They bring such joy to the residents e Bella (Maltese/Shitzu) and Lizzie (Maltese/Yorkey) love to share a bed, stroller, and meals, The only thing they frown upan is sharing their ‘Mommy-Linda, She cannot pick them both up at once. Lizzie gets VERY jealous and shows a lot of teeth and snarls at her sister. it's just a big show. She'd never hurt her. The girls love to hang out with their Brother Bird Squidword, and he alerts us to the fact that they have to go to the bathroom. He natices them, getting hyper, then says, "Go potty?" When we let them in, he whistles for them, and says, "Good girl.” When he flies near to where they are, he always says, "Hi buddy." it's heartwarming to see different species of animals interacting so peacefully. The child was so touched that she went to bed that night thinking of the children who have na place fo worship Jesus. Some two years later, this child lay dead in one of tha poor tenement buildings and the parents called for the kindhearted pastor who had befriended their daughter to handle the final arrangements. As her poor litle body was being moved, a wom and crumpled purse was found which seemed to have been rummaged from some trash dump, Inside was 67 cents and a note senibbled in childish handwriting which read, “This is to help build the kittie church bigger so more chidren can go to Sunday school.” For two years she had saved for this offering of love, When the pastor tearfully read that note, he knew what he would do. Carrying this note-and the cracked, red pocketbook to the pulpit, he told the story of her unselfish love and devotion. Before the close of the meeting, the fallawing questions taken from a question box, were discussed: 'Wheit does the Buble say about women? and "Who gave man the ballot?” Susan 8. Anthony. now in her 75® year, addressed the erowd that evening. Her address wes “a most able and eloquent one.” The convention would end that evening with an address by the Rev, Anna H. Shaw, “one of the mast eloquent women in the state.” The campaign for the vote in 1916 began three years in advance, The ‘Owego Gazette for October 24, 1912, announced “The First Invasion in Gwego of the Suffragetie.” This invasion was initiated by Miss Hartiet May Mills of Syracuse who spoke at two gatherings: one on Main Street and the other at the courthouse. This was the fist time that a woman has promoted suffrage in the street ‘in the true suffragette manner being a “peoduct of the twentieth century” The paper continued an to say “She does nat hesitate to go out into the highways and byways in pursuit of ‘votes for women”. Mills spoke from the automobile of Wiliam G. Elis with Mrs. Elis at the steering wheel The Gazette gave this appraisal of Miss Mils: “As a public speaker few men have any advantage of Miss Mills Clever and experienced, she speaks with dash, vim and vigor that holds her audience, whether they may be in sympathy wath her or not. She appeared to make a hit with a large proportion of her hearers Saturday night. When she was about to close her talk because her voice was tiring, a mate listener near the rear of the automobile, urged her to goon. And she went.” Miss Mills went out of her way to declare that she was. not a “militant”: “She emphatically declared that sha is a lover of peace, and was going to accomplish her ends byno harsher methods than moral suasion. No hurling of anathema, rocks, and vegetables of daubtful reputation in her campaign; no window-smashing nor the equivalent to prime minister baiting,” The latter being a reference to Emmeline Pankhurst and her organization known as the Women's Franchise League. Physical onfrantabons, assaulting police officers and window smashing were halimarks of this group along with hunger strikes, Miss Mills was absolutely convinced that women would win the vote in 1915. The state association of suffragettes was 100,000 strong and would make every effort so that ‘women could be sufficiently educated and initiated into all the political mysteries.” The automobile then proceeded to the courthouse where Miss Mis covered much of the same ground in a talk Lasting about three-quarters of an hour, She ended her talk with one of the most cagent arguments for giving women the right to vote “that it was an injustice that a woman should be taxed without representation ” The men were once again urged to sign pro-suffrage sips, and “Votes for Women" buttons were distributed, ~ To be continued TIOGA COUNTY RURAL MINISTRY THANKS GAULT TOYOTA FOR DONATION Tioga County Rural Ministry is thrilled to thank Connie ‘Gault of Gault Toyota for gifting our ministry with $2,500. They took that down and put two sets of hoops side by side and did some more really cool tumbling {ricks. The last part they had four sets of hoops al turning around and at one time had all eight of them gaing through the spinning hoops. Four leotard-clad women that looked like snakes climbed out of a large basket and performed a variety of dance and hand balancing moves. A guy came out with two ceramic pots, one significantly larger than the other. He used the smaller vase first, doing many balancing and tossing moves. Then he moved on to the larger po! and perfarmed similar tricks with this one, There was a tall metal apparatus that looked a litle like a Ferris wheel, it had three smaller hoops within the wheel and ane guy went into each of these hoops and they started walking, making the entire wheel go around in circles. As the wheel picked up speed, they started jumping and doing tumbling tricks in the hope Th They juggled, jumped rope, walked blindfolded and went backwards on the outside of the hoop, all with no safety hamesses or nets, The gir's came out again, this time doing a dance while swinging around two balls attached to a rope. It was prettly dark and the balls had brightly colored lights on them. They performed a variety of acrobatic and gymnastic type moves, all while swinging the ropes, They slarted tossing the ropes high in the air, doing flips, and then catching them. Then they tossed the ropes acrass to each other, forming a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes. First cultivated by the Indigenous peoples of the ‘Americas — notably the Aztecs - it is one of the oldest grains in the world. Varieties of amaranth grow all over India, Its leaves contain more iron than spinach, with a more delicate taste. Apart fram tice bran, amaranth grain has the highest content of iron amongst cereals. ‘Adding amaranth flour to wheattice flour is a cheap and healthy way to Peevent nutritional anemia. Amaranth is extremely rich in complex carbohydrates and protein, lt has 12-18% more protein than other cereals, is ‘very high in lysine, and is an essential amino acid. It is also one af the richest ‘sources of calaum. Amaranth greens are incredible edibles that grow: uncultivated in our fields. They are a major source of protein, calcium, phosphorus, carotene, vitamin C, magnesium, zinc, sodium, and potassium. ‘Amaranth is almost 500% richer in carotene than the genetically modified “Golden Rice,” which is being promoted as a means of addressing vitamin A deficiency.
