power for the hydraulic valves and section motors. The thin red & black wires (2,5mm2)
provide power to the PCB itself. The green & yellow wires are data communications wires,
guiding the information signals between controlbox and SHC-box. (see picture SHC input

2.10.1 Flowsensor

Most of the sprayers are equipped with a flow sensor. The flowmeter measures the amount
of spraying liquid. Therefore it is assembled between the regulator and the section valves.

The sensor is connected to the DIG2 position on the (Sections) SHC PCB. The number of
pulses per liter can be set in the calibration menu.

Beginning of 2015 an new generation flowmeter is introduced. The wiring and connection
place is stayed the same.

Under some circumstances the flow meter is not turning anymore due to the fact that the
flow is out of the reach of the flowmeter.

2.10.2 Slope correction sensor (90°

black)

The sensor is assembled between the booms lifting frame and middle frame: by operating
the hydraulic slope correction function the sensor measures the changed angle between
both frames. This value is used for the slope indicator in the main screen and for the
automatic middle position of the boom. Connection is on the ANA2 position on the
(hydraulics) SHC.

2.10.3 Wheel sensor

With the inductive sensor and a wheel ring the driving speed is measured. On trailed
sprayers this sensor is connected to the DIG1 on the (Sections) SHC PCB.

Check the locking sensor signal

The locking sensor only reacts on a magnetic field. It is very important that you check the
signal with a magnet and not with just a metal plate.

Step 1.
Go to your control box test screen and check the LED.

Step 2.
Check if the sensor is reacting on a magnet

2.10.5 180 degree sensor

The 180 degree sensor comes in 2 different voltages (5 V and 12 V). Sprayers produced
before 11-2014 has an 5 V sensor machines produced after 11-2014 has an 12 V sensor.

5 volt 180 degree potential meter 12 volt 180 degree potential meter

The 180 degree sensors are used on the following places:

Function Connected to Machine type Number of sensors

Level indicator sensor ASV/VMC pilotbox iXter 1
Steering sensors FMA module iXtrack/Ikarus S 2
Ergodrive sensor SHC PCB iXtrack 1

page 34 Kverneland Group

An 5 V. sensor cannot always be changed by an 12 V sensor (and other way around).

ASV/VMC pilotbox-
Same part number can be used for 12V and 5 V sensor. There is an 5 V connection place and
an 12 V connection place inside the ASV/VMC pilotbox

SHC PCB
Same part number can be used for 12V and 5 V sensor. Jumper setting on the SHC PCB
decides if the PCB is 5V or 12 V “ready”. Connection place of the sensor on the SHC PCB
stays the same:

FMA module
For the FMA module there are different part numbers for modules compatible with 5 V
sensors and compatible with 12 V sensors. An sticker on top of the box indicate for what the
sensor the box is ready.

2.10.6 Pressure sensor

In some cases sprayers are equipped with a pressure sensor instead of a flow meter
The pressure sensor must be connected to the SHC-PCB at position ANA 1.
The locking LED must than be connected to the DIG 2 (flow sensor connection)

Attention: Check the position of the jumper on the PCB!

4.4 Calibrating electronic level indicator

For a good calibration process please follow up the steps one by one.

Step 1.
Calibrate your spray flow meters in a correct and precise way. (look in your instruction manual
for more detailed information.

Step 2.
Fill up the tank with clean water.
The tank has to be filled with the Normal tanksize+100 liter (Ixter)+40Liter( Ikarus S).
Make sure the float in the tank is not touching the top of the tank. (Special attention with
Ikarus S)

To fill the tank with a not calibrated machine can only be done in the filter cleaning position.

Step 3.
Go to screen Calibration

Step 4
Press the Button and the screen Start will appear.

Step 5
Press the Button and the screen Start Sprayer will pop-up

Step 6
Switch off the agitation system. (This is to prevent movements in the tank when the tank is
almost empty

Step 7
Open the main valve on the FMC control box.

Step 8
Check if the liters on the ASV screen starts to run.

Step 9.
Look inside the tank and switch of the main valve when the float is touching the bottom.
(Advice take the box in your hand on the sprayer or ask an extra person)

Step 10
After switching of the main valve the following message will appear Cal. Completed

Step 11.
Confirm with the OK bottom

page 100 Kverneland Group

Extra added function.

When during the process something is gowning wrong. Push the bottom.

The calibration function has now stopped (sprayer is still spraying)

Switch the main valve and the control box and after 5 second start it up again.
The previous calibration value is now still inside the box. And calibration steps can be activated
again.

4.5 Machine type Ixter and Ikarus (Wrong functioning
valves)

The ASV box can be used on both mounted and trailed sprayers.
In the parameter list there are 2 settings responsible for the difference in machine type.

Parameter 25.
Parameter 25 is responsible for the filter value of the level indicator. For a potentiometer the
value is 15% (Default)
When the system is fitted on a Ixtrack the sensor is a level indicator. To let this sensor work in
a good way the filter has to be adjusted at 2%.
This value can only be changed with a flash tool!!

Parameter 26.
This setting is responsible for which machine type is selected. This parameter is changing
automaticly by the tank size.
< 2400L Ixter= machine type 0
>2400L trailed = machine type 1

Parameter 27
This parameter is responsible for the signal of the potentiometer.
This means for an ASV on an Ikarus S this value has to be filled in as reversed
This value can only be changed with a flash tool!!

5.4 Machine type (Wrong functioning valves)

For a good functioning of the ixclean pro the system needs to know how the water system of
the sprayer is.
This has to be changed with valve type. Setting.

This setting can be found in the Parameterlist of the FMA

Parameter 180 (In FMA list)

This parameter is responsible for the water schedule.
0= previous explorer en phoenix
1= Ikarus S Ixtrack
2= ixter

This setting can only be changed with the Flashtool!!

page 107 Kverneland Group

5.5 Machine type settings VMC

In the VMC parameter list are a view settings which are influencing the working of the
machine. (These settings can only be changed with the Flash tool)

Parameter 113
This parameter is working in a master/slave releation with parameter 180 in the FMA.
Changing only the VMC parameter 113 will not change the working of the machine.
(After restart it takes over the FMA valve type again)

Parameter 114
If the machine is an Ikarus S with a potentiometer the reversed sensor setting has to be changed
from 0 to 1.
Ixter 0
Ikarus S With 180° potentiometer 1
Ikarus S With level stick sensor 0
Ixtrack 0
This setting can only be changed with the Flashtool!!

5.6 Calibrate the electrical level indicator:

Step 1
Check first the pulses of the spray flowmeter or pressure sensor,
Re-calibrate if necessary!
(Very important!!!)

Step 2
Fill up the tank till the maximum. (please notice that the levelindicator ball must be free
from the top of the tank. (When this is not possible fill the tank in the function clean filter)

Step 3
Go to the PINCODE Menu of the VMC: press +

Step 4
Go to the screen Pin Authorise and enter the pincode PINCODE = 5
Confirm the code with OK.

Step 5.
Press the arrow up bottom and go to the sreen Tank calibration.

Step 6
Push the the screen OK to start will appear.

Step 7
Press and the following information will appear L0000/A0977/E000

(Note: by pushing START: the old values are deleted!)

Step 8
Open the main valve and Spray the tank empty in this mode = In the VMC screen you can
follow the measurements points.

Step 9
At the exact moment the tank is empty (Float is touching the bottom)
Switch of the main valve
(When you wait too long, also the complete volume in all the hoses is counted! And the
0 point will change a bit.)

Step 10
Press at the button

Electrical levelindicator is callibrated

6 Steering system: calibration of drawbar or axle
1) Put machine, drawbar/ wheels, and tractor manually in a straight line

When the system is not reacting, select the LIMIT in the steering calibration menu and you
should always be able to operate in manual mode. AUTO

AUTO

Manual

2) Check parallelogram of sensor arms

- Arms and drawbar should be in a 90° angle

- Arm opposite to the outcoming cable

3) Calibrate sensors in the middle position: select CENTER & press OK

4) Set the DEAD ZONES to default (10 4)

5) Set the GAIN to default (= reaction between front & rear sensor)

6) Set the LIMIT and check the MANUAL LIMIT

NOTE: the LIMIT is a value left and right from the middle position: recalibrating the middle
position can also shift the LIMIT!

7) Check the hydraulic speed: about 25L/min from tractor, then set the restrictor on the valve,
till the steering speed in manual mode is correct (too quick makes it too nervous)

8) Drive in a curve to adjust the GAIN (= track following, depends on tractor)

Higher value = less steering

9) Adjust the DEAD ZONES when necessary

When zones are too big, the steering is less accurate, but: 10

Big zone: too small nervous in AUTO 4

Small zone too small nervous in MIDDLE position

7 Ergodrive
With ergo drive the heigt of the sprayboom is measured by a sensor on the parallelogram.

7.1 Calibration ergo drive

1) Flash all the necessary software in the machine

2) Activate the Ergodrive (ED) behind de Pincode in screen “Machine configurations”.

3) Adjust the “minimum” and “maximum boom height”

This prevents that the hydraulic lift cylinder stays
activated when the cylinder is completely in or out.
This can easily be done by looking to the
minimum and maximum values in the sprayer
main screen when the boom is up or down:

MinBoomHeight: lowest boom position in cm

(mostly 50 cm)
MaxBoomHeight: highest technical boom
position in cm

4) Adjust Par Length: length of parallelogram arm over pivot points in mm

5) Adjust Bho (Boom height overshoot): default “5” (HSA 36m: default “10”) Increase
when boom is overreacting

page 111 Kverneland Group

6) Put the parallelogram in a horizontal position and measure the nozzle height

7) Go to screen Calibration, fill in the nozzle height in mm (1) (keep parallelogram still
horizontal!) and press the calibration button(3)

An correction factor (3) can be entere if the boom is not at the correct height (different
tyres/deep spray tracks/etc.)

8 Lift cylinder switch
• Electrical switch for limiting the lift cylinders in transport position.
• Used on HSA 36m, HBWP and Explorer Airplus
• The folded in boom activates the switch when lowering to the boom supports. The switch
should be adjusted in that way that the boom is well carried by the supports and not too low
on the rear mudguards
• When not activated, the 2 electrical valves on the bottom of the lift cylinders are open. When
activated, the switch cuts the circuit, the valves close and the boomlift is locked for transport
• The switch cable is connected in the front Splitterbox
o ACT PWR = 12V Brown (+)
o ACT GND = Blue (-)
• In the black valve connectors on both lift cylinders is a 1N4007 diode fitted
