Replacing the Plates 2.2

NOTE The plates and curved rings can be operated manually while
power OFF. This will make replacing the plates easier.

Removal 0

• Carefully turn the plates by the curved rings into the position shown in the illustration
(Fig. 1 / p. 8) (makes it easier to remove the plates).
• Remove the 4 mounting screws.
• Remove the defective plates. Make sure that the defective plates are complete after
removing them, and if applicable, remove broken parts from the collimator.

Fig. 1: Focus-near plates, mounting

Check the curved rings (visual check without removal). If they are okay, they can remain in
the collimator and can continue to be used. In this case, continue with the point “Inserting
the Plates“ (Inserting the Plates / p. 10).

Adjusting the Plates 0

Check the position of the plates using the gauge with the collimator closed (mechanical
stop) and, if needed, readjust by carefully bending the metal plate part.
The adjustment must be performed for both pairs of plates.

Final Work Steps 2.3

• Install the collimator in the system.

• Switch the system ON.
• Generate several test exposures at different collimator settings (minimum/maximum
collimator opening, as well as with the height plate opened to the minimum and with the
width plates opened to the maximum, and vice versa).
• If additional settings are required on the collimator, use the current version of the docu-
ment “Notes on Replacing, Repairing and Adjusting a Collimator”, RX74-020.842.01
