What steps must be taken to ensure climate protection? What will the energy
mix of the future look like? Questions such as these dominate political debate
around the globe. In view of rising energy prices and the challenges posed by
climate change, the topic of renewable energies has now become one of the
most important themes on the political stage. Renewable energies will play a
significant role in the energy mix of the future.
The initiative is carried out under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Eco-
nomics and Technology in cooperation with various partner organizations,
such as the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad, Germany Trade and Invest,
Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena) – the German Energy Agency, the
Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit GmbH (German Techni-
cal Cooperation or GTZ) as well as relevant industry associations. dena is
responsible for national and international public relations.
Are you looking for first-hand information about German renewable energy
technology and face-to-face contact with experienced German companies in
the renewables industry? If so, the German-Bilateral Chamber of Commerce
(AHK) in your country may be able to help. As part of the “renewables - Made in
Germany” program, visits of German business representatives are organised
to all parts of the world. They showcase their expertise and products and pres-
ent possibilities for cooperation.

dena solar roofs worldwide serve as flagship projects for German renewable
energy expertise in the field of photovoltaics, solar cooling and solar thermal
energy. From Australia to the USA, all of the plants designed and implemented
under this programme demonstrate the flexibility of German renewable
energy technology and know-how, working with given local circumstances
while meeting discerning user-specific requirements.
All of the solar roofs projects developed by dena are designed as public private
partnerships (PPP) and co-financed by the German Federal Ministry of Economics
and Technology. Since 2004, 30 projects have been realised, for example, in
Australia, China, Russia, Costa Rica, India, South Africa, Indonesia, Turkey,
Palestine and Taiwan.

The “Project-Development-Program”
(PDP) implemented by the German
Technical Cooperation (GTZ) supports
the promotion of renewable energy
technologies as a feasible alternative to conventional power generation. By
facilitating business partnerships and the exchange of experience and know-
how between German renewable energy companies and those in developing
countries, the PDP forms a vital basis for sustainable market development.

These fact-finding missions are specifically aimed at people who make and
influence decisions - including government policymakers, administrative
authorities and opinion leaders - enabling them to gather first-hand informa-
tion on German renewable energy technologies. These missions focus
primarily on the on-site viewing of applied examples – the purpose here is to
promote the transfer of knowledge, especially with regard to solutions and
technologies. This knowledge can be of tremendous value particularly when
policy decisions regarding the use of energy-related technologies need to be
made or tenders for services need to be issued in the near future. Aside from your
own travel expenses, participation is free of charge.
