Take 50 cc of N/35.5 NaCl in a titration flask, and then add 5 drops of
potassium chromate indicator then it is titrated against standardized Silver Nitrate
solution to a brick red end point. The volume of AgNO3 used is noted & again repeat this
experiment at least thrice.

drops of alkalinity reagent ‘B’.
 If the pink color does not appear again add a pinch of sulphite reagent ‘A’.
 Then shake the jar 30sec & add sulphite reagent ‘B’ drop by drop, count the number of drops added.
 Shake the jar after each drop till blue end point is observed.

 IS : 3803 Part 1 Steel - Conversions of elongation values (Austentic steels).
 IS : 12872 : 1990 Metallic materials : Verification of extensometer used in an axial testing.
PRINCIPLE:
 This test starts by applying tensile force to a test piece, generally to fracture, for the purpose of
determining one or more mechanical properties of the test piece.

 Extensometer.
 Digital measuring gauge.
 Punch for marking.

TEST PROCEDURE:
 Take a sample of specified heat no, having length minimum 600mm.
 Calculate the cross sectional area from the measurement from the appropriate dimension.
 Mark the original gauge length (Lo) from the following formula: Lo = 5.65 sqrt of (c/s area).
 The original gauge length should not be less than 25mm.
 Mark the grip length on both ends of the specimen of minimum 150mm.
 Fix the specimen between the grip plates both in top & bottom by suitable means such as pin holder &
