Plasma membrane is important to control the exchange of materials such as nutrients and water in and
out of a cell. Diagram 3.1 shows components of the plasma membrane.

A student carries out an experiment to investigate the percentage of red blood cell undergoes haemolysis
when immersed in different concentration of sodium chloride solution.
