401 Setup

Menta
1. Create new program, edit Trends etc (Options Device Specification for controller type)
2. Press F12 – you can test the program
3. In the Preferences menu tick Automatic Generate of Menu Tree
4. In the Commands menu select Generate (to create xif file)
5. Press F12 – to exit test mode
6. Save and close

7. Go to the template tab and create new template for the 401 using the new xif file
8. Go back to the subsystem tab, right click on the correct LIP & channel and create a new node

a. Call it by the device name


b. Set the Channel (note the offset, Port 2 = Channel 1)
c. Make sure it’s set to the correct substation LIP & channel (note, channels start at 0)
d. Add the new template

9. Click refresh and you device should appear under the correct channel in the LNS Network.
If not, go check it is correct in NL220 and refresh again
10. In the LNS Network pane, right-click the new device, Click Set Neuron ID. Either ping the device
or type it in manually.
11. In the LNS Network pane, right-click the new device, Click Configure.

a. In the TAC Menta Project File box, browse to the application file (.mta) for the device.
b. If I/O modules are used, click Add and Match
12. Update TAC Network
13. Move the devices around into a logical order (how it will display in Workstation)
14. From the LNS Network menu, click Create Group Bindings. (this will add TAG D & 1 MSG TAGs)
15. Update the Vista Database
16. In the TAC Network view, right click controller (or select device and click ) and download,

click
Note: if the new 401 is in a group, you must download the master as well otherwise the device
will not come online in Workstation (the master 401 is underlined). Everything in the
controller will turn off while downloading, so confirm what’s in it before hand.

17. Click refresh . Right Click on the new node, Network/Repair Keep current configuration in
node

System Plug-In
1. From the TAC Network menu, click Commence Communication

Vista Workstation

2. Find new device (server\LNS\....) right click, properties – Neuron Status, ok.
3. Click refresh and device should come online
Note: If you miss a step and have an error (e.g. “Device on wrong channel” when it’s not), it is
recommended that you remove the device completely and start again.

4. From the TAC Network view, delete device

5. Delete the node and, only if the issue is in the template, delete the template
6. Click refresh

8. Check that the device is gone from both sides
9. Update the Vista Database

Then you can start all over again!
