Sura Zariyat (or Winds That Scatter)

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

God swears upon four different states (or adjectives) of Wind – those
that winnow with a winnoing, and those that bear the burden (of the rain) and
those that guide with ease (upon the sea), and those who distribute (blessings)
by Command: Certainly, which you are promised is true. Day of Judgement
(or Justice) will have to come and pass. By the Sky with its numerous paths
(may be different orbits of the heavenly bodies). No theory or doctrine based
on a denial of a Hereafter can be consistent with the spiritual facts or with
God’s Goodness, Justice, and Mercy. Woe to the falsehood-mongers and who
are careless in an abyss. They ask: When is the Day of Judgement? It is the
day when they will be tormented at the Fire. It will be said to them. Test your
torment. This is what you sought to hasten. Certainly, those who keep
themselves away from evil, will dwell in Gardens and Springs and enjoying
the things which their Lord bestow upon them. These are the people who were
of the habit to sleep for a short span at night and get up early at dawn to pray
for their Lord’s forgiveness. Further, in their wealth the beggar and outcast had
due share. On earth and in yourselves, there are Signs of your Lord, for those
who have faith. Can you then not see? In the heaven is your providence and
that which you are promised. Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the
very Truth, as much as the fact that you can speak intelligently to each other.

Are you aware (O Prophet) that unusual guests visited Abraham. He

hurridly prepared a fatted calf for their feast. But they did not eat. At this
Abraham felt some fear about their identity (they were angels sent by God). In
the meantime they gave him happy news that he will be bestowed with a wise
son. But his wife considered it as a joke as she was old and barren. But the
guests told them that it would be as the Lord is full of Wisdom and
Knowledge. Surprised Abraham enquired about their mission on earth. Their
mission was to destroy the people of Lut by raining on them stones marked as
from the Lord as these people had trespassed beyond bounds. Except in one
house (which was saved), there were no righteous people in any of the house
of the settlements (Sodom and Gomorrah). And Lord left there a Sign for such
as fear the Final Judgement (i.e. to say the vestiges can be seen as a Sign and a
Warning in the sulphury plain round the Dead Sea). In Moses there was
another Sign of your Lord. He was sent to Pharaoh with clear authority. But he
along with Chiefs turned their back to Moses. They called him a sorcerer or a
one possessed. The Lord seized them and flunged them into the sea. In the
ultimate fate of the tribe of ’Aad, there is also a portent. They were also the
rebels and God sent a violent winds against them. The fatal wind made dust
the rebellious ones. There is also a warning in the destruction of the tribe of
Thamud. They also rebelled, insolently defied the Command of their Lord.
They were taken by surprise. A furious thunderbolt overtook them. They even
could not rise up and died gazing. So were the People of Noah before them:
For they wickedly transgressed. We, with power and skill, have built heaven
with its vastness and have excellently spread the spacious earth. And all things
We have created by pairs, that haply you may reflect. Tell them (O
Muhammad) that you have been sent as a clear and open Warner from God.
The people to whom were sent apostles for their guidance, they always called
the apostles as sorcerer or one possessed. These people are transgressors
beyond bounds. So if they don’t take any heed to your teachings, turn away
from them. There shall be no blame on you whatsoever. But go on imparting
the Message (Quran) to your followers. God have created Jinns and men to
serve Him, their Lord, only. God is independed of all needs. He doesn,t require
any sustenance for God is He Who gives all sustenance. He is the Lord of
Power, – Steadfast (for ever). They beware: For those who (now) do wrong
there is an evil day same as it which came for those like them in the past. So
let them not ask Me to hasten for that day. Woe, then, to the Unbelievers, on
account of the Day of Punishment in the Hereafter, as well as any punishment
that may come to them in this life.
