Rosa Acosta doesn’t just have a beautiful face, but she is very talented
as well. Rosa started her classic ballet studies at the age of four at the
Centro de la Cultural in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She later moved on
to the ICA, (Instituto de Cultura y Arte), where she excelled as one of the
most gifted students of the academy. She initiated her modeling career in
2004, participating in magazines and television for prestigious Dominican
Enterprises. Rosa moved to United States in 2006 where her career took a
new turn, distinguishing herself in several areas in the modeling world.

LRG: What is your nationality?

Rosa: I am 100% Dominican.

LRG: What are you interested in besides

modeling?
Rosa: Ballet and Arts in general.

LRG: Tell us a little bit more about your

ballet career?
Rosa: I started dancing when I was 4 years old, and I graduated with honors in
2001. At the age of 18 I joined the Dominican National Ballet as the youngest so-
loist member. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life because I had the
opportunity to be part of the only dance company in my country. While I was a
dancer, I participated in the most prestigious international events and met a lot
of artists. When I moved to USA, I decided not to dance professionally anymore,
but ballet will always be my passion.

LRG: What is your ultimate goal to achieve

in ballet?
Rosa: I already achieved my goals as a dancer, I dance with all my heart for 18
years non-stop and I was the best dancer I could ever be.

models?
Rosa: I’m just a regular person. I like hanging out with
my girls and going shopping. I spend a lot of time with
my friends. I feel that is very important, you have to stay
grounded in this business.

LRG: What do you fi nd sexy about yourself?

Rosa: That I’m very feminine.

LRG: Are you into women?

Rosa: No, but I think a woman who is comfortable in her
own skin is very sexy.

LRG: Describe yourself in 3 words?

INTERVIEW WITH JO KOY
“All the world’s a stage.” We’ve all heard this famous quote,
taken from a monologue in Shakespeare’s “As You Like It,”
and while it may apply to life in general, the world of stand-up
comedy is quite different; only a selected few actually deserve to
grace this stage. One of those gifted individuals is comedian Jo
Koy, who is a hard working funny man with a rare combination
of timing, wit, and charm, who never turns off his funny. The
road to success for Jo has been a long one, however, and while
the concept of comedy is subjective in nature, Jo Koy has honed
his craft to the point that he can make anyone laugh. He doesn’t
just “do comedy,” he lives and breathes it, constantly pushing
himself to write ground breaking material that will keep him
among the upper echelon of the comedic elite.
Jo’s impressive resume includes national tours, appearances
on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and the holy grail of come-
dic success: his very own one-hour special on Comedy Central.
He’s also been pegged for funny woman Chelsea Handler’s
show “Chelsea Lately,” scoring numerous appearances on her
infamous roundtable, as well as tour dates with The Comics of
Chelsea Lately.
He is a story of sacrifice, determination, dedication, and
learning how to laugh when life would rather make you cry.
He sat down with us to shed some light on life, success, and
the reason why this comedian of Filipino descent will never be
pigeon-holed as “the Asian guy who tells jokes about Chinese
restaurants.”
LRG: Where are you from?
KOY: Originally Tacoma Washington and then I moved to
Vegas and that’s where I call home now.
LRG: How old were you when
you moved to Las Vegas?
KOY: I was 18 years old.

LRG: Was it a family move or a solo move?
KOY: Yeah my grandmother was dying and we all moved
there to be by her side and we just called it home and
wouldn’t leave.
LRG: When you were 18, what were you doing?
Were you into any kind of comedy when you were
living out there?
KOY: Nope not at all, but I knew I wanted to be a comic.
You know what I use to do when I was out there? I use to
sign my name. I would practice my signature on every-
thing when I was in Washington. People were like “you’re
a dork” but I wouldn’t tell anybody. But I was really prac-
ticing my signature for how I would do my autographs.
LRG: Did you always knew you wanted to
be a comic?
KOY: Oh yeah! In Washington was when I knew I wanted
to be a comic. Like that’s when I saw “Delirious” and
that’s when I saw Eddie Murphy, Richard Pryer and
Robin Williams live at the Met and Whoopie Goldberg.
I mean all of this stuff inspired me to be a comic. Even
Bill Cosby himself. After that it was over with. I knew I
wanted to be one of those guys.
LRG: Once you got to Vegas, how long did it take
you to do your first show? How was that transition
from Washington to Vegas?
KOY: The first year I was there I bombed and it took me
another 5 years to get back on stage. I was doing this
competition my sister was in. She was singing in it. Star-
mania was the name of it and they had like comics versus
singers and dancers you know kinda like Star Search.
And my sister was singing and I saw a comedian go up
and I was like oh I’m going to join. I didn’t tell anyone I
was joining and I bombed so bad! It took me 5 years to
get back on stage again.
LRG: When you bombed that show, is that why it
took you 5 years to get back on stage again?
KOY: Yeah. Cause I knew I needed to really figure out
how to get up on stage and talk before I knew how to tell
a joke. You know the joke came second. So I would just
study and I would watch comics. I would watch stand up
comedy and I would learn how they would get to a joke
so fast and control the crowd. It took me about 5 years. So
around 93’-94’ was when I went up at a coffee house and it
was kinda over after that.
LRG: What age did you finally move to Los Angeles?
KOY: Oh man …LA? It took me 10 years to move to LA.
Even after I moved to LA I would go back and forth. I
would commute. I still couldn’t fully commit and then
after about 2 years of that, then I finally just made the
commitment. Any type of form of entertainment is here.

LRG: I know you talk sometimes about your
mother and your mother’s reaction in regards to
you wanting to do comedy and bypass school. How
hard was the decision?
KOY: Ah man she cried, I cried. I was the last one. She
had 3 kids and a daughter she adopted. None of us went
to college. I was the baby too. All her sisters had kids and
they all went to college and let’s just say she had one sis-
ter where all of her kids went up north. And then there
was me. I was my mom’s last hope. I don’t even know
why I was going to school. I was like wtf am I doing
here? I barely passed high school. My mom felt I coudn’t
do anything with comedy. And now 13 years later, she
realized it was the right decision, so now she’s apolo-
gizing and telling everyone it was her idea. Now she’s
taking all the credit. “I always told him be a comedian
Josep. I knew he was funny when he came out of my va-
gina. He was a ‘fanny’ big baby. His umbilical cord was
a microphone”, she says. Now she writes jokes and there
f*ckin awful. She’ll write a joke and put it on the door
like a post it, and it’ll be the worst joke in the world and
she’ll say what do you think? You think you can use that
joke and I’m like no mom. No one can use that joke. And
then she’ll take the joke back and say you know I’ll use it.
I’ll use this joke. (Filipino accent) “It’s the way you say it
and if you can not say it then it’s not funny”.
LRG: In your acts you have a lot of material about
your son. How did you feel when you heard the
news that you were having a baby?
KOY: I knew. The baby was planned. It wasn’t an acci-
dent. But what sucks is when you’re a comedian and you
don’t have any responsibilities like another human you
don’t give a sh*t. It’s like I got a gig here, I made enough
money to buy me some food this month. But when I
found out I’m having a kid, I’m like oh fu*k I’m respon-
sible now. I got another human that depends on me, who
needs to eat, who needs clothes. It’s pretty scary. With
standup it’s easy when you’re single. You don’t have a
kid and you can live like that, but when I had to pick it
up and hustle, that’s when my business savvy started
kicking in. I knew I had it but nothing kicked me into
gear like my son did. And I made an extra effort to go
after these festivals like the Montreal Comedy Festival.
I wanted the Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno. I wanted these
things and I knew I could get them, I just stepped it up.
LRG: Explain how hard it is to write jokes
and get gigs.
KOY: It’s the hardest. There are no gigs in LA. There’s 4
rooms, then you got 6000 comics out there. And then of
course you got the pros too that live out here and write
also, then they have to go up everyday. You’ll have a
George Lopez, a Carlos Mencia, Chris Rock, Dave Chap-
pelle and Robin Williams. I mean I’ve done shows with
Robin Williams just walking off the street and here we
are on stage together. You jus’t get on stage, you gotta
prove yourself and you gotta do the worse time slots.
Like 1 o clock in the morning, 2 in the morning and you
gotta show people at 2 in the morning that you’re fu*king
funny and there’s only like 6 people in the audience. It’s
the worst. But then you prove yourself and people are
like oh fu*ck this guy’s a head turner and then they move
you to the better time slot. It’s a gradual thing. It’s just a
long road.

LRG: Being of Filipino descent how hard was it to
not get pigeon holed to be like “oh he’s a Filipino
comedian or an Asian-American comic”?
KOY: That was my personal preference not to be viewed
that way. I knew right away when I was 20. I’m just a
comedian and I just happen to be Filipino. A lot of these
guys are viewed as “oh the Filipino guy” and do these
Filipino jokes and say to people “Filipino’s come see
me”. I know I could do that but I didn’t want to cause
when you do that you select your audience. Even if I did
a Filipino joke I wanted to do it in a way that everyone
would get it. Like when I talk about my mom I don’t talk
about oh well only Filipino’s get this joke cause she’s a
Filipino mom. I didn’t want to do it that way. I wanted
to tell the joke to where everyone got it- black people got
it, white people got it, and Asian people got it. Cause it
doesn’t matter. Moms are mom’s it doesn’t matter what
race or color. It’s just they’re all funny they just do things
different. They’ll say things different. I get people at the
end of the show walking up to me saying “my mom did
the same thing. My mom puts me in talent shows”. The
things are still there she being a mom is still there it’s
just my mom says it in a different way. So that’s what I
wanted to do. I wanted to be relatable.
LRG: Knowing that you’re a pretty busy man do
you ever turn down opportunities?
KOY: Early on, there were things that were hand offered
to me that were turned down and people couldn’t believe
I turned it down cause they were great opportunities.
When Comedy Central came up with this idea called
“The Kim’s of Comedy”, it was going to be all Asians. 4
Asians like Bobby Lee, Dr. Ken (the guy from Knocked
Up) and they wanted me to close it and I turned them
down. They were like “why are u turning this down?

Central”. I told my agent well why do I have to be an It’s literally just us talking. We don’t really write

I
’ve been called many things in my day;
Renaissance Man, Jack of All Trades and
master of none, nerd behind a camera,
obnoxious eccentric flirt, gadget geek,
generally loud Puerto Rican. Seems safe to say
I’m all these things and none at the same time.
My name’s Jose Rosado and I’m a self-taught
model photographer from NY, recently relocated
to Philadelphia, with an MBA in Marketing and
a Bachelors in Advertising… strange I know.
That’s where my “Jack of All Trades” nickname
comes in, since I have so many things I’m into,
but without a doubt my most fun job is being a
model photographer.
Being able to travel all over, meeting new
people, taking pictures of gorgeous scantily clad
women and all while getting paid to do it, I truly
don’t have much to complain about. I got into
photography in college and what started out as
a hobby quickly turned into a career choice of
mine and some four years later I haven’t looked
back. I’ve worked with various companies and

modeling agencies, fashion, glamour, urban men’s
magazines, and beauty. Whether on location or
in the studio I make sure that my team and I

Janine: I grew up in Orange
County, but specifically I’m from
Santa Ana.

LRG: What’s your nationality?

Janine: I’m mixed (smile)… I’m
Chinese, Taiwanese, Japanese,
Dutch, and German.

LRG: Tell us one thing that you

can’t live without?
Janine: I can’t live without my
mom’s cooking (smile). She always
cooks a huge meal with all my
favorites whenever I visit home.

LRG: What are your turn-ons?

Janine: Good vibrations (laugh-
ing)…just kidding… I’m a simple
girl; I just love a perfect smile and
attention to the small things. I’m
also a smart girl, so a guy better
bring a lot to the table.

LRG: What is one thing a guy

can do to turn you off?
Janine: The absolutely one thing
that is my biggest turn off is a guy
who is beyond cocky… with no
reason to be!!! I also hate to be
bored; a guy who is both cocky and
boring is a dating nightmare.

LRG: What is your favorite

part of a car?
Janine: The VROOOOM!!!
(Laughing). When you turn the
key, I love that sound.

LRG: What makes you sexy?

What is sexy?
Janine: People say that I’m sexy
because I like to laugh. To me, sexy
is a combo of confidence, smarts,
and being funny (smile).

a music video game developed by FreeStyleGames and published by
Activision that is scheduled to be released in late October. Just like the
guitar in Guitar Hero being the controller, this game uses an authentic

spin songs. It features online and offline multiplayer competitive and
cooperative modes to allow you to party with your friends. This is the
perfect gift to give to a close friend or family member so that you too
can benefit from it. Make sure you keep an eye out for this one and be

First glance at this device one would think

it’s a sliding display cell phone right? Well
think again! This beauty is Sony’s newest
version of their PSP handheld game device
called the PSP Go. It’s 15% lighter and 43%
smaller than the PSP-3000. You will be
able to download digital gaming or the
best movies and TV shows saved directly
to the 16 GB hard drive. You can even
utilize Skype to talk with friends using
the built-in Bluetooth. The system will
launch in two colors, Piano Black and
Pearl White in the Fall. As Sony says
