Applications are invited to register for PhD

REVA University invites applications from eligible candidates to register for PhD programs
in the following disciplines.

1. Eligibility criteria for admission to the Ph D. programme:

Subject to the conditions stipulated in REVA University PhD Regulations, the following
persons are eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme:

a) Candidates for admission to the Ph. D programme shall have a Master's degree or a
p r o f e s s i o n a l degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding
statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade
'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale) or an equivalent
degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by the approved Assessment
and Accreditation Agency.

b) Candidates who have cleared the M. Phil course work with at least 55% marks in
aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in
a point scale) and successfully completed the M. Phil. Degree;
c) A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, is
allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) /differently-abled and
other categories of candidates;

2. Duration of the Programme:

The minimum duration for Ph D programme is THREE years, including course work.
However, extension up to SIX years period of registration beyond the above limits shall
be permitted based on the recommendation of the concerned Research Supervisor.

3. Entrance Test and Interview:


3.1. The registration for PhD is through Entrance Test (REVA PET), Interview and Counseling.
The Entrance Test will be 100 marks with 3 hours duration as under:

a) The syllabus of the Entrance Test paper for candidates other than those who have
qualified UGC-JRF/UGC-NET/ UGC-CSIR JRF/ UGC-CSIR NET / SLET /
GATE or passed in M. Phil or candidates hold teacher fellowship, will be both
on Research Methodology and the concerned subject of study (subject specific)
with 50% of weightage each. The test will be for 100 marks of 3 hours duration. The
question paper will be in TWO PARTS – Part-I: Questions on concerned subject of
study (subject specific) for 50 marks (objective & descriptive) & Part-II:
Questions on Research Methodology for 50 marks (objective & descriptive)

with 3 hours duration.

b) The syllabus of the Entrance Test for candidates who have qualified UGC-NET
(including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE or
candidates holding teacher fellowship will b e only on Research Methodology.
The question paper will be for 100 marks (20% Objective and 80% Descriptive)
with 3 hours duration.

c) The syllabus of the Entrance Test for c a n d i d a t e s who have passed M. Phil
program will b e o n l y on concerned subject of study (subject specific). The
question paper will be for 100 marks (50% Objective and 50% Descriptive) with 3
hours duration.

3.2. Candidates securing at least 50 marks out of 100 in the Entrance Test shall be
declared as eligible for interview / viva voce.
3.3. The results of the Entrance Test will be displayed on the notice board of the Research
and Innovation Council and hosted on the University website. No separate intimation /
information in any form will b e sent to the candidates about the results of entrance
examination and admission.

3.4. The eligible candidates will be invited for interview/ viva-voce on the specific date
and time. The candidates have to come prepared to discuss their research interest /
area through presentations.

3.5. Candidates invited should attend the interview-cum-counseling along w i t h following


original documents:
i) Original marks cards of prescribed qualification such as two year
PUC/10+2 examination, degree and PG degree examinations.
ii) Original certificate / proof for having qualified UGC-NET (including JRF) /
UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SLET / GATE or passed M Phil or proof of
holding teacher fellowship.
iii) Proof of date of birth, preferably SSLC/10th examination pass certificate.
iv) Three copies of latest passport size photographs.
v) No due certificate from the employer (in case employed).

3.6. The performance in the i nt ervi ew / viva v o c e will be assessed for 50 marks. The
Selection of candidates for provisional registration shall be based on the
performance in the interview o n l y provided f u r t h e r that such a selection
depends on the availability of the guide in the subject / area of interest of the
candidate.

3.7. Candidates selected s h o u l d t a k e a dm is sion a f t e r payment o f p r e s c r i b ed fee i n


full within the notified date failing which they will automatically forefeet the seat.

Those candidates who are registered for PhD should have to undergo course work of
One Semester of SIX months and follow necessary conditions in the “REVA
University Regulations Governing the Minimum Standards and Procedure for
Award of Doctoral (Ph D) Degree, 2016”.

3.8. Candidates who are not selected for a Ph.D. program have to re-apply whenever
the applications are invited again and go through the Entrance Test afresh.

Note: Foreign Nationals and NRIs with Indian degree are also required to take the P h D
Entrance Examination.

How to Apply?

Application forms are available both in Online Mode and Direct Mode.

The Application Form can also be obtained from the Office of Admissions, REVA
University.

Application Fee: Rs.1000/-. The details of tuition fee for various programs are provided Under
“admissions” in the university website www.reva.edu.in.

Steps to Apply Online

1. Register & Confirm password: Candidate should fill the correct Name and Date of Birth
as they appear in Class X marks card and it is mandatory to provide valid e-mail id.
Immediately on filling up of the information, a password will be sent to your e-mail id.
Login with the e-mail id and received password to proceed with online application
form.

2. While filling the online application form, fields marked with red are mandatory and
accurate information is solicited. Do not leave blank field unless it is not r e l e v a n t to
you.
3. Selection of Mode of Payment: Select the appropriate mode of Payment i.e., online mode.
Immediately on submission of the application form at this stage, an Application
Number will be generated. Candidates are requested to note down the Application
Number and all the future correspondence will be made on this Application Number
only.

The Payment may also be made through Demand Draft (DD) or through NEFT
(National Electronic Funds Transfer)

Candidates registered for Ph D are required to abide by “REVA University Regulations
Governing the Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of Doctoral (Ph D) Degree,
2016”.

The fee schedule for the Ph D program can be downloaded at www.reva.edu.in

Fees payable for the Ph D program of the University are subject to review periodically.
Ensuring that fees are paid before the announced due dates is the sole responsibility of the
research scholar. Non-payment of the prescribed fees within the due dates will result in
the cancellation of the registration to the Ph D program.

REVA University may withdraw or amend its offer provisional registration, or terminate
the registration, if it is found that either a false or a misleading statement has been made
or that significant information has either been omitted or withheld in a candidate's
application form.
REVA University does not accept responsibility and expressly excludes all liability that may
result from any loss, damage or injury caused to a research scholar or to the research
scholar’s property.

Candidates selected for Ph D program of the University are required to sign an


undertaking at the time of registration consenting to abide by the rules, regulations and
the code of conduct of the University.
