Economics Major Checklist Instructions and Policies

• Have your Economics advisor and the Undergraduate Economics Program Director (or Economics Chair) review your

completed Checklist and a current Advisement Report. Your signed Economics Major Checklist must be included in the

Graduation Packet that you personally turn in at the Dowling Hall Student Services Desk. (Your Graduation Packet consists

of a current, unsigned Advisement Report, a signed major checklist, and signed checklists for any second majors or minors.)

• For February 2018 Degree Candidates: Graduation Packets are due by Friday, October 20th

• For May and August 2018 Degree Candidates: Graduation Packets are due by Friday, December 1st.

• Submit your Checklist for review at least one week before the relevant deadline.

• All courses used for major requirements must have grades of C- or higher.

• No course used for major requirements may be taken Pass/Fail.

• Two preapproved transfer courses may be used to meet the elective requirements for an economics major. Students

completing two full semesters of study abroad may use a third preapproved transfer course to meet the elective requirements

for a major. Place a T on the appropriate Economics Major Checklist line to indicate an approved transfer course.

• Beginning with the Class of 2019, all economics majors are required to take at least one upper level (100+) seminar class.

Courses that satisfy the seminar requirement are listed with an ampersand (&) in the listing of course offerings posted on the

Economics Department website.

• If you have more than one major, please see the Bulletin for rules on double-counting courses.

• For Finance Minors – No more than one Economics course used as a Finance Minor elective may be double-counted as an

Economics major elective. Economics 50 may not be double-counted, but Mathematics 32 may be double counted.

• Listing your additional Economics courses in Part VI ensures that they will be included in departmental reviews for honors

and awards.

• See the Economics Department website for complete major requirements and policies.
