“Bandang Paskuhan”: Battle of the Bands

Rules and Mechanics

1. A “Performer” consists of many different things. For this event we require both instrumental
and vocal performance; a band of 8 or a solo act, any kind of band is allowed as long as they play
at least one instrument.
2. Metal, Punk, Post-Hardcore, Grunge Rock or Heavy Rock and any other music related to the
extreme kind of genre is not allowed and will be disqualified during the (qualifying rounds in
choosing final demos/auditions).
3. Too much use of profanity or swearing during the performance will deduct points during judging
period. Bands may embrace the spirit of the holidays while showing the enjoyment and fun of
performing in a band. Please keep in mind, this is a “FAMILY EVENT” and all material must be
appropriate or grounds for immediate disqualification from show as deemed by Rotaract Club
Committee / Judges Panel.
4. “Bandang Paskuhan: Battle of the Bands” finalists (13) bands must play 3 songs. Each band’s set
must fill approximately 10 minutes but must not exceed 15 minutes. For every minute exceeding
15 mins, 5 points will be deducted from their total score.
5. There is no limit to the number of bands who wish to apply for the competition and all
(submitted demos/chosen finalists). But only 13 will be chosen to perform on the final event
during Paskutitap 2017.
6. Any distasteful, and or damage to the stage and/or equipment will be penalized or disqualified
at the hands of organizers, management and judges.
7. Registration fee is non-refundable under all circumstances.
8. All competing bands are strongly encouraged to promote spreading the word regarding the
“Bandang Paskuhan: Battle of the Bands” event and all related Paskutitap 2017 activities.
9. The Rotaract Club of Iba will not be held accountable for any broken equipment, injuries, or any
other negative occurrences outside of the rotaract club’s control.
10. The winner of “Bandang Paskuhan” will be asked to play an encore after the final judgements.
Please prepare a second set to be performed in the event of winning the competition.

Criteria

Clarity of Voice and Good Rendition of Sounds accompanied by instrumentalist – 40

This criterion is based on clarity, lyrical content and overall musical performance.

Song Choice/Music – 25

Based on the kind of songs they choose to expose or present their band in connection to the
theme.

Stage Performance – 20

Performance will not look boring or too extreme (Metal and other Heavy Rock Performance).

Audience Impact – 10
 How they hook the audience with their performance. Crowd Applause.

Costume – 5

Uniform outfit in connection to the theme. Strictly no inappropriate (risqué or racy) costumes or
outfits.

Reg fee: 300 per band

Prizes: 1st Prize = 10,000php

2nd Prize = 7,000php

3rd Prize = 5,000php
