This is the Spectrum Standard release.

Notes for Installation:

� DirectX 9c is required for a Spotlight 150 instrument or Raman Station/Micro

instruments where a video camera is used. If these instruments are not being
used or DirectX 9c is already installed (run 'dxdiag' from the 'Run' command
on the windows Start menu and look at the DirectX version) or the operating
system is Windows 7 (which ships with v10) then installation of DirectX can
be skipped.
� If you have the Touch App packs on your system and you want to upgrade
Spectrum,
you must uninstall the earlier version of Spectrum and Spectrum Touch from
the
Control Panel before you install your new software. Installing Spectrum
10.4.2
or above will no longer automatically install Spectrum Touch and a licence
key
for the Touch Runner or Touch Developer software will be needed to continue
to
run the Touch app packs.

Items on the Spectrum Software DVD-ROM:

. Readme.txt (this file)

. Setup.exe is the Spectrum installation program.
. IR and Raman software folder will provide installation of Spectrum Search
Plus
and Spectrum Quant+.

*** You must be logged onto Windows as Administrator to run Setup ****

. Autorun.inf is the automatic startup information file

used by Windows to start the upgrade installation on insertion
of the DVD-ROM.
. FlashPlayer folder contains the Adobe FlashPlayer ActiveX installer that is
required to be able to run the tutorials. If you do not already have
FlashPlayer
installed and you want to run the tutorials then run the Adobe Flash Player
installer as an OS administrator.
. PrimaryInteropAssembly.exe is a self extracting zip file containing a
Microsoft
redistributable package that installs the Microsoft Office 2007
primary interop assemblies that are used by the send to Word feature
in Spectrum. These are normally installed by Office 2007 but are
included here in case they have not been.

� Documentation folder containing:

- Spectrum Release Notes.pdf contains more detailed

information about this product. This is copied onto your
hard disk in the \Program Files\PerkinElmer\Spectrum\
Documentation folder.

- Spectrum Release Notes.rtf is a copy of the pdf file

above and can be opened using WordPad on the system without
 having to install Adobe Acrobat Reader. This is also copied
onto your hard disk in the \Program Files\PerkinElmer\Spectrum
\Documentation folder.

- Spectrum Structural Validation Certificate.pdf

is the software's Structural Validation Certificate. This is
also copied onto your hard disk in \Program Files\PerkinElmer\
Spectrum\Documentation folder

- Spectrum Known Bugs.pdf contains details about known

problems in the software and whether there are workarounds to
them. This is copied onto your hard disk in the
\Program Files\PerkinElmer\Spectrum\Documentation folder.

Items on the Software Utilities CD-ROM:

Included with your software package is a CD labelled 'Software

Utilities' that includes the following items. Please see the
installation instructions on that CD for more information.

� Adobe Reader and Adobe Air software, used to read .PDF files.

� Veritest software, which may be useful for validating your

installation. It allows you to take a 'snapshot' of a PC before
and after installation, and produces a file which documents all
changes to the PC by installing Spectrum software.
