NETWORKING HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
 DSL or Cable Modem- it connects your PC to a
high speed DSL or Cable internet connection.
 Wired or wireless router- connects your DSL
or cable modem to your home network.
 Wired or wireless network adapters- the
device in your PC (or printers, gaming consoles
& other networking equipment) that connects
your PC to your network.
 ETHERNET CABLING- is used to connect your
wired network adapters to a router or network
switch.
Network connections vary in many ways
depending on the set up the user would want
to, availability of the network devices & the
location or map area.

ROUTER- is the glue that holds your home
network together. A central device of a home
network into w/c you can plug one end of a
network cable.
Ethernet-ready devices- networking devices
that come with an RJ 45 network port.
Router has 2 types of ports
LAN Ports- 4 LAN ports
WAN Ports- internet port

The actual speed of a network connection
depends on: * end devices, * quality of the
cable, * amount of traffic.
Broadband Modem- DSL Modem/Cable
Modem- bridges the internet connection from a
Service Provider to a computer or to a router,
making the internet available to consumers.
