Pray without ceasing 

And a few other verses about prayer 

There are many more verses in the bible about prayer. I encourage you to do a word search on 
prayer yourself. And also I wanted to mention that there are many verses in the bible about 
Jesus praying. I encourage you to follow Jesus’s example and “pray without ceasing”. 
 
1 Thessalonians 5:17  ­   Pray without ceasing . 
 
James 5:13­18   Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing 
psalms. 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them 
pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: 15 And the prayer of faith 
shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they 
shall be forgiven him. 16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, 
that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. 
17 Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it 
might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six 
months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth 
her fruit. 
 
Matthew 6:9­13    And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for 
they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they 
may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when 
thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father 
which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7 But 
when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall 
be heard for their much speaking. 8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father 
knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.  9  After this manner therefore 
pray ye : “ Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, 
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And 
forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but 
deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. 
Amen. ” 
 
 
 
Pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you  ­  Matthew 5:44 
 
Matthew 9:38   P   ray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth 
labourers into his harvest. 
Luke 22:40  And when he was at the place, he said unto them,  Pray that ye enter not 
into temptation . 
 
Matthew 17:20­22   And Jesus said unto them,  Because of your unbelief: for verily I say 
unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, 
Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible 
unto you. 21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting . 
 
Philippians 4:6­7    Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication 
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, 
which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ 
Jesus. 
 
 
Colossians 4:2    Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving. 
 
1 Timothy 2:1­4   I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, 
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are 
in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men 
to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
