Description of the artifact and how it meets the standard and criteria:

This artifact shows the activity that I complete with my Social Studies classes. We make
a race out of it. In Social Studies, we learn the region of the United States. This game
asks the students to get postcards from all 50 states in the United States. I chose to use
this as an artifact because we talk about social studies, math and writing in this project.
For Social Studies, we talk about the map skills, population, and facts about the state.
For Writing, we talk about the writing style of a postcard and how to correctly write a
postcard. For math, we talk about the population in comparison to Iowa’s. We also talk
about how far it is in miles to reach Bondurant. It is one of the students favorite
activities.

Reflection on the artifact:

This is one of my favorite activities that I complete in a school year. The students,
parents and my teaching partner get so involved into this. It is the first thing that we
discuss in Social Studies. I think it is a great cross-curricular activity. This relates
information across each subject easily.
