Postgraduate Programme for Practicing Engineers

PREAMBLE

In order to open a window of opportunities to practicing engineers, The Institution of Engineers (India) (IEI) offers Postgraduate
Programme to its Associates and Corporate Members in selected engineering disciplines (namely, in Civil, Electrical, Electronics and
Communication, Mechanical and Quality Engineering and Management) in collaboration with Birla Institute of Technology (Deemed
University), Mesra (Ranchi). This programme facilitates the members to widen their knowledge and acquainting them with new and emerging
technologies to upgrade competence in the competitive industrial environment.

ELIGIBILITY

Associates and Corporate Members secured minimum 60% marks in B.E./B.Tech/Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations, with
minimum three years post qualification (academic/industrial) experience, are eligible for registration of the Postgraduate Degree Programme
in the respective engineering discipline. Persons not fulfilling the stipulated percentage criterion will only be eligible for Postgraduate Diploma
Programme.

Non-members are requested to apply for membership in the appropriate grade ('A', 'AM', 'M' and 'F') by submitting his/her membership form
with requisite fee . Only after the election by the Institution as member, applicants are eligible to register themselves for the above-mentioned
Postgraduate Programme.

ME Degree in Respective Engineering Disciplines with specialization

The examinations in Parts I and II are conducted by IEI to award Postgraduate Diploma. Part III of the programme is required to be pursued
at the Birla Institute of Technology, Ranchi (host institute) for award of 'Postgraduate Degree'.

EXAMINATION

The examination shall be conducted twice in a year in the months of April and October. Examination in each subject shall be of three hours
duration. Candidates registered for the programme shall be eligible to appear at the examination. Each applicant should submit the
Examination Form within the specified date along with the prescribed examination fee in the form of demand draft only. A registered
candidate for Part I or Part IIA shall be permitted to appear at an examination in one or more subjects but not exceeding five subjects at a time.

No candidate shall be allowed to appear in any subject of Part II without passing Part I completely. At present, the examination is being
conducted at Chennai (600), Delhi (110), Hyderabad (500), Kolkata (700), and Nagpur (440).

RULES AND PROSPECTUS

Rules and Prospectus booklet (a prized publication of Rs 100/-) containing general information about registration, eligibility, examination
rules, list of subjects in Part I and IIA, schedule of fee, registration form for Part I Examination, etc. is available on demand at Headquarters of
IEI at Kolkata or at any State/Local Centre of IEI. Syllabi (a prized publication of Rs.100/-) for each discipline are also available from IEI
headquarters. An amount of Rs. 200/- (for both the syllabi and prospectus and rules) or a sum of Rs.100/- (for prospectus and rules / syllabi of
the respective engineering disciplines) can be obtained from IEI HQ by forwarding a demand draft along with a letter addressed to The
Director (Finance) requesting him for the specific requisition.

MODE OF APPLICATION

Interested persons fulfilling the required criteria may apply for a copy of 'prospectus and rules', a copy of syllabi or both in the attached
proforma, enclosing a demand draft of Rs.200/- / Rs.100/- (strikeout the non required item) in favour of 'The Institution of Engineers (India)'
payable at Kolkata.
