Project Proposal

1. Title of the project :

Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and tracking of Mithuns & Wildlife in Indian North & North
East States.

( Problem stated by Government of Arunachal Pradesh in Smart India Hackathon- 2018)

2. Area of Research: IoT, Embedded system & Wireless communication.

3. Objective :

Government of Arunachal Pradesh is working for the uplift of rural economy by providing livestock and
poultry units in the state.
There are Mithuns bovine species which are let loose free in the forest leading to ownership
disputes thieving and sometimes become prey to the wild beast. The department is putting
constructive effort and in need of a Geographic Information System (GIS) which can,

i) Help to track down animals (Mithuns Bovine species) so they can be identified to its right owner
as well as they can be prevented from being prey to wild beast.
ii) Authenticate of vaccinated/non- vaccinated animal in the herd so that an effective effort can be
made in prevention of diseases out-breaks.

4. Duration of the project : The project is divided into 3 Phases:

S.No. Phase Duration (in Days)

1. Geographical & Technological Study 15 Days
2. Technological development & Simulation 30 Days
3. Prototype development & Live Testing 15 ays

5. Methodology : Ignite IoT Methodology

This is a combination of Agile Methodology & IoT process. The Methodology is very simple but is different
from other software / Project Methodologies. This methodology is explained as follows:

i) Ignite / IoT Strategy Execution: Define IoT strategy and prepare organization for IoT adoption.
Create and manage a portfolio of IoT projects to support IoT strategy.

ii) Ignite / IoT Solution Delivery : Plan, Build and Run IoT solutions.
6. Number of Research Students to be engaged (2-5): The Problem is Dividing into 3 modules
according to
Requirements of Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
i) Owner Ship dispute.
ii) Track the animals in the Area up to where animals can go after letting go by their owner, track
then wildlife danger area.
iii) The Medical help & Vaccination Tracking.

Total Number of students in the Project = 6 .

MCA (2016-2019) = 2
MCA (2017-2019) = 4

7. Brief on relevance /Utility of the Research in Corporate/ Industry in the current scenario :

The problem is a real life scenario stated by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh. Well as per the study
carried out by the students the same problem is faced by other Hilly states such as Sikkim, Nagaland,
Meghalaya, Tripura , Mizoram, Uttrakhand & Himachal Pradesh. If the Project is successful then it can be
brought into Production and can also be exported to Other Countries.

The main benefit of this project is that it is affordable and will be very usefull for the People in the Hilly
Areas. The network as designed by us will be beneficial to the People as well as can be used by the
Government in security services.

8. Budget for Financial Assistance from the Institute (Maximum limit Rs.50,000/-):

Estimated Budget: Rs.26000/- ( Twenty Six Thousand Only)

The Budget can be stated as follows:

S.No. Expenditure Fields Amount (in Rupees)

1. Research & Study Material 2000
2. IoT devices ( microcontroller Board + 17000
Sensors)+ Wires + Other devices
3. Model Architecture + other devices 3000
4. Testing Tools & Visit for Live Testing 4000

Total 26000/-
