LEARNING OUTCOMES
The learner will have an understanding of the concepts in the theory of
Unit I structural stability and analyse the stability of prismatic, non prismatic and
built-up columns with various boundary conditions and loads.
The learner will be able to compute the critical elastic buckling loads of
prismatic, non prismatic columns using approximate and numerical methods.
Unit II
In addition, the learner will have an understanding of the concepts of inelastic
behaviour of columns.
The learner will be able to compute the critical elastic buckling loads of beam
columns. In addition, the learner will be able to analyse the stability of the
Unit III
portal frames and multi storied frames with classical and numerical matrix
methods.
