SEMINAR AND ITS IMPORTANCE

WHAT IS SEMINAR?
 A seminar may be defined as a gathering of people
for the purpose of discussing a stated topic.

 Such gatherings are usually interactive sessions.

 The sessions are headed or led by one or two


presenters who serve to steer the discussion along
the desired path.
WHO DOES WHAT?
 Often a seminar is led by a student who prepares
and presents the topic .

 It is the responsibility of the other students to


contribute their ideas, opinions and questions.

 The tutor's role is as a facilitator.

 They try to encourage contributions and at the end


of the seminar they may sum up and draw some
conclusions.
OBJECTIVES OF SEMINAR
 Cognitive objectives:

 To develops the higher cognitive abilities that is


analysis , synthesis and evaluation.

 To develop the ability of responding that is valuing,


organizing etc.

 To develop the ability of keen observation,


experience ,feeling and to present them effectively.

 To develop the ability to seek clarification and


defend the ideas of other effectively.
 Affective objectives

 To develop the feeling to tolerate the opposite ideas


of other.

 To develop the feeling of cooperation.

 To develop the emotional stability among the


participants of seminar.

 To acquire a good manner of putting questions and


to answer the questions of other effectives.
PURPOSE OF SEMINAR
 A seminar may have just one purpose or many.

 For instance, a seminar may be for the purpose of


education, such as a lecture, where the participants
engage in the discussion.

 Other forms of educational seminars might be held


to impart some skills or knowledge to the
participants.
 A seminar can be motivational.

 The purpose is usually to inspire the attendees to


become better people, or to work towards
implementing the skills they might have learned
from the seminar.
 Sometimes, seminars are to network and meet
other attendees with similar interests.

 Such seminars provide opportunities for the


attendees to make valuable contacts that can help
them move to the next level in their careers.
 A trade seminar brings a wide cross-section of the
community together.

 Such seminars often consist of workshops and the


presentation of white papers.

 They are held for the purpose of networking with


various vendors and making new connections.
IMPORTANCE OF SEMINAR AMONG
STUDENTS
 Seminars are capable of keeping the students
updated with the technologies.

 Making students to conduct seminar is an effective


way for them to grasp the subjects in a better
manner.

 It also help them to convey their own ideas to their


friends and teachers.

 It helps with their presentation skills.


CONCLUSION
 Seminars may be described as gatherings for the
purpose of disseminating informations to a
relatively large crowd.

 Everyone present have specific roles to play.

 The two objectives of seminar are cognitive and


affective objectives.

 A seminar may be for the purpose of education,


motivation, to network, make new connections etc.
 Seminars are an effective tool for students in
classroom setting to acquire knowledge in a more
effective way.

 It allows the students to gather a more depth


insight about the subjects.
