TRATHFIELDSAYE
made hard work of
its run chase against
Bendigo, but climbed
off the bottom of the BDCA
ladder on Saturday.
In an innings where they
had 73.4 overs to face, the
Jets looked like they would
cruise to victory when they
were 2-192 in the 61st in
pursuit of the Goers’ 5-223.
But a flurry of six wickets
tightened the screws on the
Jets as the Goers charged
back into the game, which
up until Thursday both clubs
thought would be ordinary
conditions until alerted to
rule 4.4(a) that meant Ben-
digo’s rain-affected innings
ended on day one.
However, two youngsters
– Callum McCarty (12 n.o.)
and Jed Rodda (0 n.o.) –
steadied the innings for the
Jets as they passed their
target eight wickets down
in the 72nd over before
finishing at 8-225.
The Jets’ innings featured
another entertaining cameo
from the hard-hitting Pat
Felmingham at No.3.
Coming in during the 31st
over following a 101-run
opening stand between Greg
Lyon and Zoltan Smyth (48),
Felmingham smacked 56
off just 32 balls, featuring 10
boundaries and one six.
Felmingham’s 56 came
in a 60-run partnership for
the second wicket with Lyon
before he was given out
lbw trying to reverse sweep
Goers’ spinner Tom Hart.
Felmingham’s three top
scores this season are 76, 56
and 52, with those combined
184 runs coming off just
133 balls.
Lyon top scored with 64
off 176 for the Jets.
Hart took the first five
wickets to fall for the Goers,
at one stage having 5-49 in
his 21st over before finishing
with 5-70 off 26.
Hart had been on a
hat-trick after dismissing
Beauden Rinaldi (1) and
Bodee Scullie (0) in consec-
utive deliveries.
• The batting brilliance of
Jeremy Brown was again on
display in Eaglehawk’s draw
with White Hills.

superb 150 from Brown.
Beginning the day on 16,
Brown was given some luck
early when he was dropped
by Linc Jacobs at second slip
in the third over and made
the Demons pay dearly as he
added another 121.
Brown was in ominous
touch from the outset, with
28 of his first 29 runs on
Saturday coming in bound-
aries on his way to his 10th
century for the Hawks.
It was also his second of
the season following his 215
against Bendigo United that
set a new Eaglehawk record.
With a 30 against Kanga-
roo Flat last round, Brown
has made 395 runs in his
past three innings, having
earlier made just 29 in his
first three.
As well as Brown’s 150,
the Hawks also had Aaron
Monro make 40 during a
159-run stand for the fourth
wicket with Brown, and Josh
Williams finish 36 n.o.

with Gavin Bowles scoring

• Captain Ben Gunn and
Zane Keighran both scored
the first centuries for Golden
Square for four seasons
in its drawn game against
Sandhurst at Wade Street.
In the only game that
didn’t get a start last week,
Square was sent in by
Sandhurst and was under
pressure early at 2-9 in the
fifth over with openers Jake
Higgins (4) and Kyle Chant
(5) both back in the pavilion.
Those two dismissals then
paved the way for Gunn
and Zeighran to both make
tons in Square’s score of
4-249 declared.
Gunn’s 108 off 133 was his
14th century and he now has
first XI tons at three BDCA
clubs, having also made
eight for Bendigo United and
five for Strathfieldsaye.
Gunn crunched 13
boundaries and two sixes,
while Keighran compiled an
unbeaten 107 off 176 in what
was the 17-year-old’s first
BDCA century.
Keighran struck seven
boundaries and four sixes,
with he and Gunn adding
194 for the third wicket.
Before Saturday the last
Golden Square player to
make a first XI century had
been Scott Johnson – also
against Sandhurst – in round
two of the 2013-14 season.
Opening bowler Nick
Gladman (3-37 off 11) took
three of the four wickets for
the Dragons, who had Craig
and Kayde Howard play
their first game in the first
XI together as father-son
team-mates.
Sandhurst opener Nayana
Palamandadige (70 n.o.)
and Taylor Beard (58) both
made half-centuries in the
Dragons’ tally of 2-138 off 20
overs at stumps.

Resuming at 2-34, the
Power batted for another 60
overs before being bowled
out for 132 in an innings
where Johnston, playing
against his former side,
snared 6-38 off 28.4 overs.
Johnston claimed 5-29
off 21.4 on Saturday having
already had 1-9 off 7 on day
one, while Cameron Taylor
bowled 28 overs unchanged
from the swamp end and
picked up 2-44.
Recruit Sandun
Ranathunga (55) was the
best of the batsmen for the
Power, who lost their last
seven wickets for just 31
runs from 3-101.
The Power’s dismissal left
the Suns 22 overs to chase
133 and they did it with ease,

Starting the day already
on the ropes at 9-85, the
Redbacks added 15 more
runs before being bowled
out for 100.
Dylan Klemm took the
final wicket – Riley Treloar
(22) – to give him 4-22, while
it was also a fourth catch on
debut for Roos’ wicket-keep-
er Riley Burns.
The Roos lost three wick-
ets in surpassing their target
before reaching 250.
Dylan Gibson passed
50 for the third time this
season with a 60-ball knock
of 66 that helped guide the
Roos over the line, while
Chris Barber – who wasn’t
