NXb 30kva

Procedure to properly transfer an NXb from Normal operation to Maintenance Bypass and back to
Normal operation without dumping the Load.

Assuming that the NXb is Online and Normal operation supporting the Load:

1. Press the Inverter Off button until the inverter shuts off (2 or 3 seconds). Indications will be the klunk
sound of the contactors changeing position and the inverter LED will turn off, the Bypass LED will be
green, and the status will turn amber and an audible alarm will sound. The NXb will be in Static Bypass
and the inverter will be off.

2.Turn the rotary switch to the BYPASS position. The UPS will now be supporting the Load through the
contacts of the rotary switch. The Load will now be on Maintenance Bypass.

3. Turn the rotary switch to the TEST position.

4. Turn the rotary switch to the MAINT position. Open rectifier breaker CB1. The display screen now
goes dark.

The UPS is now safe to work on. Keep in mind that unless there is also an external Maintenance
Bypass, the rotary switch will still be energized, however the voltage is inside the box with the rotary
switch.

To restart the NXb.

Assuming that the NXb is Off and supporting the Load through the Maintenance Bypass contacts of
the rotary switch:

1. Rotate the rotary switch to the TEST position. CB1 stays Off. Indications will be the klunk sound of the
contactors chaging position and Display comes up and the Alarm LED is amber. You may silence the
audible alarm by pressing the alarm silence button for 3 seconds.

2. Close CB1. Rectifier LED will blink green while the rectifier walks in then goes out then come on solid
green.

3. Then and only then rotate the rotary switch to the BYPASS position. Indications will be the Rectifier,
Bypass and Load LEDs will be Green. Wait at least 3 seconds before proceding.

4. After waiting at least 3 seconds, rotate the rotary switch to the NORMAL position. The load is now on
Static Bypass.

5. Press the Inverter On button. Indications will be the Inverter LED will be blinking green while the
Inverter walks in then goes solid green. There will be an Inverter Asynchronous alarm which will
automaticly clear when the NXb matches the frequency of the bypass. Then the Load will be automaticly
switched from static bypass to inverter. Indications will be the Bypass LED will be off, the Rectifier, Load
and Alarm LEDs will be green. Depending on the NXb firmware level, the Battery LED may be lit green or
not lit at all.
