Set Induction 1. Pupils are asked about some of the
occupations they have learnt
Pre-reading 2. Pupils are asked to spell the
occupations they have learnt
While-reading 3. Pupils are asked to read about the
occupations of the parents of Leela and
her friends
4. Pupils are asked to explain the
meaning of what they read
Post-reading 5. Pupils complete a table in their
exercise book
6. Teacher reviews the lesson and gives
appropriate feedback

Learning Objectives By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:
- Write with guidance – (a) labels
Success criteria I will be successful if I can:
- Write the correct information from the label
Mode of Teaching & Learning Discussion / Role Play ICT / Pair Work Group Work / Project
Activities Set Induction 1. Pupils are first shown various food labels
(5 minutes) 2. Pupils are then asked which are healthy and which are not

Pre-writing / 3. The teacher will first teach about some keywords found in the labels such as expiry
Presentation date, ingredients,nutritional values and net weight using a piece of manila card
(10 minutes)
While-writing / 4. Pupils are then split into groups.
Production 5. Each group is then given a food label and a worksheet.
(10 minutes) 6. Pupils are then asked to work together to find some of the important information asked
by the teacher and write them down in the worksheet provided

Post-writing / 7. The teacher distributes another worksheet. However, this time the worksheets are
Assessment labels without the keywords.
(5 minutes) 8. Pupils are required to fill in the blanks by writing the correct keywords.
9. Teacher reviews the lesson and gives appropriate feedback.
