It is a prevalent belief that as our lives became replete with technology over the years, the levels of
happiness and health have decreased noticeably, becoming inferior to the ones in the beginning of the 20th
century. Furthermore, this issue frequently occurs among the youth, which will result in a future sedentary
population, whose matter should be resolved urgently by the institutions in which they spend most of their
times: schOOls.
One approach that schools could take would be implementing sports programmes in the students’
schedules which are filled with subjects that are supposed to develop their mental capacity. No one would
dispute the fact that keeping one’s body fit induces one’s mind to work at its fullest, hence movement is
undoubtedly needed in their path to education. Moreover, each school gym should own efficient equipment
which will meet each of the scholars’ desires, in terms of practicing sports.
An alternative approach, in case the school does not own the necessary funds for building a legit gym,
should concern the local councils of every town and it consists in organising sports clubs, where children can
gather and choose to take up on what they each prefer. These clubs would have a wide range of facilities and
people of all ages could enjoy them.
To conclude, schools should really address the matter of their students’ physical health, but unless
they are willing to financially invest in it, they should also require help from the local councils. Therefore, sports
clubs could be organised, which I think should soon become ubiquitous.
PART 2 REPORT
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing in response to your request for writers which would tell the stories of people whose lives
marked the local area through their behaviour and would be of interest to an international readership.
To begin with, a viable example would be a local known person, which was admired by many for his
strength and endurance in tough conditions. His name was Sandel and he was a man who lived on the streets,
but impressed everyone with his kindness and the joy which was permanently spread on his face with his
unfathomable eyes. However, he was not water-tight and sometimes he felt an urge of touching people on
their hair, probably from lack of affection. He once touched me on my hair and although i felt disgusted,
unbeknown to me was his greatness and poverty in which he lived. The news of his death came with sorrow
and woe in our lives, but we managed to raise funds and organise a proper funeral for him.
Another example which I could relate about would be my grandma, whose lifestyle did not mark the
town but it had a major impact on my life and I think it is a model to talk about. All her life, her actions were
always inclined towards the goodness of others and not for hers. She dedicated her life to growing her
daughter, sacrificing her emotional happiness for her sake, thus the reason I would like to write about her.
To conclude, I am convinced that these people would be of interest to people in other countries and I
would very much like to have the opportunity to write about them for your magazine.
Yours faithfully,
El Negro
