Sunday, January 14, 2018 Second Sunday After Epiphany

A Peek At The Sunday Sermon

The Second Touch From Jesus
Mark 8:22-26
In Mark’s Gospel, we read about this miraculous healing – Jesus
restores the sight to a man who is blind.

This event, however, is

different – a bit unusual. Why
the need for a second touch
from Jesus? Now we know
that everything Jesus did, he
did for a reason. There must
be some purpose in the two-
touch healing of this man.

On Sunday I’ll be exploring the Scriptures and I will submit, what I

believe, is a deeper meaning. See you Sunday at 10 AM!

The first Sunday of 2018 marks the beginning of the

Epiphany season. The liturgical colors have been
changed to green – leading up to the day before Ash
Wednesday and the start of Lent.

Our suggested Scripture reading for January 14, 2018, from the 2018 UCC
Church Calendar:
Psalm 139:1-6 & 13-18 (NLT)
A Psalm of David
1O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know
when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. 3 You
see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. 4 You
know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. 5 You go before me and
follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. 6 Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully com-

plex! Your workmanship is marvelous — how well I

know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed
in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the
dark of the womb. 16 You saw me before I was
born. Every day of my life was recorded in your
book. Every moment was laid out before a single
day had passed.

How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake

up, you are still with me!

and anointing for the healing of
spiritual, emotional, and
physical needs.

I hope you are having a blessed week. I’m looking forward to seeing you on
Sunday – it’s going to be a great day in The Lord!
