PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently,
especially Sylvester Shalla, Lorna Aubrey, Robenna Corbin, Anne Marie McLellan
and Marjorie Humphry.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION
As we begin a new fall season we seek God’s blessing on families, school children and teachers.
Entering into the newness of the school year may God fulfill hopes and bring safety to the journey.
We here at St. Francis Xavier Parish now embark on the journey with you. In a few weeks, we
will begin our “On Our Way with Jesus” program of Sacramental Preparation. As well, Bishop
Mulhall will be with us to celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation in November.
Consequently, our preparation for the sacrament will soon begin. May this be a re-awakening
of our Baptismal commitment to build the faith experience of our young people.

SUNDAY HOSPITALITY MINISTRY: We are grateful to many new Liturgical Ministers who will
be assisting us now. Thank you for your generosity of time and talent.
One area of particular need is the Sunday morning Hospitality Group. If you are inclined to
participate in the parish as a greeter please call the parish.

EMERGENCY APPEAL FOR VICTIMS OF THE FLOOD IN PAKISTAN

In reply to a letter from the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), Bishop Mulhall
endorses support of financial assistance to the victims of Pakistan. In this view, he requests
that all parishes of the diocese contribute to the Bishop’s Collection for Pakistan” as soon as
possible. A collection for this cause will be taken up on the weekend of September 11-12.
The funds will be allocated to Development and Peace which, in turn, is collaborating directly with
Caritas Pakistan, the local Catholic Agency for relief and assistance which is also a member of
Caritas International, the Church’s global humanitarian aid network.

EXPLORING OUR CATHOLIC FAITH: Interest in exploring our Catholic Faith has been expressed by a
couple of people. The Rite of Christian
C hristian Initiation is a process of preparing people for such a journey.
Some people, however, are interested in faith exploration
explorat ion and are not totally unaware of our traditions.
Consequently, we need to adapt a program in an appropriate way. We would, at this time, invite anyone
who is interested in such an exploration to contact the parish office now. We will prepare a proces processs
mindful of where the participants are at in their faith journey.
