Job description of CSSD

AN-NUAIRYIAH GENERAL HOSPITAL JOB TITLE :CSSD TECHNICIAN

REPORTS TO : HEAD OF CSSD

BASIC FUNCTIONS:
To provide professional, competent and safe reusable instruments and equipment to
patients within NGH

1. DUTIES AND RESPOSIBILITIES:

2. Responsible for the collection of used and contaminated instruments from

operating rooms, delivery rooms, and other departments
3. Cleans soiled instruments through the use of special cleaning agents, such
as enzymatic and alkaline detergents which helps to maintain the integrity
of metals
4. Sorts, assembles, and disassembles reusable instruments and prepares
these items for proper methods of decontamination
5. Disinfects instruments and clinical equipment, practices proper disposal of
waste, linen, and biohazard materials, while maintaining safety standards
6. Operates an ultrasonic and washer disinfector equipment
7. Demonstrates the proper use of personal protective equipment
8. Prepares instruments through assembling, protecting, wrapping, and
containerize of peel packages
9. Checks and inspects the cleanliness and functionality of instruments
10. Inspects, lubricates instruments, assembles and wraps instruments prior
to sterilization process
11. Distributes, retrieves, disburses, and tracks medical / surgical supplies and
equipment
12. Orders, receives, stocks and monitors the usage of surgical supplies and
inventory
13. Knowledge of high temperature and low temperature sterilization
14. Knowledge of infection control and prevention.

Job description of CSSD

15. Complies with work rules, regulations, and instructions, follows established
systems and procedures, completes assignments with minimal supervision.
16. Participates actively in the growth and development of CSSD personnel through
monthly staff meetings, daily reports, and staff development meetings.
17. Adhere with policies and procedure of MOH and the infection control mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: STERILIZATION DIPLOMA or equivalent

Registration: Registered STERILIZATION technician or with current Saudi Health Council
license or approved equivalent.
Certification: CBSPD OR CRCST certification SCFHS
Other skills:
 English language skills. Proficient in spoken, written and
comprehension; Arabic language skills : beneficial
 Computer skills: intermediate

Experience
One (1) year experience required or equivalent
