What do you think is the best way to communicate performance appraisal result employees?

From my opinion there have several ways or steps to communicate about performance appraisal result
to employees. The first step is deliver all the good news to our employees, such as the successful
employee achieved for the last year, give all the evidence to make employee understand on what basis
they are evaluated, it must state clearly. The evaluated is not only focusing to work performance but
also about personality and employee behaviors it will create fair play situation for employee.

The second step after deliver the good news it’s time to raise any problematic issues to makes
improvement, collaborate and not to kill employee motivation because the goal in writing a review is
not to punish our employee but to increase their performance so it can give benefit to company and
employee. In raise the problematic issues, it must state in straightforward, honest and avoid anger or
contempt situation. In this step there have four approaches that can use:-

1. Emphasize the positive within the negative

When raise a problematic issues it will become sensitive issues to employee, so to make
employee feel comfortable try to put a reason or assumption. Assume maybe employee can’t
complete their task given because certain thing.

2. Couch your criticism in terms of the shared greater good rather than framing it as a personal
indictment
3. Enlist your employee as an ally in troubleshooting a vexing issue.

Made employees as an ally to solve some problem will help us to create a trust and good
relationship with our employees because the employee fell appreciated

4. Offer the employee flexible options in resolving a shortcoming.

The employee will a sense of agency to resolving a shortcoming, but the choice is not about
whether the problem will be solve but it more to how it will be solved.

After we state all the problematic, what the expectation and how to optimize his chances of meeting
those expectations, it’s time to outline what the future might hold or conclusion. We can state note of
encouragement, accolades, critiques and incentives to give employee more motivation to achieve the
goal.
