Classroom Management Plan

1. Courses you would like to teach:

In my career, I envision teaching a range of classes depending on the size of the school I am in.
Biology, anatomy, microbiology, life science, chemistry, physical science, and earth science are in the
range I would like to teach.

2. Classroom Structure

A. General Floor Plan: (Sketch or link a drawing)

3. Classroom Expectations

A. Posted Classroom rules:

1. Be on time, prepared, and on task.

2. Respect the teacher, the classroom, and each other.

3. Phones away unless I say.

4. Work until it’s time to leave.

B. How the classroom rules will be taught:

Rules will be gone over several times the first week of school and then touched upon as
need be.

C. How will you teach your routines?

All other routines will be verbally explained and then demonstrated. Students will be
expected to (try to) perform the next time they come to class and will be redirected as
necessary.

D. What will be your pre-correction reminders?

Initially, I will give a general cue – “Let’s focus now” – for those that get off task. Gentle
reminders to stay on task will be given unless students choose to continue to be disruptive,
then school procedure will be followed.

E. What will be your correction procedures?

These are for more serious situations. Normal horseplay will be dealt with within the
classroom unless it doesn’t stop.

1. Warning
2. Parent contact
3. Principal
4. Follow school disciplinary procedure

F. What will be your record keeping system?

Grades – use the system the school has in place as well as keeping a hardcopy gradebook
for backup.

Attendance – same as above

Class Roster – same as above

Materials – online or filing cabinets depending on form

Behaviors – journal with time, date, student, addressing and outcome

G. What will be your follow up procedures?

Communication with students is key. I will make sure they feel heard and that I notice when
they make an effort to go above and beyond.

After discipline, I will monitor the situation and let the student/parent/principal know that the
behavior has stopped or we still have some work to do.

4. Description of policies

A. Homework Policy
Homework is to be completed in complete sentences unless otherwise stated. It must be
turned in on time to receive full credit. Late assignments will receive partial credit. Due dates
will be to my discretion and made known to the students.

Some students will have special circumstances and will need more time according to school
policy.

B. Late-work Policy

I will accept late work up to one week after it was due. A 10% penalty will be applied to the
assignments grade for each day it is past due (1 day late: -10%; 2 days late: -20%; etc…).

Some students will have special circumstances and will need more time according to school
policy.

C. Tardy

Be on time or you will be marked tardy if you don’t have a note.

Follow school procedure.

D. Clothes & Dress

Follow the school dress code.

LAB: no open-toed shoes, no loose sleeves, long hair tied back, minimal jewelry

E. Candy & Gum

If you bring it, be prepared to share and clean up after yourself.

F. Make up Work

Follow school policy.

I will have a bin with the assignments students missed on the days they were gone.
Students will be expected to check the bin if they missed class.
