Family Health Assessment

Family Name: ABC

Address: Malanday, Marikina City

I. Family Structure, Characterisitcs and Dynamics

The ABC family has 4 members, composed of Mr. and Mrs.


ABC and their 2 daughters. Mr. ABC just 40 years old last month.
Mr. ABC works as a driver in a private company for 11 years and
her wife works as an accounting clerk at BIR for 10 years. Their
daughter’s age is 11 which is now in Grade 3 and 13 in Grade 4.
Mrs. ABC came from General Santos City and Mr. ABC comes
from Sarala, Mindanao. The family’s religion is catholic but Mr.
ABC that came from Mindanao is Muslim in religion. According to
Mr.ABC, they don’t have any problems regarding on the
differences of their family religion. The family’s structure is a
Nuclear Family headed by the father which is responsible for the
decision making in the family. But he consult’s the opinion of his
wife. They have an noticeable sign of respect for each family
members as we observed when we interviewed Mr. ABC. The
children used “Po and Opo” as a sign of respect.

II. Socio-Economic and Cultural Characteristics

The family’s monthly income is 30 thousand all in all. Mr.


ABC’s monthly income as a private company driver is 12
thousand pesos while her wife’s Omonthly income as a
accountant clerk at BIR is 18 thousand. According to our client,
their income is sufficient enough to meet their daily basic needs.
Both the couple decides on how their income will be spend.

MR. ABC finished his education as a vocational graduate of


an agricultural course. Mrs. ABC finished her education as an
Accountant. Their daughter is currently in elementary levels. The
family’s religion is catholic but Mr. ABC that came from Mindanao
is Muslim in religion. According to Mr.ABC, they don’t have any
problems regarding on the differences of their family religion.

III. Home and Environment

Our picked family lives in 35 Daisy Street Minahan, Libis


Barangay Malanday Marikina City. They live in a 1 storey
makeshift house with 1 window that serves as their sari-sari
store. They have 1 room for their sleeping place together and
another room for their kitchen together with their receiving area.
Their comfort room that has a water sealed latrine bowl is
located outside the house. Their water supply comes from
NAWASA but they purchase their drinking water at some distilled
drinking station. Their electricity source comes from Meralco
Inc. . Their house is approximately 1 kilometer away from the
health center. The recreational place for the barangay is located
near the health center as well as the chapel. They have 2 day
care center in the barangay, one is at the health center and the
other is in Carnation Street. The Malanday is divided into 2
places. The Minahan and the Bulelak. According to their client,
their living space at home is just appropriate for their family size.
The couple sleeps in a single size bed while their children sleeps
at the floor.

Outside the house, an unused tire can be seen at their


doorstep, that can be a breeding site for vector carrying disease
like dengue. Open drainage is also seen around and inside of the
house. Their garbage disposal area is outside the house, it has
no cover and it can be a source for breeding site of carrying
disease. Their clothes is just left hanging in their bedroom that
can be a site for hiding places of mosquito. They also have some
unfinished laundry left forgotten.
