THE LAST JEDI
The FIRST ORDER reigns. Having

decimated the peaceful Republic,
Supreme Leader Snoke now deploys
his merciless legions to seize
military control of the galaxy.
Only General Leia Organa’s band

of RESISTANCE fighters stand
against the rising tyranny,
certain that Jedi Master Luke
Skywalker will return and
restore a spark of hope to the
fight.
But the Resistance has been

exposed. Pursued by the First
Order's overwhelming forces, the
brave heroes mount a desperate
search for safe haven...
PAN DOWN TO:
1 GENERAL HUX'S SHUTTLE DESCENDS TO THE PLANET KORITH, A DARK,

DESOLATE WORLD OF COLD ROCK AND OCEAN
2 EXT. SITH TEMPLE, KORITH - NIGHT
The shuttle lands outside the ancient Sith temple. The

structure is carved out of the side of a dark mountain.
SUPREME GUARDS stand with saber staffs on each side of
the temple entrance.

GENERAL HUX exits the shuttle ramp and enters the

temple. STORMTROOPERS follow him and then wait at the
ramp.
3 INT. THRONE ROOM, SITH TEMPLE - MOMENTS LATER
Hux approaches SUPREME LEADER SNOKE and LORD KYLO REN.

Snoke sits on his great throne, carved from the same
dark, twisted stone that makes up the temple's
interior. Snoke is a large, deformed, and menacing
figure, adorned in dark robes. Kylo Ren stands before
the throne, wearing his mask (which he continues to
wear through the last scene), facing Hux as he enters.
KYLO REN
Kneel.
Hux kneels, reluctant to obey Ren.
KYLO REN (CONT’D)

You have failed the Supreme
Leader, General. You have failed
me.
HUX
(indignant)
Supreme Leader, we have located
the Rebel flee--
Hux starts choking, as we hear the REVERBERATION OF THE

DARK SIDE at work.
Ren raises his hand and Hux lifts above the floor,
clutching his throat and struggling for breath.
Hux's neck snaps and he's tossed onto the floor like a
limp rag doll.
Ren turns to Snoke.

SNOKE
Good... Soon your training will
be complete. One final test
remains before you can realize
your full power and truly call
yourself Master... You know what
it is.
KYLO REN
Send me after the rebel fleet
now. I am ready for the final
test. I killed my father, I can
kill her. She means nothing to
me.
SNOKE
Then go. And do not fail.
Ren turns and exits.
4 EXT. JEDI TEMPLE, AHCH-TO - DAY
The first Jedi temple stands peaceful on its beautiful,

green and rocky island. The temple is simply a great,
old tree, jutting out of a cliff face and surrounded by
foliage and a thick fog.
LUKE
(V.O.)
Breathe...
5 INT. MAIN CHAMBER, JEDI TEMPLE - CONTINUOUS
The wooden interior is simple, as if a large tree had

been carefully hollowed out to create an inner chamber.
Sun rays pour in from gaps at the top of tree,
illuminating the center area, where REY sits. She
levitates slightly above ground, her eyes closed. She's
wearing a simple, Jedi-like tunic. The Skywalker
lightsaber is at her side.

LUKE
(O.S.)
Feel The Force flow through
you... From the tree... The
rock... There is nothing but
this moment, nothing but oneness
with The Force.
CUT TO:
6 KYLO REN, MASKED, APPROACHING WITH HIS IGNITED CROSSGUARD

SABER, SURROUNDED BY RAIN AND FOG
CUT TO:
Rey struggles to concentrate.
LUKE
(O.S.)
Focus... Concentrate...
CUT TO:
7 CHILD REY ON JAKKU, LOOKING UP AT AN ESCAPING SPACESHIP,

SCREAMING, HER ARM HELD BY UNKAR PLUTT
CUT TO:
Rey struggles, barely holding on.
LUKE
(O.S.)
Rey...
CUT TO:
5.
8 THE ENTIRE RESISTANCE FLEET IS BURNING AND BREAKING APART IN

SPACE, UNDER FIRE BY THE FIRST ORDER
LUKE
(V.O.)
Rey!
CUT TO:
Rey opens her eyes.
LUKE SKYWALKER steps forward, out of the shadows, and

searches her eyes. He's wearing his simple Jedi robes.
REY
I'm sorry.
LUKE
Don't be sorry... Take it from
me... Failure is the best
teacher.
9 EXT. ISLAND CLIFF - DAY
Rey practices her saber technique with Luke. They wield

wooden swords.
Luke's technique is more fluid and refined, yet he is

challenged by Rey's abilities.
Luke disarms Rey, sending her sword flying in the air

and catching it with his other hand.
REY
(hesitant)
I saw the Resistance fleet
burning...
LUKE
Rey...

REY
They haven't even heard a word
from us.
LUKE
The second we communicate with
the Resistance we will expose
both the temple and the fleet's
location...
REY
There has to be something more
we can do...
LUKE
If you want to help them, truly
help them, then you must
train...
REY
I defeated Kylo Ren.
LUKE
Wasn't he injured at the time?
Luke hands her sword back. They engage, but Rey is

obviously still distracted and her heart is not in it.
Luke whacks her on the arm.
REY
I'm sorry. Maybe I need a break
from this...
LUKE
Very well.
Luke turns away. He grabs the lightsaber at his side

(his same lightsaber from Episode VI), ignites the
green blade, and swings around at Rey, who ducks and
dodges.
7.
She ignites her saber and their blades clash.
LUKE (CONT’D)
Let's try real sabers for a
change.
Luke drives her back to the edge of the cliff with his
intricate swings. Rey struggles to deflect.
Rey reaches the cliff edge and jumps over Luke's head
in a somersault, clashing with his blade.
She swings at Luke as he stands at the very edge,

causing him to stumble backward.
Luke falls off the cliff.
REY
Luke!
Rey runs to the edge. Luke levitates himself back,

smiling, like a true sky walker.
LUKE
So what did we learn today?
REY
Real sabers are more fun than
wooden swords?
Luke gently wacks her across the head.
REY (CONT’D)
And being in the moment, truly
in the moment, will allow you to
fully embrace The Force...
LUKE
And be guided by it, yes...
Well, enough play time. How
about some dinner?

10 EXT. STONE HUT VILLAGE - NIGHT
Luke, Rey, Chewie, and R2 sit around a camp fire in the

center of the small village of cobblestone huts.
There is a peaceful calm as everyone stares into the

flames. Rey hesitates to say something.
REY
Master Skywalker, there's been
something on my mind...
LUKE
You want to ask me about your
parents--if I know who they are.
REY
Yes.
LUKE
(sympathetically)
No... And I cannot search for
them, I'm sorry.
REY
(trying to hide her
disappointment)
Because Snoke will detect it.
LUKE
There was a time when I was
aware of almost every force
sensitive child and their family
throughout the galaxy... But
when Snoke appeared, and when he
corrupted Ben Solo...
Luke stares into the fire and into his painful past,
for a moment. He becomes alarmed, closes his eyes
suddenly and concentrates.

REY
Is it Snoke?
LUKE
Yes, he's searching for me
again. And Leia... They've found
the Resistance fleet...
Chewie moans, concerned.
LUKE (CONT’D)
Somehow they've tracked them
again, I just can't see how.
11 EXT. SPACE - CONTINUOUS
The Resistance fleet engages the First Order fleet,

hopelessly outnumbered.
There is damage on both sides, but the Resistance has

more ships and fighters being overtaken and destroyed.
Poe Dameron's X-wing zooms by, pursued by two TIE

fighters.
12 INT. COCKPIT, POE'S X-WING - CONTINUOUS
POE DAMERON struggles to shake the TIE fighters.
RED 6
(V.O.)
Gold leader, you have two on
your tail.
POE
I know, I know. Don't worry
about me, just keep hitting
those gun turrets! BB-8, divert
one quarter shield power to
blasters.
10.
13 EXT. POE'S X-WING - CONTINUOUS
In the rear of the craft, BB-8 whirs an acknowledgment

and gets to work diverting the power.
Poe's X-wing engages a Star Destroyer, taking out gun

turrets, while winding and dodging blasts from the TIE
fighters.
Poe manages a quick turn that sends one of the enemy

fighters crashing into an exploding turret.
An A-wing swoops down and destroys the remaining

fighter on Poe's tail.
In the background, a Resistance cruiser explodes and

breaks apart.
Poe is startled by the explosion.
POE
We lost the Protector!
LEIA
(V.O.)
All craft prepare to make the
jump to hyperspace.
POE
Are you sure, General? Odds are
they'll just track us again.
11.
16 INT. BRIDGE, INDEPENDENCE - MOMENTS LATER
LEIA ORGANA stands at the central command console of

the Resistance flagship, surrounded by the frantic
bridge crew and commanders, including Admiral Ackbar,
Admiral Statura, and C-3PO.
LEIA
Trust me, Gold Leader, I've been
doing this a lot longer than
you.
Leia turns to C-3PO.
LEIA (CONT’D)
Threepio, you better be right
about this nebula.
C-3PO
Master Luke recommended it
himself as a potential hideout
location for the fleet, if it
should ever come to it.
17 INT. DOCKING BAY, INDEPENDENCE - CONTINUOUS
FINN sneaks over to a Resistance shuttle. He lowers the

ramp, and looks around nervously.
TC-98
(O.S.)
Excuse me, sir, where do you
think you're taking that
shuttle?
Finn, startled, turns and finds the droid, TC-98,

approaching him closely.
FINN
What? Oh, hey, TC-98. How are
you?

TC-98
Where do you think you're taking
that shuttle?
FINN
Shuttle? Oh no, I'm not taking
the shuttle, I'm just inspecting
it.
TC-98
Sir, I cannot allow you to board
that shuttle, you don't have
clearance.
FINN
Uh-huh. Oh my God, what's that?!
Finn points somewhere behind TC-98. The droid turns and

Finn rips out one of its wires, deactivating it.
Finn rushes onto the shuttle.
18 INT. BRIDGE, INDEPENDENCE - CONTINUOUS
ACKBAR
We're still at a loss to
determine how they tracked us in
the first place.
STATURA
We must have a defector on
board. It's the only possible
explanation at this point.
ACKBAR
Unless the First Order has
developed a new scanning or
probe technology that we are
unaware of.

LEIA
(to herself)
Luke, where are you?
(to the console)
All craft, you have the
coordinates. Engage hyperspace
now!
19 EXT. SPACE - MOMENTS LATER
The Independence snaps into hyperspace, followed by the

rest of its fleet.
Finn's lone, small shuttle is left behind.
20 INT. COCKPIT, FINN'S SHUTTLE - CONTINUOUS
Finn looks at the massive First Order fleet floating

beyond his window.
FINN
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. Where's
the hyperdrive?
Finn frantically fumbles over the control panel.
FINN (CONT’D)
Oh, there it is.
Finn's shuttle snaps into hyperspace.
22 INT. BRIDGE, SUPER STAR DESTROYER SUPREMACY - MOMENTS LATER
ADMIRAL KEEDRY looks out at empty space beyond the main

viewport, surrounded by his officers and crew.
14.
BRIDGE CREW #1
Admiral, all enemy ships have
jumped to hyperspace.
KEEDRY
Yes, I can see that.
OFFICER #1
Shall we calculate every
possible trajectory?
OFFICER #2
Admiral, Lord Ren's shuttle will
be arriving shortly. He is
requesting a status report.
KEEDRY
(indignant)
Calculate every possible
trajectory, but monitor all
frequencies carefully. You can
tell Lord Ren that we have the
Rebels on the run.
Keedry starts choking and clutches his throat. He falls

to the deck and dies.
OFFICER #1
(nervously looking around)
I suggest... We await for Lord
Ren's shuttle.
OFFICER #2
Very good, sir.
Leia stands at the command console. The hyperspace aura

surrounds them outside the viewports.
15.
STATURA
General, a shuttle was reported
stolen shortly before we went to
lightspeed... It was Finn.
Leia looks away, concerned.
Finn's shuttle descends to the planet Ahch-To.
25 EXT. ISLAND, AHCH-TO - DAY
The shuttle approaches the island and zeroes in on the

Millennium Falcon.
CHEWBACCA watches the shuttle approach, his crossbow

readied. He growls at the shuttle as it lands beside
him.
The ramp lowers and Finn exits. He and Chewie embrace.
FINN
Hey, Chewie... Where's Rey?
26 EXT. STONE HUT VILLAGE - MOMENTS LATER
Rey sits in the center of the small village. In the

background, alien CARETAKERS attend to the daily chores
of maintaining the village and preparing food. The
Caretakers are a quiet, peaceful bunch, adorned in
simple robes. Rey's legs are crossed, her eyes closed,
as rocks, and R2D2, levitate around her.
Chewie leads Finn into the center of the village. Finn

is elated to see his old friend.
16.
Chewie growls something to Rey. She smiles and her eyes

open, the rocks and droid descending slowly to the
ground.
She runs over to Finn and embraces him hard.
FINN
Wow, you must have missed me.
REY
Oh, shut up. I'm so glad you're
okay. The last time I saw you...
FINN
I had a back problem? Well,
that's what spinal prosthetics
are for.
REY
What are you doing here?
FINN
(stumbling)
I'm--I'm on a mission to find
you. I mean, we haven't heard a
word from you.
REY
Then Leia sent you?
FINN
Well...
REY
She didn't send you.
Finn shakes his head.
REY (CONT’D)
You stole a shuttle... Great.
17.
FINN
I've been worried about you...
We've all been worried. I mean,
what happened? Did you find him?
Luke Skywalker?
REY
(nodding)
This way.
Rey takes Finn's hand, which surprises him, and she

leads him out of the village and up a hill.
27 EXT. HILL - CONTINUOUS
Rey leads Finn by the hand and points forward. Finn is

a bit entranced by what he sees.
Luke Skywalker stands near the edge of a cliff, his

hood up, looking to the horizon.
FINN
Is that him?
REY
Yes.
28 INT. MAIN CHAMBER, JEDI TEMPLE - MOMENTS LATER
Rey and Finn sit on each side of Luke as he sits in the

center of the chamber, eyes closed and concentrating.
LUKE
I still see nothing about a
defector or a tracking device.
Snoke must be taking extra care
to block this from me... Wait, I
see something else... Yes, I'm
certain now... Snoke is
developing a new weapon...
(MORE)
18.
LUKE (CONT’D)
Enormous destructive power...
It's... It's...
(with a heavy sigh)
I lost it.
Luke opens his eyes and looks to Rey and Finn, who look
panicked.
REY
If Snoke is developing a new
superweapon, we must put a stop
to it. We can't allow another
catastrophe like Starkiller.
FINN
The Resistance is hurting enough
as it is.
LUKE
I know what you want me to do...
But I cannot leave. With the
power that Snoke draws from the
Sith temple, he could control
people's minds, create
apparitions, locate and kill
every force sensitive child in
the galaxy... Or turn them to
the Dark Side...
FINN
Is that how he got to Ben Solo?
LUKE
(nodding)
It wasn't until I found this
temple and the ancient texts
that I learned the full extent
of his power, and the extent of
my ability to block him... I
cannot leave.
19.
REY
Luke, you can't leave. But I
can. We have to stop Snoke from
building another super weapon. I
know my training is not
complete--
LUKE
(firmly)
No, your training is not
complete.
Rey, becoming frustrated, tries to keep control.
REY
I can't just sit and do nothing!
My friends are dying out there!
Your friends are dying!
Rey runs off. Finn follows after her.
29 EXT. JEDI TEMPLE - MOMENTS LATER
Finn looks around for Rey but can't see her.
FINN
Rey? Rey?!
30 EXT. ISLAND CLIFF - MOMENTS LATER
Rey runs along the cliff, ignoring Finn's calls for her
in the background.
She stops, catches her breath, and endures a wave of

frustration and sadness.
We hear a CHILD'S CRY. Rey turns toward the sound. She

follows the crying to:

31 INT. DARK SIDE CAVE - MOMENTS LATER
Rey enters the dark cave, hesitant.
She ignites her saber to cast light. She finds a

corridor. She follows it, apprehensive but curious,
lighting the way with her saber.
As she walks on, we hear REY'S SCREAM from when she

witnessed Kylo Ren murder Han Solo.
REY
(V.O., faint)
No!
UNKAR PLUTT
(V.O., faint)
I'll give you forty for her.
Rey approaches a thick mist.
MAZ KANATA
(V.O., faint)
The saber calls to you...
Out of the mist appears CHILD REY, pleading with a

dark, hooded figure.
CHILD REY
(weeping)
No, please don't leave me!
Please don't... Please...
LUKE
I'm sorry, Rey. I must. I'm
sorry.
The hooded figure faces Rey. It's Luke.

21.
Rey rushes into the temple, enraged, and finds Luke

sitting in the center, his eyes closed.
Rey ignites her saber. Luke opens his eyes.
REY
Are you my father?! Did you
leave me on Jakku?!
LUKE
(earnestly, pleading)
No.
REY
Don't lie to me!
Rey advances on Luke and puts the blade up to his face.

Luke does not flinch.
LUKE
That cave is filled with the
Dark Side of The Force. It is
meant to confuse you and hurt
you, but also to reveal your
deepest pain and anger...
They look into each other's eyes for a moment, the

master and student attempting to read each other.
REY
You wanted me to see that...
LUKE
Do you understand? This is why
you must complete your
training...
Luke looks to Rey, pleadingly.
Rey retracts her saber blade.

REY
(crushed)
For a moment, I thought you
really were my father...
LUKE
I'm sorry, Rey...
Rey searches her feelings for a moment, and then

becomes resolute.
REY
I can't stay here... I'm sorry,
but I can't.
Luke looks away in disappointment.
LUKE
You must do what you feel is
right, of course.
33 EXT. FALCON, ISLAND CLIFF - NIGHT
Rey, Finn, and Chewie load a few supplies onto the

Falcon.
Rey turns and finds Luke standing nearby, holding a

small collection of ancient Jedi texts. She approaches
him.
LUKE
I want you to have these...
REY
Are you sure?
Luke hands the texts to her.
REY (CONT’D)
I will come back. I promise.

Luke smiles a bit, turns, and walks away.
34 EXT. ISLAND, AHCH-TO - MOMENTS LATER
The Falcon zooms off into:
35 EXT. SPACE - MOMENTS LATER
The Falcon snaps into hyperdrive above Ahch-To.
36 INT. FALCON COCKPIT - CONTINUOUS
Rey and Chewie pilot the Falcon as Finn and R2 sit

behind them. Rey turns to Finn.
FINN
So what's the plan, exactly?
REY
If we try to contact the
Resistance, our transmission
could be detected... All we know
is that the First Order is
developing a new superweapon and
we need to put a stop to it... I
know a pretty good place to
start looking...
Rey returns to the controls.
FINN
Okay--wait... Please don't say
Jakku...
37 EXT. NEBULA - CONTINUOUS
The Resistance fleet, its ships scorched and damaged,

floats inside a thick, colorful nebula.
24.
38 INT. LEIA'S COMMAND CHAMBERS - CONTINUOUS
Leia sits at her desk/control panel, facing Poe.
POE
I just don't believe that Finn
is a double agent, not for a
second.
LEIA
Neither do I. My guess is he
went after Rey.
POE
I don't understand... Where is
Luke? Why won't he help us?
LEIA
I wish I knew... There's no
telling when the First Order
will track us again...
Investigations are underway to
find this spy, and if their
spies are as good as ours...
POE
(nodding)
Could be a while.
LEIA
I have a mission for you. What
I'm about to tell you, you have
to keep absolutely top secret.
Can I trust you?
POE
Of course.
25.
The Falcon drops out of hyperspace and descends to

ZOLIS STATION, a great space station protected by a
dense energy shield, emitted by thousands of floating
generators, framed by a beautiful arch. Throughout the
arch are many gateways for ships to pass through.
Rey and Chewie pilot the ship, while Finn and R2 sit
behind them.
REY
Zolis Station. I heard many
rumors about this place on
Jakku. An infamous retreat for
gamblers, smugglers, and slime.
FINN
Something tells me they're going
to recognize the Falcon.
Chewie pipes up, worried.
REY
It's okay, Chewie, Luke has
trained me in The Force.
Chewie grunts, unimpressed.
41 EXT. LANDING PAD, ZOLIS STATION - CONTINUOUS
The Falcon flies through one of the gateways and lands

on a pad, surrounded by buildings and hordes of DIVERSE
PEDESTRIANS, an intense night-life scene illuminated by
colorful lights and advertisements.
26.
42 EXT. THE STRIP, ZOLIS STATION - CONTINUOUS
Rey, Finn, Chewie, and R2 exit the Falcon and stroll

through the dense crowd. Rey walks with her staff and
has the Skywalker lightsaber holstered at her hip.
Chewie has his crossbow slung over his back. Finn also
has a blaster holstered at his hip.
FINN
This place is really something.
It's almost hard to believe
there's a war going on.
Chewie growls disapprovingly.
REY
(to Chewie)
No doubt there.
FINN
What'd he say?
REY
He said places like this help to
fund the war... Weapons builders
and investors. Arms dealers.
People who don't care what side
wins, as long as the money keeps
flowing.
FINN
So... Uh... What's your plan?
REY
Use The Force.
FINN
How's that coming?
REY
Not well. This place is a bit
distracting...
27.
Rey senses something wrong.
REY (CONT’D)
Look out!
Rey knocks Finn to the ground, barely missing a stun

blast.
Chewie roars and opens fire on DOLEN KREE, a masked and

armored bounty hunter with a rocket pack.
Kree rockets into the air, avoiding Chewie's blasts.

Pedestrians run away in fear and clear the area.
KREE
Get them!
Kree's gang of PIRATE THUGS emerge from the scrambling

crowd and engage Rey, Finn, and Chewie with stun
staffs.
R2 zaps one of the thugs with electricity.
REY
Finn!
Rey throws her lightsaber to Finn. He ignites it and

clashes with a stun staff.
Rey wields her staff and incapacitates one of the

thugs.
Chewie picks up one of the thugs and throws him into

another. He then tears the arms off another thug.
Kree fires stun blasts at Rey, who rolls across the

ground, dodging them.
Rey closes her eyes, reaches out toward the flying

bounty hunter, and deactivates the safety locks on his
rocket pack.
28.
Kree screams and falls away from his rocket, which

flies off and crashes into a nearby structure.
Rey stops Kree from falling to his death and levitates

him above the ground.
Finn slashes through an attacking thug and Chewie

knocks out the last remaining attacker.
Rey holds Kree frozen above the ground.
REY (CONT’D)
Who are you?
Kree grunts and moans as he struggles to move.
REY (CONT’D)
You will tell me who you are and
who sent you!
KREE
My name is Dolan Kree, I was
hired by a First Order officer
on Mustafar. He didn't tell me
his name.
Patrol hovercars surround them in the air. A squad of

ZOLIS POLICE surround the group with blasters.
PATROL CAR COMMANDER

(V.O., loud speaker)
This is the Zolis Police. Drop
your weapons and put up your
hands.
Finn looks to Rey. She drops Kree to the ground and

then drops her staff.
REY
(to Finn)
Do it.
(MORE)

REY (CONT’D)
(to Chewie)
Chewie, do it.
Chewie growls and drops his weapon. Finn drops the

lightsaber.
43 INT. ZOLIS POLICE CELL - LATER
Rey, Finn, Chewie, and R2 sit in the cell, immersed in

awkward silence.
Chewie growls mockingly.
REY
Okay, well, what was I supposed
to do? It's not my fault some
bounty hunter caught up with the
infamous Falcon. Might as well
change the name of that ship to
`Here I Am, Come Catch Me'.
Chewie laughs.
FINN
(chuckling)
That is pretty funny.
Chewie moans sadly.
REY
I know... I wish Han was here
too.
The door to the cell flies open to reveal a shadowy

figure. When he enters the light, we see that it is
LANDO CALRISSIAN, in a slick suit and cape. He's
holding their weapons. He smiles when he sees
Chewbacca. Lando is an older man now but still has much
of that ol' spark and charisma.
30.
LANDO
Chewie!
Chewie growls at him in anger.
LANDO (CONT’D)
Hey, come on, buddy, you can't
blame this one on me.
Lando throws him his crossbow and then tosses Rey and
Finn their weapons.
REY
Are you Lando Calrissian?
LANDO
The one and only... Let me
guess, Princess Leia sent you
here to put me out of business
again!
44 INT. LANDO'S OFFICE - LATER
Lando enters, followed by Rey, Finn, Chewie, and R2.

The office is plush and there are refreshments being
laid out by droids.
LANDO
Help yourselves to some
refreshments.
Finn notices the spread and heads over. Chewie pushes

him out of the way and beats him to it.

Chewie roars in agreement.
LANDO (CONT’D)
All right. Well, hey, anything I
can do to help my friends at the
Resistance, count me in.
REY
We only know that Snoke is
developing a superweapon, we
don't know what it is, or
where...
(stumbling)
That's it.
Lando nods, looking to Finn and Chewie, amazed by the

lack of detail.
LANDO
Okay...
Lando sits at his desk and types on his control panel.
LANDO (CONT’D)
Got to start somewhere, right?
Good news is, I think you
probably started at the right
place...
A hologram appears in the center of the room,

displaying the station and lines that chart direction
of traffic through it.

LANDO (CONT’D)
As much as I've tried to curtail
it, this station has become an
epicenter of First Order
financiers and sympathizers.
The hologram zooms out, showing the sheer number of

ships passing through the station and the thousands of
different directions they come from and travel to.
LANDO (CONT’D)
And as you can see here, they
come from all over the place...
However, there is one who I have
noticed comes here a lot.
As Lando types, many lines out of the bunch are

highlighted in red. A photo of Zeg Targa appears, a
sleazy looking businessman.
LANDO (CONT’D)
His name is Zeg Targa, weapons
financier and tycoon. Over the
past few months, actually ever
since the Starkiller incident,
he's been coming here
constantly, wheeling and dealing
in the casinos. He's got
something big going on, there's
no doubt about it. And you're in
luck, he's at the tables right
now as we speak.
Rey and Finn look to each other with hope.
Leia stands at the command console, surrounded by the

buzzing officers and crew, including Ackbar, Statura,
and C-3PO.

Leia...

(whispered)

(V.O.)
Ben is coming after you now. Do
you sense it?
Leia closes her eyes.
LEIA
Yes, I sense him drawing near.
LUKE
(V.O.)

There is an Old Republic
stronghold there...
LEIA
Luke, we need you...
LUKE
(V.O.)
I must stay at the temple--
Luke levitates above the floor, his eyes closed.
LUKE
--to keep Snoke's powers at bay.
I'm taking a risk... Snoke has
detected our link--I can sense
him!

48 INT. THRONE ROOM, SITH TEMPLE - CONTINUOUS
Snoke is cradling his forehead with his hand, in

intense concentration. He quickly opens his eyes and
lifts his head.
SNOKE
Ahch-To! He's on Ahch-To!
Leia senses that the connection is gone, fearing for

her brother. She turns to her officers.
LEIA
Set calculations for the planet
Galt.
50 EXT. NEBULA - MOMENTS LATER
The First Order fleet snaps out of hyperspace inside

the nebula.
51 INT. BRIDGE, SUPREMACY - CONTINUOUS
Kylo Ren looks out the forward windows and finds the
nebula empty of Resistance ships.
Snoke's hologram appears behind him.
SNOKE
She detected your presence!

KYLO REN
There was nothing for her to
detect, Supreme Leader.
Skywalker must have helped her.
SNOKE
Perhaps... Your final test draws
near... Once you destroy the
General, we shall then destroy
the Master.
Luke lowers to the ground and opens his eyes. He looks

to someone in front of him.
LUKE
A stupid gamble... Ben will come
for me now.
The ghostly apparition of YODA stands before him.
YODA
Afraid are you?
LUKE
Master Yoda, I couldn't kill my
father, and I can't kill my
nephew. And I can't turn him
back like I did Vader, he's too
far gone now.
YODA
Then perhaps trust The Force you
must.

53 INT. CASINO, ZOLIS STATION - CONTINUOUS
Lando approaches a gaming table, where ZEG TARGA,

adorned in a lavish suit, gambles and converses with
the rabble.
LANDO
Zeg, how's your evening playing
out?
TARGA
Oh, you know, Mr. Administrator,
could always be better.
LANDO
Of course.
Lando gestures toward R2, who quickly brings a tray of

drinks over to Targa, but intentionally runs over his
foot at the same time.
TARGA
Why, thank you--ow!
LANDO
Mr. Targa, may I also introduce
you to a new, very lovely friend
of mine?
Lando gestures toward another table and Targa looks.

It's Rey, in a sexy dress, with her hair and make-up
done up. She smiles flirtingly at Targa.
TARGA
Why, Mr. Administrator, you know
I love making new friends.
LANDO
Hmm, I bet you do.
Lando waves Rey over. She saunters over, briefly

tripping over her dress, and comes up close to Targa.

She wraps her arm around one of his and smiles wide at
him.
TARGA
Let's just hope she brings good
luck.
LANDO
(muttered)
I'm not sure she believes in
luck.
Targa plays the game, as Rey gets affectionate with

him. She caresses his hair, smiling, then places her
fingers on his head and closes her eyes.
Lando shoots side glances at them as Targa plays on.
Rey opens her eyes and looks to Lando. She nods.
Rey leans over and whispers in Targa's ear.
REY
It's time to cash out and have a
drink at the Administrator's
office.
TARGA
You know what, I think it's time
to cash out.
Targa's friends moan in disappointment.
TARGA (CONT’D)
Well, can't have fun forever...
Mr. Administrator, how about a
drink at your office?
LANDO
I thought you'd never ask.

54 INT. LANDO'S OFFICE - LATER
Targa enters, followed by Rey and Lando. Lando locks

the door behind them. Targa turns to Rey and Lando as
Finn and Chewie appear with blasters behind him.
TARGA
(to Rey and Lando)
I forgot why we came here...
(turning back around)
Oh, yeah to have a drink--
Targa is knocked to the floor by a stun blast.
LANDO
I'll keep him in the cell, for
however long it takes for the
First Order to arrive. No doubt
word is getting around that the
Falcon is here.
FINN
We've got to stop flying in that
ship.
LANDO
Hey, that hunk of junk is still
the fastest ship in the galaxy.
Plus, I had my people install a
state-of-the-art cloaking
device. That should help you out
a bit.
REY
What will you do? The First
Order will be arriving.
LANDO
Oh, don't worry about me,
there's always another
misadventure around the corner.
39.
55 EXT. SPACE - LATER
The Falcon flies away from the station and snaps into
hyperspace.
Rey and Chewie pilot, while Finn and R2 sit behind

them. Rey is changed back into her Jedi clothes.
REY
Engaging cloaking device.
FINN
You're sure this is the planet?
REY
Yes. It was the only thing on
his mind... Mostly.
Chewie growls and disengages the hyperdrive.
REY (CONT’D)
Hyperdrive disengaged.
The Falcon approaches DESTRA, a planet that is covered

by immense factories.
REY
Destra, the factory world.
FINN
I heard the whole planet is
pretty much run by droids and
slaves.

Rey looks to Finn, disturbed by the word 'slave'.
REY
Looks like the cloaking device
is working. We're not being
detected.
59 EXT. OUTSKIRTS OF DESTRA CAPITAL FACTORY - NIGHT
The Falcon lands on the outskirts of the main factory.

The factory complex and surrounding structures are
immense, filling the landscape to the horizon. Plumes
of black smoke cover most of the sky. The outskirts are
littered with innumerable pieces of junk and debris.
Rey, Finn, and Chewie exit the ramp.
Chewie sniffs the air and growls a complaint.
FINN
(cringing)
You're right, Chewie, this place
stinks.
REY
I better do this alone. The more
of us there are, the more chance
of being detected.
FINN
I don't like this.
REY
Trust me.
Rey kisses him on the cheek and wanders off. Chewie

moans after her.
Finn holds his cheek for a moment, a bit dazed.

41.
60 EXT. FACTORY INNER COMPLEX - LATER
Rey sneaks through the factory complex, avoiding GUARD

DROIDS.
She spots an oncoming guard droid and hugs the corner

of a building. She uses The Force to move a piece of
junk in the distance, creating a noise and distracting
the droid. As the guard turns and walks in the other
direction, she quietly walks on.
Rey hears a CHILD'S CRY, somewhere far off. She grabs

her saber and follows the sound.
61 INT. TOOL FORGE - MOMENTS LATER
Rey quietly sneaks into the doorway and peeks inside.
A large, husky alien, GRAV, is striking a young boy of

about ten years of age, JERIK, with a stun staff. The
boy cries out in terrible pain.
JERIK
I won't do it again! I'm sorry!
GRAV
That's right, you won't! I'll
make sure of that!
Grav raises the stun staff again. Rey grabs it from

behind him, whacks him in the face with it, and then
shoves the electrical end into his large belly.
Grav falls to the floor, crying out in agony.
REY
(enraged)
How do you like it?!
Grav passes out. Rey stops and turns to the child.

REY (CONT’D)
Are you all right?
JERIK
(bewildered)
Yeah...
(looks to her saber)
Are you a Jedi?
REY
Yes. What's your name?
REY (CONT’D)
I'm Jerik... Have the Jedi
finally come to free the slaves?
Rey looks into the boy's eyes and searches her

feelings.
REY (CONT’D)
Yes. Where are the others?
62 EXT. DROID REPAIR ROOM - MOMENTS LATER
Various SLAVE CHILDREN assist in repairing damaged

assembly and guard droids, overseen by guard droids and
an alien SUPERVISOR.
The Supervisor turns and finds Rey. The guard droids

aim their weapons on her.
REY
(to the Supervisor)
You will take the guard droids
on a long walk. You will not
stop until you've walked around
the entire planet and have come
back to the same place again.

SUPERVISOR
(to the guard droids)
Come on, we're going for a walk.
The droids follow the Supervisor out the door. Rey

smiles warmly at the baffled children.
63 INT. SECOND TOOL FORGERY - MOMENTS LATER
Two slave children work in the forgery while a guard

droid supervises them.
A lightsaber stabs through the droid and it falls

apart.
The children turn and find Rey, the rest of the

children standing behind her.
64 INT. SUPERVISOR QUARTERS - MOMENTS LATER
A young girl is doing laundry for a large, fat

SUPERVISOR #2 who is asleep in a chair.
The door flies open and it's Rey, her saber ignited.
The girl and Rey look at the sleeping blob in the
chair, undisturbed by the noise.
Rey retracts her blade.
REY
(to the girl)
Come on.
65 INT. INCINERATOR CHAMBER - MOMENTS LATER
Jerik leads Rey along the catwalk of a large

incinerator chamber. Below them, a large number of
slave children are throwing old droid and machine parts
into the fires.
44.
Rey is overwhelmed by the sight of so many children.
REY
Jerik, there are too many...
They can't all fit on my ship...
How many more are there?
JERIK
Thousands. All over the planet.
The Jedi haven't come to free
all of us?
Tears well up in Rey's eyes.
REY
I'm sorry, Jerik... I wish I
could free all of you. I really
do. But I can't... Not today.
We'll come back for them another
time. I promise.
Jerik looks down, disappointed, and nods.
REY (CONT’D)
Jerik, I need you to tell me
about the main factory...
66 EXT. OUTSKIRTS OF DESTRA CAPITAL FACTORY - MOMENTS LATER
Finn and Chewie sit outside the Falcon, playing a card

game.
Chewie roars angrily. Finn throws down his cards.
FINN
Okay, you're right! You win!
Chewie chuckles and takes the cards.
Finn looks toward the factory complex, worried. He

thinks of something humorous.

FINN (CONT’D)
Hey, you know what Force ability
Rey should work on... I think
the ability to say, `Hi, guys,
I'm okay' every once in a
while... Yeah... That's a good
one... Master Luke could work on
that too...
Rey comes running over, followed by the large group of

slave children, including Jerik.
Finn and Chewie stand up, shocked.
FINN (CONT’D)
Oh, you got to be kidding me.
REY
They're hungry! I'll be back!
Rey runs off, leaving the children behind. They all

turn and watch her run off.
FINN
Rey! Rey?! You're joking,
right?!
Finn looks to the small and dirty faces of the

children, all of them looking to him with despair and
hope.
FINN (CONT’D)
Uh... You guys hungry? Anybody
have any food allergies?
The children look to each other, confused.
FINN (CONT’D)
Oh, boy. We got to have
something in the fridge.
46.
Finn heads into the ship. Chewie moans sympathetically

toward the children. They smile at the Wookie. R2 beep
boops a greeting. The children laugh a bit.
67 INT. MAIN FACTORY - MOMENTS LATER
Rey sneaks into the great assembly line chamber of the

main factory.
She looks up to the vast network of shafts above her,

and the many floating droids who attend to the
assembly. The lines are producing weapons and parts for
starships, for both the First Order and the Resistance.
She spots the office observatory, near the ceiling of

the great factory.
Rey makes an incredible leap from the ground and onto a

shaft. An assembly droid turns and nearly spots her,
but she leaps again to a ceiling rafter, directly
across from the front window of the office observatory.
She looks inside the observatory, where there are

several droids at work, and an alien boss, TRAKLO,
overseeing the droids.
Rey notices a ventilation shaft extending from the top

of the observatory and then spots a vent behind her.
She ignites her saber, cuts open the vent, and crawls
inside.
68 INT. OFFICE OBSERVATORY - MOMENTS LATER
Rey falls through the ceiling vent and into the office.
Traklo turns and pulls out a blaster. Rey calls the
blaster into her hand with The Force and stuns Traklo.
An ALARM sounds. The droids swarm on her.
Rey ignites her lightsaber and takes them out.

47.
She then works the control panel and cancels the alarm.
She locks the door before guard droids can enter.
She tries to access secret data. She's blocked by

access code requirements.
Rey looks to Traklo, kneels down, and places her hand

on his head. After a moment, she returns to the console
and enters the correct code.
She finds the plans for the secret weapon. She enters a
data stick and downloads them.
Her determined expression changes into disbelief and

fear as she discovers something very disturbing.
69 INT. OFFICE OBSERVATORY - MOMENTS LATER
The droid guards finally blast through the doors and

charge into the office, followed by First Order
STORMTROOPERS and OFFICER # 3, but Rey is gone.
70 EXT. OUTSKIRTS OF DESTRA CAPITAL FACTORY - LATER
Rey heads toward The Falcon, troubled by what she

discovered.
She senses trouble. She turns and finds a squad of

Stormtroopers led by First Order OFFICER # 4, as well
as Zeg Targa.
TARGA
(pointing to Rey)
That's the one who tricked me on
Zolis Station!
OFFICER #4
Officially this planet is not a
part of the First Order--yet.

OFFICER #4 (CONT’D)
But we can still keep rebel scum
like you from snooping around!
Kill her!
Rey ignites her saber and deflects blaster shots.
Two Stormtroopers extend stun staffs and engage Rey.

One of them is blown away by a powerful blast from
Chewie's crossbow.
Chewie roars and fires on the rest of the troopers.

Finn hugs a corner behind a large piece of metal junk
and fires on them as well.
OFFICER #4 (CONT’D)
Send in reinforcements!
Finn takes out the officer.
Targa hides behind junk.
71 INT. FALCON GALLEY - CONTINUOUS
Jerik and the other children eat rations, look around,

play with tools, touch buttons on the control panels,
and play the alien chess game.
R2 projects a hologram of a large moving rancor, which

both frightens and entertains some of them.
We hear BLASTER SHOTS in the distance. Jerik looks

toward the direction of the Falcon cockpit.
72 INT. FALCON COCKPIT - MOMENTS LATER
Jerik enters and looks out the windows. He sees Rey,

Finn, and Chewie fighting off the Stormtroopers.

73 EXT. OUTSKIRTS OF DESTRA CAPITAL FACTORY - CONTINUOUS
Rey slashes through the trooper with the stun staff.

She deflects blasts from the other troopers.
Chewie is picking them off with skill but more troopers

are filing in.
Finn is surprised by two troopers behind him. He takes

one out but the other one shoots him in the shoulder.
He falls to the ground, clutching his wound.
REY
Finn!
Chewie takes out the trooper who shot Finn.
Finn crawls over and hides behind metal junk, his

blaster ready.
Rey continues slashing the troopers, but they are

becoming vastly outnumbered.
Two TIE fighters swoop down from the sky and hover
above the fight. They shine lights on the rebels.
Rey looks up to them with fear. Chewie roars at them.
FINN
Run!
Rey senses something terrible and looks over to Jerik,

who is simply standing in the middle of the lighted
area, looking up at the fighters.
REY
Jerik!
Jerik reaches both hands out toward the TIE fighters.

One of them suddenly careens sideways into the other
and they both explode.
50.
Fire and debris fall to the ground. Rey dodges being

hit, and falls to the ground, retracting her lightsaber
blade. Chewie hides behind the junk with Finn.
The debris takes out a few of the Stormtroopers, but

not all of them. One of them aims his blaster at Jerik.
As Rey looks to Jerik and climbs to her feet, Jerik is

shot in the chest with a laser blast.
Jerik falls backward onto the ground.
REY (CONT’D)
NO!
More Stormtroopers swarm in.
Rey, enraged, ignites her saber and swings wildly on

the remaining troopers.
She slashes through two of them, grabs another with The

Force and immediately snaps his neck, grabs another and
sends him flying into a piece of junk, slashes through
three more, and suddenly extends her hand and shoots
lightening from her fingertips, roaring with rage,
killing the rest of them.
She uses The Force to remove a large piece of junk,

revealing the cowardly Zeg Targa who was hiding behind
it. She charges up to him with her lightsaber.
TARGA
I surrender! I surrender! NO!
Rey raises her saber, about to strike, and Targa

cowers. She stops and thinks about what she's doing...
TARGA (CONT’D)
Please... Please don't kill
me...
Rey retracts her saber blade. She stands there for a

moment, dizzy, the world spinning around her.
51.
SNOKE
(V.O., faint)
Yes... Fulfill your destiny...
LUKE
(V.O., faint)
Rey, don't give in to hate...
FINN
(O.S.)
Rey!
Rey snaps out of it. Finn is standing in front of her,

panicking.
FINN (CONT’D)
Are you okay?!
Poe's X-wing flies over their heads and then lands near
them. RESISTANCE SOLDIERS file in. Targa is apprehended
and taken away.
Rey looks for Jerik. Chewie is carrying him over to a

RESISTANCE MEDIC TEAM.
As Poe climbs out of his X-wing and walks toward them,

a squadron of Resistance bombers swoops down over the
main factory complex and drops a huge payload of bombs.
The entire factory complex erupts in a huge explosion.
REY
The children... The children!
Rey starts toward the explosion and Finn stops her as

he pleads with her. Poe runs over and helps Finn.
FINN
No, no, no, Rey, it's okay! The
Resistance got them out. Look...
Finn points toward a large group of slave children

being led to a Resistance transport ship.
52.
They are followed by a smaller group of Supervisors,

including Grav, Traklo, and the others previously seen,
with their hands on their heads, led and surrounded by
Resistance soldiers.
POE
It's okay. We scanned for all
life forms. We got 'em all out
of there...
Rey calms down and looks to her friends.
FINN
(to Rey)
Are you okay?
POE
This was the most uncoordinated
mission I've ever seen, but we
got the job done. Did Luke have
this planned all along?
Poe looks to Rey and Finn, who return looks of

confusion.
74 EXT. OUTSKIRTS OF DESTRA CAPITAL FACTORY - LATER
Rey watches as the medics attend to Jerik. He lies on a

stretcher, tubes and wires hooked into him. Finn sits
in the background, having his shoulder wound treated by
a medic. He looks to Rey and Jerik with concern.
MEDICAL OFFICER
(to Rey)
It was close there for a minute,
but he'll be all right... The
blast just barely missed his
heart.
Rey looks to Jerik as they carry him away. He smiles at

her and waves.

Rey waves back. She looks to Chewie, who is leading the

other slave children who were on the Falcon to the
transport as well.
REY
(to Medical Officer)
What will happen to the
children?
MEDICAL OFFICER
We'll take them back to the base
with us, see if we can find out
where their families are, get
them to new homes if necessary.
Don't worry, we handle refugees
all the time.
75 EXT. RESISTANCE BASE, GALT - LATER
Galt is a desolate world of purple rock, desert, and

jagged mountains. The Resistance ships, including Poe's
X-wing and the bombers approach the new Resistance
base, located deep within a great mountain.
76 INT. HANGAR, RESISTANCE BASE - CONTINUOUS
The great door/shield to the base closes as the ships

land.
The large group of slave children unload from the

transport ship, led by the Resistance officers.
Leia watches them, accompanied by C-3PO, and sees them

carry Jerik out on a stretcher, still hooked up with
tubes and wires.
Leia walks over to greet Jerik.

JERIK
(weakly)
Are you General Leia?
LEIA
I am...
JERIK
Rey saved us, but there's more
of us back on the planet... I
want to be a Jedi just like her
and fight for the Resistance.
LEIA
Well, first you need to rest and
get better. That's an order,
young man.
JERIK
Yes, ma'am.
The medics carry Jerik away.
Poe approaches Leia. She can sense his consternation.
LEIA
Something went wrong?
POE
No, it was a success, it's
just...
LEIA
Rey... She has the plans...
POE
General, are you sure we're
doing the right thing?

77 INT. MAIN CHAMBER, JEDI TEMPLE - DAY
Rey enters and finds Luke sitting in the center of the

chamber, his eyes closed.
REY
You were right... I wasn't
ready... I failed to resist the
Dark Side... I don't know who I
am anymore.
LUKE
Your training is complete.
Luke opens his eyes and looks to her.
LUKE (CONT’D)
Rey, you were tempted by the
Dark Side, you gave in for a
moment, but then you resisted.
You came back to the light...
You passed the final test... You
are a Jedi.
Rey takes this in for a moment, struggling to accept

it.
REY
But I feel so much hate
inside...
LUKE
You may feel it but you control
it, it does not control you...
That's what makes you a true
Jedi.
78 INT. KYLO REN'S CHAMBERS, SUPREMACY - CONTINUOUS
Kylo Ren sits, looking to the burnt, dilapidated helmet

of Darth Vader.

A hologram of ADMIRAL ZETRA, a female commander,

appears.
KYLO REN
I told you I didn't want to be
disturbed.
ZETRA
My Lord, we have received
tracking information for the
rebels... They are on the planet
Galt.
KYLO REN
Then set a course.
ZETRA
Yes, my Lord.
Zetra disappears.
KYLO REN
(to Vader's helmet)
The Princess must think I'm a
fool... Did she think that you
were a fool, Grandfather? You
were so immersed in the Dark
Side... You couldn't even sense
that she was your daughter. And
then you turned. For what?
Family? The great, powerful
Darth Vader... You were weak.
Ren reaches toward the helmet and shatters it with The

Force.
79 EXT. ISLAND CLIFF, AHCH-TO - DUSK
Rey stands with Luke as he looks out at the setting of

the twin suns.

I don't know if Leia will listen
to me... If you could just come
with us...
LUKE
I can't.
REY
Master Luke, I know that you
want to keep Snoke at bay, limit
his powers. But is it really
worth being trapped here? Maybe
that's what Snoke wants. To keep
you here. Locked in a
stalemate...
Luke bows his head.
LUKE
I'm sorry...
Rey looks away in frustration. Her eyes tear up.
REY
How many children like Jerik are
looking to the stars, wishing
the Jedi would find them and
help them? How many slave
children are dreaming that the
Jedi will come and free them
someday?
Rey waits a moment for him to say something, and then

leaves.
80 EXT. ISLAND, AHCH-TO - DUSK
The Falcon takes off into space.

Luke watches them leave.
Luke enters, crushed inside.
YODA
Still always looking to the
horizon are you.
LUKE

leave, Snoke--
YODA
Snoke's power grows. Yes. But

Force, as will I. Afraid are
you, young Skywalker?
LUKE
You keep asking me that...
YODA

LUKE

again. I'm afraid of giving more
power to the Dark Side, as a
result of my own weakness...

Luke looks to Yoda, searching his feelings, and then

becoming resolute.
83 EXT. ISLAND CLIFF - NIGHT
Luke stands on the cliff and outstretches his hand.
His old X-wing rises out of the water and hovers to the
cliff.
84 INT. RESISTANCE CONTROL ROOM, GALT - CONTINUOUS
Leia stands at the main control console, surrounded by

officers, including Ackbar, Statura, and C-3PO.
Rey enters and approaches the General.
LEIA
(sensing Rey)

General, our probes report that
the First Order fleet is on its
way here. They've somehow
tracked us again.

Assemble all squad commanders.
85 INT. RESISTANCE CONTROL ROOM - MOMENTS LATER
All squad commanders are assembled around General Leia,

including Ackbar, Statura, and Poe. Rey, Finn, Chewie,
C-3PO, R2D2, and BB-8 are there as well.
LEIA
The First Order fleet is on its
way here, and it's time that I
come clean with all of you. I am
the one who has been leaking our
location to the First Order
fleet.

The group reacts in shock and disbelief. Poe bows his

head, for he has known for a while.
LEIA (CONT’D)
I did this as a strategic
maneuver and I did not disclose
this to many of you, because I
could not risk Snoke finding
out. I am sorry, but it was
necessary. Hidden within this
station is a secret weapon--
REY
That will destroy all life
within this solar system,
leaving the ships and technology
intact. It's a genocide bomb!
A fervor of incredulity grows among the group but Leia

cuts it off.
LEIA
There is no life in this entire
solar system, besides us. I made
sure of that... This is the only
way to defeat the First Order
and save the galaxy.
LUKE
(O.S.)
It's not the only way.
The room falls dead silent. Luke enters and approaches

Leia in the center. His hood is up and his lightsaber
is at his side.
Everyone watches in awe as the Jedi Master walks among

them. Rey, Finn, Poe, and Chewie look to each other
with disbelief and hope.
R2 dances. BB-8 whirs.

C-3PO
Master Luke...
LEIA
Luke... Why do you come now?
After Starkiller? After Han?
Where have you been?
LUKE
I'm sorry, Leia.
They embrace.
LUKE (CONT’D)
I'm sorry.
(turning to the group)
I hid myself at the first Jedi
temple, to utilize its power and
keep Snoke's power at bay. But I
can hide no longer... As of
right now, Snoke knows
everything. He knows that the
fleet is flying into a trap. He
knows about the bomb. He knows
that I've returned.
(to the cieling)
He's watching us right now.
The group despairs, everyone looking to each other in

fear.
POE
(to Luke)
Can you give us any hope?
Luke looks to Leia, searchingly. She understands her

brother, and smiles.
LEIA
(to the group)
We will not use the bomb...
(MORE)
63.
LEIA (CONT’D)
We will destroy it, along with
the plans, and fight them head
on, like we've always done.
BLUE LEADER
Do we stand any chance?
REY
There is always a chance... If
we don't give up and we stick
together.
A LOUD, PIERCING RINGING sound fills the room. Everyone

except Luke and Leia clutch their heads in anguish.
SNOKE
(V.O., heard by all)
Skywalker was a fool to leave
his temple... Now my power is
greater than any Sith or Jedi
that has ever lived.... Since
you are too afraid to use your
great weapon, then I shall use
it for you...
The ringing continues.
CUT TO:
86 INT. SECRET ROOM, RESISTANCE BASE - CONTINUOUS
The Genocide Bomb activates and starts a countdown.
CUT TO:
87 INT. RESISTANCE CONTROL ROOM - CONTINUOUS
The group is in agony from the ringing.

64.
Luke grabs Leia's hand. He looks to her and she

understands.
They both close their eyes and concentrate.
CUT TO:
Snoke is thrown off his throne by The Force. He lands

on the floor, in pain and disbelief.
89 INT. RESISTANCE CONTROL ROOM - CONTINUOUS
The ringing has stopped. The group compose themselves.

Luke and Leia open their eyes, and take a moment to
recover.
Leia pulls a control pad from her side and looks at it.
LEIA
(to Luke)
He's activated the bomb and I
can't stop it. We need to
evacuate within one hour.
90 INT. HANGAR, RESISTANCE BASE - MOMENTS LATER
The Resistance forces frantically load their starships,

transports, and starfighters.
Poe is surrounded by the starfighter squad commanders

as he briefs them.
POE
The First Order will try to cut
off our escape, but they know
they have to evacuate by the
same time we do.
(MORE)
65.
POE (CONT’D)
We protect our ships and keep
them fighting for as long as we
can. Understood? All right,
let's do this!
The group disperses.
Poe and BB-8 jump into their X-wing.
POE (CONT’D)
All right, buddy, let's get to
work.
91 EXT. RESISTANCE BASE - MOMENTS LATER
The Resistance fighters take off, led by Poe's X-wing

and the Millennium Falcon. They are followed by various
starships and transports.
Rey and Chewie pilot the Falcon.
REY
(into control panel)
Finn, you ready down there?
93 INT. FALCON GUN TURRET - CONTINUOUS
Finn mans the laser gun.
FINN
I don't think I'll ever be
ready. But let's do this anyway.
66.
Leia watches as the fleet launches into space. Luke

approaches her.
LEIA
Are you sure about this?
LUKE
Hmm, about as sure as I was
about the Death Star...
They laugh.
LEIA
Then I'm with you.
Poe looks out his forward window at empty space,

confused.
POE
I don't understand. Our sensors
detected a massive fleet just a
moment ago.
Rey and Chewbacca look around at the empty starfield,

also confused.
Rey closes her eyes and uses The Force.
REY
It's a trick!
67.
Laser beams erupt out of nowhere and attack the

Resistance fleet. They start taking heavy damage.
POE
Evade! Evade!
The Resistance ships break off and try to avoid the

laser blasts.
The bridge crew scrambles around in panic, including C-

3PO.
ACKBAR
They must have some kind of
cloaking device! Evade and fire
back at the source of those
lasers!
Kylo Ren watches as the Resistance ships are bombarded

and fly around in confusion.
Luke and Leia hold hands and close their eyes.

68.
Kylo Ren turns toward the planet below, sensing

something.
Snoke sits on the throne, clutching his head in intense

concentration. His eyes open and he slowly looks up in
shock and disbelief.
Luke and Leia stand before him, holding hands. They

reach out.
Snoke is frozen by The Force.
Luke and Leia stand with their hands held, reaching

their other hands forward, as their apparitions did in
the throne room.
The First Order fleet appears. The enemy ships are

circled around the Resistance fleet, forming a
perimeter. Some Resistance ships are already badly
damaged and breaking apart.
POE
There they are! Do you see
them?!
REY
Yes, I see them!
69.
108 INT. COCKPIT, BLUE LEADER - CONTINUOUS
BLUE LEADER
Copy that, I see them!
109 INT. COCKPIT, RED 6 - CONTINUOUS
RED 6
Affirmative.
ADMIRAL ACKBAR
They have formed a perimeter
around us.
POE
What are they up to?
An enormous energy bubble forms, emitted by the

perimeter of First Order ships, similar to the energy
shield on Zolis Station.
The entire Resistance fleet is trapped inside the

energy bubble.
113 INT. COCKPIT, BLUE LEADER - CONTINUOUS
BLUE LEADER
Are you seeing this?
70.
114 INT. COCKPIT, RED LEADER - CONTINUOUS
RED LEADER
What is that?
ACKBAR
They've formed a shield around
us!
POE
They're trying to keep us here
until the bomb goes off! We've
got to disable that shield!
As the First Order and Resistance battle cruisers fire

on each other, swarms of TIE fighters are released from
the Star Destroyers and zero in on the Resistance
fighters.
POE
Here they come!
The Resistance fighters engage the TIE fighters.
The Millennium Falcon zooms in and starts taking out

TIE fighters as well.
71.
Finn lets the laser cannon rip on the fighters.
In the melee of the dogfight, TIE fighters are taken

out, but the Resistance is overwhelmed and starts
losing more fighters.
122 INT. RED 6 - CONTINUOUS
RED 6
My shields are out!
POE
Look out!
Red 6 is destroyed.
Poe's X-wing zeroes in on the TIE fighter that

destroyed Red 6 and takes it down.
R2D2, plugged into the Falcon's computer, beeps and

whirs.
REY
R2, are you sure?
R2 beeps an affirmative.
72.
REY (CONT’D)
(into the control panel)
All craft, this is the Falcon.
We must concentrate all fire on
the Super Star Destroyer. If we
take it out, the energy shield
will break.
ACKBAR
Acknowledged. All craft, divert
your attack to the Super Star
Destroyer! We only have fourteen
minutes until that bomb
detonates!
Luke and Leia, holding hands, hold Snoke frozen.
Snoke roars with rage and extends both hands toward

them.
Luke and Leia are knocked backward.
Luke and Leia fall on their backs, no longer holding

hands. Their eyes open.
They help each other to their feet, catching their

breaths.
LUKE
He's too powerful... It's a
stalemate...
73.
LEIA
(probingly)
But there's another way...
Something you're afraid to do...
LUKE
(hesitantly)
Both temples amplify The Force
throughout the galaxy. There can
be no dark without the light,
and no light without the dark...
LEIA
Destroy one temple and the other
will become powerless...
Luke and Leia sense something and look to the ghostly

apparition of Yoda, looking to them quietly. Luke
approaches his master.
LUKE
But if we destroy the Jedi
temple, the ability to use The
Force will diminish everywhere.
YODA
Diminish but not be destroyed...
Truly balanced would be The
Force, so that no one on either
side could become too
powerful...
Luke takes a moment to accept the truth.
LUKE
This is my destiny... It was
right in front of me all this
time... But I was too afraid...
YODA
The greatest power is the power
to let go...
74.
Luke looks to Leia. She smiles and takes his hand.
LEIA
It's time. We both need to let
go.
Luke and Leia close their eyes and concentrate.
129 EXT. STONE HUT VILLAGE, AHCH-TO - NIGHT
The Caretakers sit around campfires, eat dinner, and

converse in their alien tongue.
All at once, they fall silent and look up to the

starfield above them.
Each one of them stands up and grabs a thick, fiery

stick from the campfires.
130 EXT. JEDI TEMPLE - MOMENTS LATER
The Caretakers walk to the temple with their torches.
They light the tree temple on fire.
They watch as it erupts in glorious flames.
Snoke's eyes open in disbelief and horror.
SNOKE
(roaring)
NO!
75.
Rey senses that The Force has diminished, distracted

from piloting for a moment as the battle rages on.
Luke opens his eyes.
Yoda disappears.
Luke and Leia embrace.
KYLO REN
(O.S.)
That was foolish.
Luke and Leia turn to find Ren standing at the hangar

entrance.
KYLO REN (CONT’D)

You may have diminished the
power of The Force throughout
the galaxy, but there will be no
balance. The Dark Side will
always be stronger.
Ren ignites his saber.
LEIA
Ben...
KYLO REN
That name no longer has any
meaning to me.
Ren charges Luke. Luke ignites his saber and their

blades lock.
LUKE
Don't make me do this, Ben.
76.
The battle rages on. The Resistance ships sustain heavy

damage as they focus all of their attack on the Super
Star Destroyer. There are several Resistance cruisers
exploding and breaking apart, surrounded by debris from
other destroyed ships.
Another Resistance cruiser explodes.
ACKBAR
We can't sustain this much
longer! We've got to take out
that Super Star Destroyer!
POE
All craft, give her all you got!
Don't give up!
Poe's X-wing leads the fighter attack on the Super Star

Destroyer, taking out the gun turrets.
The Falcon swoops in and assists the fighters.
REY
Red Seven, you've got two on
your tail!
77.
The Falcon zeroes in on the two TIE fighters on Red 7's

tail.
Finn takes out the two TIE fighters.
FINN
Go 'em!
Poe takes out the final gun turret on the Super Star
Destroyer.
POE
Okay, Blue Squadron, do your
thing!
The Resistance bombers zoom toward the Supremacy.
Admiral Zetra watches the bombers approach.
ZETRA
All craft! Focus all your
firepower on those bombers!
78.
The rest of the Star Destroyers in the perimeter focus

their attack on the Resistance bombers. They are
gradually picked off.
POE
Evade! Evade!
All of the Resistance bombers are destroyed.
ACKBAR
We only have six minutes before
that bomb detonates!
Poe struggles to think of a plan and resist despair.
POE
BB-8, buddy, I've got a very bad
feeling about this but I got to
do it...
Poe circles back to the Supremacy. BB-8 whirs

nervously.
POE (CONT’D)
I'm sorry, buddy, but I don't
need you for this one.
79.
Poe hits a button and BB-8 ejects into space. Poe hits
another button and his X-wing zooms forward.
Poe's X-wing flies into overdrive toward the Supremacy,

leaving BB-8 behind.
Poe flies toward one of its hangar bays, fires on the

shield generator and takes out the shield. Ships,
cargo, and personnel inside the hangar fly into space.
151 INT. HANGAR, SUPREMACY - CONTINUOUS
The X-wing flies through the hangar and noses down into
a large elevator shaft, descending into the ship's
belly.
POE
I got to be crazy!
153 INT. SUPREMACY INNER SECTION - CONTINUOUS
The X-wing makes a sharp turn out of the elevator shaft

and into a narrow tunnel, which leads into the main
power core of the ship.
154 INT. POWER CORE, SUPREMACY - CONTINUOUS
Poe fires blasters on the power core, but the energy

shield around them is too strong.
80.
He fires two torpedoes into the reactor core. It

catches fire and starts to break apart, but is not
destroyed.
Poe taps the trigger buttons for the torpedoes several

times but there's no response.
POE
(to himself)
Used all your torpedoes, Poe,
good job...
Rey and Chewie listen to Poe with concern.
POE
(V.O.)
This is Gold Leader. Well,
folks, I've had a pretty good
streak--I think I'll quit while
I'm ahead.
REY
Poe, don't do this! We'll find
another way... I can reach you
there in the Falcon. Chewie, set
course.
POE
(V.O.)
There's no time...
81.
FINN
Poe, listen to Rey! Don't do
this!
Poe takes off his helmet. His eyes are welling up with
tears.
FINN
(V.O.)
We'll find another way! Poe!
Poe?!
POE
Just don't ever give up...
Poe switches off his comlink.
POE (CONT’D)
Keep fighting.
159 INT. POWER CORE, SUPREMACY - CONTINUOUS
Poe's X-wing crashes into the core and an enormous

explosion erupts.
BB-8 watches the Super Star Destroyer start to explode

and break apart. He lowers his head in sadness.
As the Supremacy disintegrates in a brilliant

explosion, the energy field dissipates and the
Resistance ships are free.
82.
Rey tears up. Chewie moans. R2 whirs.
REY
Poe...
Finn watches the explosion and then looks away.
The bridge crew watch the explosion in silence.
ACKBAR
(solemn)
All ships prepare to make the
jump to hyperspace.
Luke and Ren engage in intense saber combat.
Luke's technique is more refined and polished, but he

is sweating and losing energy.
KYLO REN
Look at you. You've become so
weak.
Ren takes a swing and Luke dodges it, nicking Ren in

the shoulder. Ren grunts in pain.
LUKE
And you never mastered the art
of concentration.
83.
KYLO REN
Perhaps you're right... Shall we
test our true powers?
Ren reaches out toward his mother. She starts choking

and clutches her throat.
LEIA
(gasping)
Ben...
LUKE
Let her go!
Luke reaches out toward Ren, but the choke hold

continues.
Leia falls to the floor, choking and gasping.
Luke closes his eyes, takes a deep breath, and

concentrates. Leia closes her eyes as well.
Ren is pushed back with The Force and lands on his

back.
Luke charges Ren with his saber. Ren rises to his feet.
Their blades lock.
The sabers crack and sizzle as Luke and Ren push their
blades with all their might.
Still on the floor, catching her breath, Leia takes out

the control pad for the bomb. There are still two
minutes left.
Still in the saber lock, Luke turns and looks to Leia.

They exchange looks of deep affection and sorrow. Leia
smiles, letting him know that it's okay.
Ren turns his head toward Leia.
Luke closes his eyes.

84.
Leia closes hers. She presses a button on the control

pad.
BEN SOLO
Mother... No...
The bomb detonates. The planet of Galt, the few

remaining ships in orbit (damaged ships on both sides
who couldn't jump to lightspeed), and the entire star
system are engulfed by an enormous shockwave. The
shockwave leaves the planet and ships intact,
destroying all life within.
From a far off point outside the solar system, Rey and
Chewie watch as the shockwave spreads.
Chewie moans.
REY
Luke... Leia... They're gone.
167 INT. FALCON GALLEY - CONTINUOUS
BB-8 sits still in the center of the galley, his head

lowered. R2 rolls up to him and whirs sympathetically
at his friend. BB-8 returns the sympathy.
Ackbar and the bridge crew watch the shockwave in

silence. C-3PO bows his head.
85.
Finn watches the shockwave as well.
ACKBAR
(V.O.)
All ships rendezvous at the
transmitted coordinates.
The Resistance fleet snaps into hyperspace.
171 INT. FALCON GALLEY - LATER
Rey sits alone in the galley, sinking into sadness.
R2 rolls over to her and whirs sadly. She pats him on

his dome.
REY
I know... I miss them too.
R2 beeps and boops something cheerful.
REY (CONT’D)
A message?
R2 emits a recorded hologram of Luke.
LUKE
(V.O., hologram)
Rey, if you're watching this
message, then I have passed on
to the other side... You once
told me that you were nobody,
but nothing could be farther
from the truth... You are strong
with The Force, and you have a
special courage.
(MORE)

LUKE (CONT’D)
In time, you will discover your
own true destiny...
Luke's hologram changes to a massive starchart with

numerous glowing points throughout at specific planets.
LUKE (CONT’D)
(V.O.)
The points on this starchart
signify planets where I have
identified potential Force
users. Seek them out. Pass on
what you have learned. Usher in
a new generation of Jedi. And
remember that I will always be
with you, as will The Force...
Wide shot of Rey, the last Jedi, standing in the center

of a massive and beautiful starchart.
DISSOLVE TO:
172 EXT. HOUSE, PLANET ULDUUN - NIGHT
Wide shot of a beautiful, vast starfield.
Jerik sits alone in a grassy field, looking up at the

stars, dreaming of adventure. In the background is a
modest house with the lights on.
GUARDIAN MOTHER
(O.S.)
Jerik, supper's ready!
Jerik looks to the house and then back to the stars. He

stands and starts walking toward the house. He stops,
sensing something.
He turns and finds a dark cloaked and hooded figure

walking toward him out of the darkness. When the figure
comes into light, we see that it is Rey.

Jerik smiles and runs toward her.
Wide shot of Jerik running toward the Jedi and

embracing her.

8 THE ENTIRE RESISTANCE FLEET IS BURNING AND BREAKING APART IN
