Angels and Demons Reaction Paper

SUMMARY

The movie starts off with a scientist named Leonardo Vetro getting killed and a piece of
antimatter was stolen from the facility. CERN’s director, Maximillian Kohler for symbolists,
Robert Langdon to investigate. Since Robert Langdon is an expert on the Illuminati and the
murderer branded Vetro with an ambrigramatic symbol for Illuminati. Robert Langdon and
the murdered scientist’s daughter, Victoria Vetro met in Switzerland. This i s where we
learned about their backstory. Leonardo was a devoutly religious man who was determined
to use physics to prove the existence of God. He was using a particle accelerator to
replicate the Big Bang. After learning all of this Robert Langdon and Vi ctoria Vetro head
off to Vatican because CERN is called informed that a security camera from there was stolen
and now it’s pointed right at the capsule at the antimatter and when the battery of the
capsule runs out at midnight it’ll blow up the Vatican. Bu t before all of these, the pope
died and now a new pope is about to be elected. The illuminati planted the capsule on the
day that where the event was about to take place. The Vatican is called and threatened by
an illuminati assassin so they reach out to Mr. Langdon despite his actions in the Di Vinci
Code. So they fly to the Vatican and meet up with the captain of the Swiss Guard
commander, police force general and the carmelengo the pope’s chamberlain. They all
debrief on the current situation because al ong with the antimatter capsule, four cardinals
have gone missing. The accept that the illuminati has come back for revenge after the
catholic church won on the illuminati purge hundreds of years ago. So Mr. Langdon listens
assassin’s message and was able to deduce these public places will be on the four altars of
science on the path of illumination. Using the clues from the document he got from the
archives, he was able to track down the cardinals later to find out that they we’re too late
to save the first three cardinals. Each cardinal were branded with the words earth, wind
and fire. So now Mr. Langdon finds the final altar, the altar of water. It’s in the fountain of
four rivers. The assassin just casually drops the lost cardinal in the water trying to drown
him but Langdon manages to save him just in time. Now all is left to discover is the church
of illumination, the base of operations of the illuminati which the assassin was confronted
at gunpoint then he leaves and dies in a car explosion. But the an timatter wasn’t there. So
Victoria and Langdon found a path that led them back to Vatican City, where they rush to
the aid of the camerlengo who was going to be attacked. 20 minutes before the antimatter
capsule blow up everything, they somehow arrive at t he conclusion that is in the tomb of
the first pope. They go down there and finally find the capsule but there isn’t enough time
to change the battery, so the camerlengo grabs it and runs away to the surface. He jumps
in the helicopter and flies up and the antimatter detonates over the Vatican while he
parachutes down to the surface. But Langdon later found out by accessing the security
tapes by the means of key given to him by Richter before he died, a camcorder that Kohler
had to record his conversation w ith the camerlengo which reveals that the camerlengo was
the mastermind of all of this. When the camerlengo realizes everyone found out about he
did, he runs away and sets himself on fire. The new pope is elected, Langdon gest access
to the Vatican archives to finish a book he’s writing. The end.

MEANING OF THE FILM

Its all about the clash between two contradictory topics which is religion and science.

REACTION

Im quite in awe of how gutsy the author to open up a case once again about conspiracy
theories such as his previous work, the Da Vinci Code, which resulted many critiques to
question a lot about their own beliefs. The plot happened in a span of just 24 hours that
keeps you wanting for more. I can’t deny that some of the part of the plot made me
question such things as “what if it actually existed” .

APPLICATION

Playing fire with fire isn’t going to resolve anything. At this age, you’ll encounter some
people like the carmelengo. At first, you might find them pleasing but in the end they’ll do
something that you wouldn’t expect them to do.
