1. SCOPE

1.1. This procedure covers the method of preservation, packing & shipping of pre-fabricated pipe
spools.

2. REFERENCE DOCUMENTS

2.1. The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document.
For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition
of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.
2.1.1. Relevant Specification.

3. PRESERVATION

3.1. All openings each of the pipe spools shall be adequately capped by plastic end covers and
wrapped with suitable tape.
3.2. Flanges opening shall be protected with plastic end protectors / plywood cover to avoid
damage of raised face. The ply wood sheet shall be secured with a plastic tie on at least four
places.
3.3. Plastic Tags shall be used for spool / tag marking for loose spools (fittings/gaskets/fasteners)
and package in poly bag.

4. PACKING

4.1. Spools shall be packed in boxes I crates. Construction of boxes shall be as per Customer
Specification. Following steps covers the method of packing spools
4.1.1. Fabricate MS frame/ wooden box as per weight/size of the spools. Normally boxes having net
weight of material more than 1000 lbs and length more than 2 Mtr, are fabricated by a MS
frame, lined with 0.5" thick ply wood.
4.1.2. Material having weight of less than 1000lbs and length less than 2 Mtr wooden Boxes or crate
made of wooden batons of size2"X2.5" with 0.5" ply wood are used. Crates shall be provided
with sufficient lift legs. Fumigation of boxes including plywood/spacers shall be carried out as
per ISPM 15 to make it pest free.
4.1.3. According to the size &weight of spools, box details are estimated.
4.1.4. A polyethylene sheet is placed / spread inside the boxes, which covers all sides & bottom of
the box.
4.1.5. Spools are put in to the boxes one by one and are firmly secured I locked with by nailing the
wooden pieces I ply wood to arrest the movement in all direction. The spools shall be properly
stuffed by using supports / braces / packing material & to arrest the movement, shock or
vibration of the spools during the transportation.
4.1.6. After complete box packing prepare a packing list & submit to buyer for their review and
conformations.

5. MARKING

5.1. Marking details shall be stenciled at two sides of boxes. First fill the background to be marked
with white colour. Then marking shall be carried out by inked foam rollers with the help of
stencils. Marking details includes the minimum following information or provided by M/s
MHI.

6. LOADING AND DISPATCH

6.1. Crates shall be properly loaded, stacked in containers. In the case of trailer loading, crates
shall be secured with the trailer with the help of ropes / slings. Then crates shall be dispatched
along with necessary documents.

7. CALLING FOR LIFT

7.1. Following activities to be followed to lift the materials:


7.1.1. After getting dispatch clearance information given to Customer Logistic personnel.
7.1.2. Submit packing list to buyer, then receipt of COC I marking details.

8. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED PRE SHIPMENT

8.1. Following documents should be available with Customer before lift.


8.1.1. Packing list
8.1.2. Commercial Invoice
8.1.3. Chartered Engineer's Certificate (If required)
8.1.4. Advance license & R.C. Number
8.1.5. Dispatch clearance from the customer
8.2. Following documents should be available with DDEL at the time of lift
8.2.1. COC I marking detail
8.2.2. GR receipt.
8.2.3. PO copy

9. DOCUMENT REQURED BY DDEL POST SHIPMENT
