Early Learning Centre Learning Experience

Purpose: Purpose:
Reason for developing learning experience.
This could be in response to an observation, The purpose of this activity is that children will get a chance to understand what

Learning Experience: Children will take a look at different emotions shown by
circle emojis on popsicle sticks (happy, sad, mad, surprised, sleepy, scared) and once
they recognize what they are looking at, the entire class will imitate the face. After
this step is completed, they will match the colour of the emoji being discussed with
two different circle cut-outs shown by the teacher and the colour will be identified.
Learning Experience This activity will allow children to learn how to recognize emotions and colours better
upon completion.

Implementation:
-The teacher will prepare for the circle activity by getting a chair and placing it on the
carpet -Then, all the children will be called to the carpet and seated leaning against
the wall
-The teacher will introduce the activity to the children by telling them Today we are
learning about different emotions
-Then, the teacher will pick one emoji face at a time and ask the children if they know
what kind of face it is and figure it out together
-Once the child understands what emotion is being represented by the emoji face, the
teacher will ask everyone to imitate and create the facial expression shown
-Then, the teacher will call up one child at a time and ask them to match the emoji
face colour with two circle cut outs shown by the teacher
-Then the colour will be told to all children and the process of this activity will be

Do-It Signals-This is when the teacher doesnt ask a question but makes a statement
instead. I will use this strategy so that the children can demonstrate their
understanding of what is being shown. For example- when I show a emoji, I will ask
say Tell me more about it which allows me to know what the child knows
Telling, Explaining and Informing- this is when the teacher tells the children facts
or names of things. If the children do not know what they are looking at, I will tell
them.
