support. Working on this report has been a great learning experience for us. The main
purpose of writing this report was to develop our skills regarding an organization of
Bangladesh.

 Executive summery

In this report we are mainly discussing about the computer application used in an
organization. Now a days we can’t imagine the banking sector without computer technology.
Here we will discuss about all the accessories of computer. In a computer there have many
parts including hardware, software, network. We will discuss every single part under a
particular chapter. We have selected Agrani bank which is an commercial public bank for our
study. So in this regard we will mainly focusing on the computer accessories used in this
bank. The every single part of the computer that is used will be discussed in this report.
Along with the whole computer part we will show the benefit and some our recommendation
for the organization. As we select Agrani bank for our organization so basically our focusing
point of discussed will be that. We have parted the report into 6 chapter and there we will
discuss or show you the whole organization. Though there have some limitation and
problem with the organization but we tried our best to find it out. The study has been
conducted mainly based on secondary data.
 Chapter1

Introduction

1.1 Introduction

Agrani bank limited is established in 1972. It is a state owned bank. It is

formed by the composition of ex-habib bank ltd and ex- commerce bank ltd.
Agrani bank limited is a bank with an authorized capital and paid-up capital of
tk800 million and tk248 million respectively. The total equity of the bank stands
at 725 million as of December,2010. The total profit of last year is about 680
million. There are 867 braches in which 10 branches are corporate. There are
about 341 town branches and 526 rural branches. In this organization the digital
computer system is so high that make the E-banking happens.

1.2 Objective of our report

The main objective of our report is to know about the computer application of bank. Through
the making of this report we can gather the practical knowledge of the organization. In
addition with the practical objective, the following are some of the common but significant
objectives of the study program are as follows:

 To study the of the organization that is agrani bank

 To observe the work this bank.
 To know about the corporation under the organization.
 To study about the banking sector of Bangladesh
 To find out how it contributes in the economy of Bangladesh
 To know about the practical knowledge of the computer application of banking sector.
1.3 Limitation of the report

 Time limitation is the most significant issue.

 Banking sector has limitation to supply confidential information
 Political barriers were the major constraint to collect information.
 There have no reliable source for topic of this report.
 It is difficult to survey on the bank.
 The organization must maintain the privacy to serve information .

1.4 Methodology of the study

The data source were to be identified and key point were to be found. The
source are as follows:

 Annual report on Agrani bank.

 Different survey related to topic.
 Face to face conversation with the respective officers
 Internet browsing.

Computer application in the bank

2.1 computer application

A computer is a device that can be instructed to carry out an arbitrary set

of arithmetic or logical operations automatically. The ability of computers to follow a
sequence of operations, called a program, make computers very flexible and useful.
Such computers are used as control systems for a very wide variety
of industrial and consumer devices. We know that the computer have four parts
including hardware, software, data, user. Computers in the banking sector have
enhanced customer service and productivity regarding account management, while
streamlining back-office activities. The biggest impact is in the area of competition.
Small banking institutions can access the same technology as large banking
institutions and, therefore, can compete with them more effectively for business.

Hardware

3.1 Hardware

Computer hardware refers to the physical parts of a computer and related devices. Internal
hardware devices include motherboards, hard drives, and RAM. External hardware
devices include monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, and scanners. It is Mechanical devices
in the computer and Anything that can be touched.
The internal hardware parts of a computer are often referred to as components, while
external hardware devices are usually called peripherals. Together, they all fall under the
category of computer hardware. Software, on the other hand, consists of the programs and
applications that run on computers. Because software runs on computer hardware,
software programs often have system requirements that list the minimum hardware
required for the software to run.

3.2 Processing devices

It Carries out instructions from the program and manipulate the data. The
another name of this processing device is Central Processing Unit (CPU). It is
also Secondary processors. And the most important things is processors
made of silicon and copper. The Agrani bank also have cpu. Several cpu. And
they used DELL brand cpu. In the whole bank there have several cpu.
3.3 Memory device

Memory device often called storage or memory, is a technology consisting

of computer components and recording media used to retain digital data. It is a core
function and fundamental component of computers. There have two types of
memory device.
3.3.1 RAM

RAM is the part of a computer in which information is stored temporarily when a

program is being used. It is a volatile hardware. RAM is a computer memory on
which data can be both read and written and on which the location of data does not
affect the speed of its retrieval; especially, RAM that acts as the main storage
available to the user for programs and data — random access memory. Agrani bank
also use ran in their cpu. They use Toshiba brand 2gb HDDR ram.

3.3.2 ROM

It is basically non-volatile hardware. It is also a permanent storage of

programs. Rom Holds the computer boot directions. It is not a unique part of
computer rather in a cpu where we use motherboard, ROM usually build in
hardware. ROM is "built-in" computer memory containing data that normally can only be
read, not written to. ROM contains the programming that allows your computer to be
"booted up" or regenerated each time you turn it on. Unlike a computer's random access
memory (RAM), the data in ROM is not lost when the computer power is turned off. The
ROM is sustained by a small long-life battery in your computer. If you ever do the hardware
setup procedure with your computer, you effectively will be writing to ROM.
3.4 Storage device

It hold data and programs permanently. But it is not like Ram. It is different
from hardware ram. There have two types of storage device including
magnetic storage and optical storage.

3.4.1 Magnetic storage

Magnetic storage is the manipulation of magnetic fields on a medium in order to record

audio, video or other data. It uses magnet to access data. Floppy disk and hard drive can be
the example of magnetic storage.

Magnetic storage has been around in many forms since 1888 by Oberlan Smith, who
publicized his audio recording on a wire in Electrical World. In broad terms, magnetic
storage mostly works very similarly to Smith's recording. Read and write heads (either
combined or separate) are used to align the magnetic fields on the recording medium. A
great variety of analog and digital devices using magnetic storage.

3.4.2 Optical device

Optical device involves the use of light-sensitive devices to acquire information for
a computer. CD drives and DVD drives. Agrani bank use Asus company’s DVD driver
for their general work.

3.5 INPUT device

In computing, an input device is a peripheral (piece of computer hardware equipment) used
to provide data and control signals to an information processing system such as
a computer or information appliance. Examples of input devices
include keyboards, mouse, scanners, digital cameras and joysticks. As input device Agrani
bank use a4tech mouse, keyboard. Agrani bank limited use HP scanner.
3.6 Output device
An output device is any device used to send data from a computer to another device
or user. Most computer data output that is meant for humans is in the form of audio
or video. Thus, most output devices used by humans are in these categories.
Examples include monitors, projectors, speakers, headphones and printers. Agrani
bank use Samsung 17” monitor, HP printer,

Software
It tells the computer what to do. Software also called a program and thousands of
programs exist. There have two types of software.

4.1 System software

Software used to control the computer and develop and run applications. It includes programs such as
operating systems, database managers, compilers, Web servers, router operating systems and control
programs for other network devices. System software is a type of computer program that is designed
to run a computer’s hardware and application programs. If we think of the computer system as a
layered model, the system software is the interface between the hardware and user applications.
There have two types of system software.
4.1.1 operating system

An operating system (OS) is system software that manages computer

hardware and software resources and provides common services for computer programs.
All computer programs, excluding firmware, require an operating system to function. the
operating system acts as an intermediary between programs and the computer hardware,
although the application code is usually executed directly by the hardware and frequently
makes system calls to an OS function or is interrupted by it. Operating systems are found on
many devices that contain a computer – from cellular phones and video game consoles to web
servers and supercomputers. Agrani bank use WINDOWS XP as their operating system.
4.1.2 system utilities

Utility software is system software designed to help analyze, configure, optimize or

maintain a computer.It is a type of system software, used to support the computer
infrastructure;by contrast with application software, which is aimed at directly performing
tasks that benefit ordinary users.

Network and benefit

5.1 BENEFIT

 Bank can serve the customer easily

 They can reach so many customer in a short time
 Time consuming become short for this
 Bank can store data so easily
 E-banking become possible
 Digital technology is helpful and blessing for us.
 Adding technology in bank make the bank easily reachable to every people.

Recommendation & Conclusion

7.1 Recommendation

While visiting the organization I have faced so much difficulty that should be introduced. I would like
to give some solution. The organization has a tremendous political pressure . Which is leading this
to an uncertainty. This banking sector need a better supervision. The employer of this organization
need to be motivated. The employer should be more responsible towards their works along with
better technological knowledge. Other wise in the near future though it have a huge potentiality all
will be gone in vain. In such a situation. I would like to recommend the followings :

 The employee should be more loyal.

 This organization should be political risk free.
 Technology should be the main concern for the organization.
 The government must have some long term plan related this side
 The organization must focus on E-banking.
 It must be free of corruption.
 Employee should be more skillful toward computer technology.
7.2 conclusion

Finally we can take a review. As our topic was on computer application of banking sector , we study
on it. We choose Agrani bank as a sample. Though there have lot of technology to make E-banking
but we have to work harder and deep to make this happen. We have already discussed about the
technology and computer application used in Agrani bank. We also showed some problem that we
noticed and gave some solution of the problem. We tried to give all the aspect and accessories of
computer that is used in banking sector in this report.
