as a cooperation between two European universities, both highly
acclaimed in their respective fields: RWTH Aachen University in Germany and Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.
The safe, historical and multicultural student cities of Aachen and Maastricht are located in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion, where the
borders of Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany meet, providing the perfect opportunity to enhance your intercultural skills.

Pursue both Management and Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, Germany!

RWTH Aachens Faculty of Civil Engineering, especially the Chair of Structural Analysis and Dynamics, runs the academic side of this
M.Sc. program. In the area of structural dynamics, the Chairs research focuses on the acquisition and evaluation of structural dynamic
loads, including ground vibrations, and the permanent measurement and system identification of structures using structural monitoring.
In your first year, RWTH School of Business and Economics will also teach three management modules in Aachen.

Develop your skills at Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands!

Maastricht School of Management (MSM) teaches the majority of the business component of this program. You will be trained as a
globally-oriented manager with solid knowledge of core management processes and the major social and environmental issues that
set the scene for business processes in emerging economies. You will also be challenged to explore feasible innovations that balance
business and development perspectives.

Get great career perspectives!

As a graduate of this M.Sc. program, you will...
be well-equipped to pursue careers in multidisciplinary fields of industrial facility design
bring management skills to industry, public sector and non-governmental organizations
be able to carry out site or structure-specific risk analysis using modern tools to estimate the threat of natural hazards.
