How to Erase (Blank) FX27/727

Why Erase FX27 / 727

FX27 /727 is a memory board. It has a battery back-up and holds ALL parameters and
machine data. If control locks-up or starts acting differently than what it is supposed to,
the data in this board might be scrambled. Power surge or lightning strike can cause the
same problem also. In this situation, FX27 /727 needs to be blanked.

Erasing (Blanking) FX27 / 727

Following are 4 methods one can use depending upon the circumstances.

Method 1 (For Non-Mazak: For example OKK, MHI etc.)

1. Turn ON control
2. Press DIAG then NEXT 4 times

3. Enter (1000) ( 1 ) (M2), INPUT twice
4. Press GRAF, Enter CPU(L) INPUT
5. Power OFF/ON
6. Confirm 0’s in parameter values
7. Input parameters
8. Power OFF/ON

Method 2 (Mazatrol: T2, T3 with sys s/w Ver B4 or higher. It will not be effective for
earlier versions)

1. With control power OFF, flip dip SW 3 over on FX01/701

2. Power ON for about 30 seconds
3. Power OFF, flip dip SW 3 back to original position
4. Power ON
5. Confirm 0’s in parameter values
6. Reload parameters. Hand type if needed.
7. Power OFF/ON
Method 3 (Mazatrol, T2, T3 )

1. With power OFF, take FX27/727 out of the control.

2. Remove battery jumpers (2 jumpers next to the battery).
3. Put a low resistance resistor across the super capacitor to discharge it. Make sure it is
drained completely.
4. Put battery jumpers back on the board. Put board back in the control.
5. Power ON and confirm 0’s in parameter values
6. Input parameters
7. Power OFF/ON

Note: a. This procedure will not put 0’s in parameter fields instead there will be “ * ”
and scrambled values.
b. Using this procedure on M1 control can simulate a locked operation panel/
Control. Hold ATC button, move through parameters screen and enter a few
parameters. Power Off/On. Enter the rest of the parameters. Format memory
using the –9999 or 7777 procedure. If everything fails, use Method 4.

Method 4 (Offline method, use when all of above fail)

1. With control power OFF, connect the PC cable to the RS232 slot on FX01/701 SCN

2. Flip over dip SW 8 on the FX01/701
3. Start communication program (preferably ProComm plus) on the PC
4. Set communication parameters on PC as follows:
(for ProComm: Press ALT P, change as following, and save before proceeding)

Baud Rate: 4800

Parity: None
Data Bits: 8
Stop Bit: 1
Port: Direct connection

5. Power ON the control. There should be a message display on the PC screen:

“MELDAS MONITOR V3.0”
6. Type in capital letters FC000:0,FFFF,00 and then hit ENTER
7. FX27/727 is now blank.
8. Flip dip SW 8 back to its original position.
9. Power OFF/ON the control.
10. Confirm 0’s in parameters and reload the parameters.
