CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

Advancement of technology is undeniable fast and exceed one’s imagination which pushes
the development of modern world towards its peak of success. Because of this the modern
world introduced a Automated and Computerized System. This systems will help the people
in the field of communication, science, and the business around the world to automate their
manual processes and to make their work more productive and efficient. Acquiring this kind
of system generates a huge leap in keeping pace with today’s trend.

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The following problems are discovered by the researchers:

 The employees scan the list of the products manually for the price of the products.
This problems occurs during the payment transaction of the customers. This problem
consume a big time especially peak seasons.
 The human traffic in the cashier line because of a manual process.
 When the new products are added in the inventory, the employees will count the
products manually and write it down in a piece of paper. Then after that by the end of
the day the employees will count the products again and check if the transaction for
that day is correct.
 Losing the documents, sometimes the employees misplaced the documents or the
employee forgets if where she/he put the documents.
 In calculating the total amount of items purchase, the employees might press the wrong
number in the calculator.
 The manual process can’t print a necessary data’s.
 The manual process can’t back-up all the transaction in case of the fire or other
calamities.
 Hassel for the employees if the entire inventory needs to update a product or add a
new product. The employee will recreate the whole inventory documents.

1.4 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

The following are the General and Specific Objectives of the study.

1.4.1 GENERAL OBJECTIVES


To develop APPLICATION OF BARCODE SCANNER IN SALES AND INVENTORY
FOR ALOCADA ENTERPRISES.
1.4.2 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

The following are the specific objectives of the study:


 To create a system that will help the employees lessen their burden at work, lessen
the human errors because we can’t avoid the fact that human error is one of the
biggest problem during a transaction.
 To create a system that calculate the sum total automatically.
 To create a system that can print a receipt for the customers.
 To create a system that can help the business in making every transaction faster and
productive. So that the employees will no longer write down the details of the
products.
 To create a system that can help the employees to view automatically the products
information whether the products is out of stock.
 To create a system that can help the employees to have a quick view of the products
that the customers demand.
 To create a system that will scan the product using a barcode scanner in order to
make the transaction more efficient and reliable. Because in using a barcode
scanner the products information will pop-up.
 To create a system that can add a new products, can remove and edit if necessary.
1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This study will benefit the following:
 To the company-this study will lessen the hassle cause by the manual process and
help the company become more efficient and productive.
 To the employees-this study will help the employees to manage the clients order
without hassle because of the help of the system.
 To the customers-this will help the customer to lessen the time consuming manual
process of the company and to reduce the human error and traffic cause by the
manual process of the company.
 To the researchers-this will help them improve their observation of a study,
understanding a problem and to make a solution of the problem.
 To the future researchers-this study will help them to have an information or
initial idea of the said system.
1.6 LOCALE OF THE STUDY
This study was conducted in Sto. Niño, South Cotabato
1.7 SCOPE AND LIMITATION
The following are the Scope and Limitation of the study
1.7.1 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The following are the scope of the study:
 The system has the inventory of the products
 The system has a sales report of the products.
 The system can print a receipt for the customers.
 The system can perform all the IPO DIAGRAMS processes that are stated
above.
 The system can add a new products.
 The system can edit or remove products if needed.
 The system automatically update products when purchasing.
 The system can calculate the product automatically.

1.7.2 LIMITATION OF THE STUDY


The following are the limitation of the study.
 The system is programmed for Alocada Enterprises only
 The system can’t print a receipt without paying the exact amount purchase.
